Cllr Phil Hewitt
County Cllr. Staffs CC Chairman. Promoted by Phil Hewitt of 90-92 High Green, Cannock, WS11 1BE.
I’m aware of the ice on Stafford Lane, the flooding is very much part of the problem, I have asked for a Gritter to visit urgently.
I am still awaiting the camera for the pipes, none of the repairs have succeeded to sort it needs sorting properly.
There will be lots of community stalls and traders at this weekends Hednesford Christmas Event, and don't forget all the shops in Town will be open for the event, so lots of unique present choices available to complete your Christmas shopping.
We have taken the decision to support the local food and drink providers in the Town as much as possible and have been working with them to see how they can support the event. Greggs are staying open later than usual to offer hot drinks, Kraft Lounge are offering a Christmas event menu and an after event party apparently, Bakeaway will be selling some lovely warm Christmas food to take away, Happy Jacks will be open throughout offering warm drinks and food, Pizzapan will be open that afternoon for takeaway pizza orders, and Press Book Cafe will be offering a warm Christmas welcome too. Please support your local traders where you can, it really means a lot to them.
Traders please feel free to comment on this post with details of any offers or revised opening hours on the day of the event.
Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing overnight: our gritting crews will be out tonight and on standby as necessary at 5am.
Please take care and drive to the conditions.
I am aware of the ongoing issue with flooding on Stafford Lane that’s proving difficult to resolve.
After catching up with our infrastructure team, we are putting a camera down and a Sond (this is a tracer that detects problems from the surface).
I will keep the pressure on to get the long overdue problem sorted.

On Monday it was a real privilege to represent Staffordshire County Council at the opening of the Royal British Legion Field of Rememberence at the National Arboretum.
There are services going on across our district in the next week, if you can I would encourage people to attend.
As we approach our annual celebrations of Bonfire Night, it is important to remember that fireworks, and that the loud bangs and sparkling lights that fireworks produce, aren't so magical for our pets and animals.
Normal fireworks can and do have a profound effect on a variety of wild animals and pets as well as our fellow humans.
Please be considerate this bonfire night, and please take extra consideration around pets, animals and individuals who may struggle with fireworks and the noise in which they exhibit.
It’s also worthwhile to remember that there are many alternatives that can be used in place of fireworks, including 'silent fireworks'.
Please be considerate this bonfire night.
HILL STREET.
There will be some traffic restrictions 23rd to 25th October near Littleworth Road.
I’m delighted to say the crossing signals are all being updated.
It’s a real pleasure to work with this charity, thanks to all that supported the event to raise much needed funds.
I have supported this wonderful group for a number of years, if you can support the fun run in any way please do.

Today is and an opportunity for us all to raise awareness and highlight the issues faced by those living with dementia.
This can be devastating for so many people and globally, dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face, with nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide.
The theme of Alzheimer’s Day 2023 is "Never Too Early Never Too Late” and how preventative steps, early diagnosis, treatment and support can improve someone’s quality of life.
The goal of World Alzheimer’s Awareness Day is to assist more people in understanding more about Alzheimer’s– how widespread it is, how to recognise it and how it develops.

🌳CONSERVATION WORKS, CASTLE RING🌳
🏰The first phase of works are underway at Castle Ring.
🌳This involves the clearance of self-setting trees and scrub which are threatening to damage the earthworks of the scheduled monument.
👀Works will allow visitors to see more of the form of the hillfort with its banks and ditches.
🐞Works will also help to improve wildlife habitats.
🐍The project is a collaboration between Cannock Chase District Council, Historic England, adder specialists and the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Team.
💰The project has been financially supported through the Government’s Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme.
📆Once Phase 1 is completed, further works are planned for 2023/24.
What a fantastic evening Adrienne and I had Monday at Cannock Boxing club, we felt privileged to be invited and see the wonderful work that Calum and Ashley do working with youths and children right across our area.
I decided to give the ring a miss on this occasion.
Help to recycle and only put in the appropriate bin the most wanted items.
