As LeafieldJD are apart of the Mindful Employer UK we have signed up to follow their charter:
- To provide non-judgemental and proactive support to staff with experience of mental ill-health.
- To not make assumptions about a person with a mental health condition and their ability to work.
- To be positive and enabling toward all employees and applicants with a mental health condition.
- To support line managers in managing mental health in the workplace.
- To make it clear that people who have experience of mental ill-health will not be discriminated against.
All our staff have different ways that they manage thier mental health and we encourage a healthy work-life balance to enjoy these things more and more when facing some challenging days/weeks.
By encouraging staff to work on themselves, this allows them to be present for our clients and support them in reaching for their goals.
Today was LeafieldJD’s first Peer Group session of the year with 3 of our case managers, discussing scenarios, challenges, and achievements that they have faced since the new year.
We find that by attending Peer Group it allows us to have:
1. A place to share resources
Collective knowledge will provide you with resources
and insight to help you make good decisions for our clients, their families,
and other professionals.
2. Freedom to share ideas
Being part of a peer group often reinforces what you
believe. It helps solidify your thoughts regarding change or the need to do so.
You’ll gain valuable insight by hearing your peers’ successes and
failures.
3. Accountability
It’s easier to reach your goals if you have a group
of like-minded people holding you accountable. Require the group to be
non-judgmental and respectful. Treat information with confidentiality. This
will put people at ease and set the tone for making progress and sharing
insight.
4. Knowledge exchange
It’s a collective way to bring experience and wisdom
you can trust and rely upon. You may encounter a stage in your development
where you don’t know how to get to the next level. Experienced peers can help
you handle each stage of growth.
5. Personal and Professional Support
Everyone will go through some tough days, months, or
years. It could be that there is a revenue, expense or personnel concern or
problem. Maybe you need a friendly trustworthy ear. Your peer group can listen
and encourage you through the difficulties.
Looking forward to next month, to see what puzzles and solutions are brought.
Thank you SHU AHP Students for having us at your Careers and Employability Farye. Sophie completed a brilliant talk to the students this evening about her journey so far and it has been lovely to be apart of supporting the future AHPs in the start of their professional journey wherever that takes them.
Also raising awareness around Case Management, the people we work with, work alongside and what we do.
(Sorry if we talked your ears off 😊 we just love our jobs)
Please if any one has any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
As part of further rehabilitation one of our clients has been to the LeafieldJD offices and helped us put up the Christmas Decorations in the communal areas. They were given a budget to work with for the decorations, completed research then using planning, organisation and prioritising skills to work the executive function of the brain without getting frustrated at lights falling, baubles breaking and items not fitting on the tree, they problem solved and created our wonderful display. We cannot thank them enough for doing this for us.
Yesterday LeafieldJD LTD Case Managers participated in Headway - the brain injury association and Betsi Cadwaladr UHB Neurosciences Virtual Conference 2022. Along side many others from the multidisciplinary team and Brain Injury Survivors. Dr Christopher Byrne, Tamsin Keyes (GMBPsS), Ammaarah Siddique, Sophie Perry, Lynsey and Pat thank you so much for your time and sharing your experiences, been able to be apart of this was a great pleasure.
The Leafield JD Ltd Case managers had a wonderful evening last night at the EMG Solicitors annual
It was lovely to be able to put names to actual 3D people that have otherwise only been met over digital platforms, emails or phonecalls!
A big Thankyou to our guests Lucy Lowson Kate Oliver Vickie McCoy for joining us and boogie’ing the night away, helping raise money for Headway - the brain injury association
Here’s to next year
On Tuesday Case Managers attended South Yorkshire Medico-Legal Society talk on Murderous Anaesthetists - the changing relationship between anaesthesia and the law by Dr Alan Kershaw alongside, Drs, Barristers, Lawyers and other professionals.
This was a fascinating talk on the changing relationship between anaesthesia and the law. Based on case studies, Alan spoke about evaluating the changing legal landscape surrounding anaesthetics over the last 200 years, up to and including present day, domestically and internationally. Two of the cases are ongoing so this was an opportunity to gain insight into an evolving area of law.
We enjoy keeping up to date on many different topics and clinical development that can help us support our clients and have the best knowledge possible, which allows us to continue to provide the best client and family centered care that is bespoke and individualised.
Thank you to The Sheffield and District Law Society Ltd for facilitating this.

Today is World Mental Health Day:
“Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”
Ahead of World Mental Health day, Leeds Mind, of the Leeds Mindful Employer network, celebrated 50 years of providing support……Celebrating by providing even more support!!
Leafield JD Ltd we’re in attendance at last weeks event “Inclusive recruitment and Mental Health at work”.
Our staff learnt about practical tools to support and retain staff, how to challenge mental health stigma and promote wellbeing at work.
Su***de.
Sometimes still considered a “taboo subject”.
A sensitive topic.
“Easier to not discuss it”.
“A trigger if I mention it”.
We at Leafield JD are always looking for ways to better support and understand clients, ourselves and people in our lives.
Tonight the Leafield JD Ltd Case managers attended a lecture at Sheffield Hallam Univeristy:
Rory O’Connor
When it is darkest: understanding Su***de
Rory & his team continue to commence new research, and complete long standing studies.
6000 deaths in the UK are due to su***de each year. This is estimated to sadly only increase in the coming years due to factors such as:
- post pandemic recovery
- long waiting lists to access mental health & health support
- the cost of living crisis
- the war in Ukraine
How can YOU best support someone in their time of need?
