Is your recruitment tech underused?

Do your team really know how to use it well or are they only using 30% of the features? This is surprisingly common.

Sometimes, the best approach is to strip things back to basics and rebuild.

πŸ‘‰ Understanding scope: What tech do your teams have access to? Do they know all its features? Often, recruiters use a fraction of what their tech can do. This leads to inefficiencies and underutilisation.

πŸ‘‰ Training & Engagement: Once you've taken stock, proper training is essential. Equip your recruiters with the know-how to navigate and use your recruitment technology. This ensures that everyone is aligned and using the system to its fullest potential.

Yes, there is an initial time investment! But poor integration and usage can lead to significant cost implications. The ROI isn't just financialβ€”it's about building a high-performing, profitable recruitment business, improvements for your team but also for your candidates and clients. Here's to making every tech feature work for you! πŸš€

Recruitment Leaders- I know you love buying the latest recruitment tech but...

It's easy to get caught up in the latest technology and trends and as a result, you end up with too much tech that just doesn't communicate with one another, let alone give you good results. So sometimes it's necessary to take a step back and revisit the basics of recruitment. By revisiting the fundamental principles of sourcing, screening, and engaging with candidates and clients, you can ensure that your recruitment technology is being used to its fullest potential.

By understanding the core components of recruitment and how your team is using tech to support this, you can then build upon this to harness the full power of your technological tools. Whether it's implementing an efficient applicant tracking system, utilising AI for candidate matching, or leveraging analytics for better decision-making, a solid understanding of recruitment fundamentals is crucial for optimising these technologies.

Ultimately, going back to basics allows you to re-evaluate your strategies and refine your processes. This not only maximises the effectiveness of our recruitment technology but also ensures a more seamless and successful candidate and client experience. It's only by mastering the foundations that we can truly unlock the full potential of our recruitment tools.

Always get input from other customers before buying your next piece of recruitment technology! Don't just speak to 1 person that the tech provider has suggested.

Instead, use your network and speak to businesses who have used that tech for different amounts of time! I tell my Clients to speak to the following people before they sign the contract ⬇️

1) Those who have used it for less than 6 months, who will have a fresh perspective on the product. 🀳

2) For a more in-depth review, speak to those who have used it for between 6-12 months, and focus the conversation on the implementation and uptake so far. πŸ’¬

3) People who have used it for 24 months or more can give real insights into usage, success and ROI. 🀝

It's important to get a balanced perspective from various current customers to ensure you get the best overview of the recruitment technology. πŸ˜‰

Recruiting isn't a one-size-fits-all process. Every recruitment business has different hiring workflows and processes, these need to be mapped out.

Here's what happens when recruitment businesses don't map out their processes.

1) They can't deliver the relevant learning and development that their teams need. New employees need as much guidance on your processes and workflows so they can gain a greater understanding of the business and how to do their specific roles.

2) Without a clear view of the way their business operates, how will they know what needs to be improved as it's hard to identify areas of opportunity?

3) Accountability can also be an issue when recruitment processes aren't mapped out. Everyone needs to be aware of their responsibility and tasks, this also helps bridge the gap between the Sales team and the Operations team.

4) Without a plan for each step in the process, errors can happen. These errors are costly, damaging and time-consuming to fix.

5) Without a mapped-out recruitment process, there is no way of knowing how they are delivering for their Candidate and Clients.

Don't be like all the other recruitment agencies. Instead, dedicate time to mapping out your recruitment processes ensuring that each step is taken and that your teams are properly trained and held accountable. This will help you to attract the best talent and provide a better candidate and client experience.

In the recruitment industry, it's important to keep up with the latest technology and adopt new pieces of software to ensure you are staying ahead. πŸ’»

However, it's not enough to just have the new software in place; it needs to be implemented effectively in order to ensure successful implementation. πŸš€

I believe the answer to this is Continuous Software Implementation πŸ€“

To me, Continuous Software Implementation should include:
- Creating clear goals and timescales
- Ongoing and regular training for all users (not just the initial 1-hour training session!)
- Fortnightly sessions with your customer success manager, then moving to monthly after 8 weeks.
- Clear troubleshooting process in place for employees to raise issues
- Detailed monthly ROI reports
- Regular monitoring of the software ensuring that the system continues to meet your needs
- Strong Communication and collaboration
..and this should be happening for the entire duration of the contract not just the first 3 months! You have invested in this software for a reason and this is the way to ensure it delivers for you and your business.

Continuous software implementation will help to improve the speed of change within your business. It will allow your entire business to fully understand the capabilities of the software so that you can ensure it is being used to its fullest potential. πŸ“Š

It's no secret that businesses big and small are being forced to find ways to optimise their processes and save money. But it's often the case that businesses spend money on the wrong things. πŸ€”

Take CRM for example. It's all good and well optimising your processes and saving money, but if you then need to pay a third party or a developer to build automated sequences for you, that money is going down the drain. πŸ’°

The same goes for data. Leveraging data is a powerful opportunity but if you need to pay a BI specialist to build report after report, money is being hemorrhaged right there too. πŸ€–

The answer? Make sure you choose the right CRM for your business that fully supports your requirements.

That way you can make sure you're spending your money on the right things.

One of the best ways to attract the right candidates is to include the salary in your job description. πŸ’°

Making salary information visible upfront helps you to attract candidates who have a realistic understanding of the role, and who are more likely to be a good fit for the job. 🀝

By having salary information displayed, you'll also filter out candidates who may not be right for the role but are applying anyway. πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ This can save you a lot of time and energy, ensuring you get the most suitable people for the job.

Including salary information also conveys the message that your Client values transparency. 🀝 This can be a great selling point for potential applicants, as it demonstrates that you are a trustworthy and honest recruiter!

So, if you want to get more candidates and fill your positions faster, make sure to include the salary in your job description. πŸ’°πŸ‘

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’ΌIf you're responsible for bringing new technology into your recruitment business, it's important to ensure that any new piece of technology you introduce to your agency runs smoothly and is implemented effectively. Here are some tips to make sure the process goes off without a hitch! πŸ’»

🀝First and foremost, it's important to consult with your team. Make sure you involve them in the decision-making process, so they can provide valuable insight and feedback. Keep the lines of communication open and make sure everyone is on the same page. πŸ—£

πŸ€“Secondly, make sure you have a thorough understanding of the new technology. Research it and learn as much as you can before introducing it to your team. That way, you can be prepared to answer any questions they have. πŸ“š

πŸ•΅οΈFinally, be sure to offer support and resources for your team as they learn to use the new technology. Invest in training and provide resources they can use to become familiar with the system. I recommend creating a training plan for the first 6 months after implementation to ensure your teams begin using it effectively 🀝

Thriving in a talent-driven market requires a pivot towards smart recruitment – but where to start? πŸš€

As a recruitment consultant, I've seen the landscape transform, especially with technology reshaping the experience for candidates and clients. In today's world, efficiency isn't just a buzzword; it's the linchpin in securing top talent.

🎯 First off, embrace automation. Tools like Bullhorn Automation are game-changers in managing communications, process and productivity. They auto-match candidates, score candidates, and even automate follow-ups – a major time-saver!

πŸ” Next, let's talk AI. Artificial Intelligence is your ally for improving candidate sourcing. It taps into data, understands job requirements, and identifies potential fits far quicker than any manual process, letting you focus on the human aspect of recruitment.

🀝 Then there's the power of CRM systems. It's about building relationships. CRMs trace client interactions guaranteeing no lead is forgotten, ensuring a personalized approach that wins clients over. If it's not tracked, it's not fact!

πŸ“Š Now, data analytics – the unspoken hero of recruitment. It anticipates hiring trends, evaluates successful hiring sources, and measures critical metrics. It highlights where the bottlenecks are within your business, so you can make improvements.

Tech is there to enhance, not replace, the unique insights and instincts of great recruiters.

We're not just filling vacancies; we're paving the way for stronger teams, enhanced workplace culture, and increased business growth.

12/06/2024

Often, in our pursuit of the latest tech, we forget what's important in a successful recruitment process.

Sometimes going back to basics can be the key to unlocking the full potential of our recruitment technology:

1. **Solid Foundation**: Revisiting the basics allows us to reinforce the key skills and approaches that form the backbone of effective recruitment. Building on a strong foundation can significantly enhance the impact of technological tools.
2. **Clarity and Focus**: Going back to basics helps streamline our processes and clarify our objectives. By re-establishing a clear process, we can invest in the right tech to improve your delivery, marketing and service.
3. **Identifying Gaps**: Returning to basics enables us to identify any gaps or inefficiencies in our current recruitment practices. This insight is invaluable for determining where technology can best be integrated so improvements can be made.

Enhance. Refine. Align.

04/06/2024

If you want to attract more job applicants, put the salary in your job description.

Not only does it reduce the amount of time recruiters and hiring managers spend on unqualified or low-quality candidates, it also helps you to attract better talent.

By being transparent about the salary upfront, you can ensure you are getting the right people who are genuinely interested in the role and who are aware of the pay. A great job description should also include a detailed description of the role and the company culture.

In addition, people looking for a job appreciate knowing what to expect in terms of money. It eliminates the requirement for them to have to ask for the salary early in the process, allowing them to focus more on if the role and the company are a good fit.

Yesterday, I had an eye-opening conversation with a recruitment agency owner. They wasted a staggering Β£18,000 last year on underutilised technology.

This isn't just about wasted money; it's missed opportunities to enhance our candidate and client experience, to streamline operations, increase productivity and frankly, perform.

It's not just about having the technology; it's about integrating, understanding and usage.

If you're sitting on unused tech, it's time for action:
πŸ“ Assess - Review what you have and its capabilities.
πŸ› οΈ Integrate - Fully embed tech into your daily workflows and CRM.
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’ΌπŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό Train - Empower your team with the knowledge to use it to its full potential.

Please use the tech you have access to.

Don't miss the opportunity it provides.

22/05/2024

Recruitment technology has transformed the entire process and with it, the landscape of recruitment.

What do you think the next big thing in recruitment technology will be?

21/05/2024

Neglecting proper integration of recruitment technology can significantly impact the efficiency and success of your agency. You probably already know the problems this causes, but let me remind you because I still see this happening on a daily basis.

**Communication Breakdowns:** Inadequate integration can lead to disconnected recruitment technology tools operating in silos, causing communication breakdowns and data fragmentation. This inefficiency can slow down decision-making processes and hinder workflow. Get your tech speaking to one another!

**Poor Use of Resources:** A poorly integrated tech stack often results in underutilization of valuable resources. Your recruiters and Ops teams will struggle to fully leverage the capabilities of each tool, leading to missed opportunities for automation, optimization, and efficiency gains.

**Wastage of Money and Resources:** Investing in recruitment technology without proper integration can lead to wasted resources and financial waste. Ensuring tools are effectively integrated is key to maximizing ROI and workforce potential.

By understanding these risks, recruitment agencies can prioritize effective integration strategies to unleash the full potential of their technology stack. Embracing seamless connectivity and data flow across platforms can enhance agility, improve decision-making, and ultimately drive better candidate experiences.

Make 2024 the year your technology investments finally translates into tangible returns and operational excellence.

20/05/2024

The right recruitment technology systems in place can make or break a business.

Having the right technology can make all the difference in supporting your recruitment practices and the success of your team. But it can be a challenging process to implement it.

Do this to ensure the implementation of a new piece of technology goes well:

1. Develop and execute a timeline. This provides a clear approach for the entire process, breaking it down into achievable and manageable tasks. ⏰

2. Communicate the process and the benefits to everyone involved. Having clear understanding and the full picture is essential to the success of implementation. πŸ—£

3. Select the right team members to manage the implementation. Ideal team members possess experience, positive attitude and technical knowledge. 🀝

4. Always approach the process with enthusiasm and confidence. πŸ’ͺ

5. Hold your supplier accountable. Map out the full training process for your teams to ensure everyone within your business knows how to use the product!

14/05/2024

Ever felt like you're pouring resources into a black hole?

That's what a disjointed tech stack in recruitment feels like.

We speak to agencies with poorly integrated tech on a daily basis!

πŸ” The risks are real:
1. Siloed Systems: When your tech doesn't talk to each other, data gets trapped. It's like having a team that doesn't communicate – inefficient and frustrating.
2. Underutilisation: Tech is an investment, but without proper integration, it's like buying a brand new Ferrari and never taking it out of the garage. What's the point if you're not harnessing its full potential?
3. Financial Drain: Every penny counts right now, and a tech stack that isn't connected is just money down the drain. It's not just about the initial outlay; it's the ongoing costs of a system that doesn't deliver ROI.

But it's not all doom and gloom. The upside of getting it right is huge, some would say MASSIVE. Just imagine a seamless flow of data, a system that enhances the candidate and client experience, and tech that works for you, not against you.

πŸ› οΈ Here's how to avoid the pitfalls:
- Audit your current tech stack. Is it fully utilised? Does it communicate effectively?
- Get feedback. Ask your team about how your current tech is working and what improvements are needed
- Involve your team in the selection and integration process of any new tech. They're the ones using it daily.
- Invest in training. A tool is only as good as the person using it.

The right tech, properly integrated, is powerful.

Supercharging Recruitment Tech Usage: Key talking points for Account Managers and their Clients

1) The latest product updates and changes. The Client must be aware and up-to-date on what's been released and how it can be used to benefit their business.

2) Data is key - the Account Manager should share data on how their product is being used and the value it is bringing.

3) The Client should also be providing data on how the product is being used as they will have CRM, ROI and financial data that the tech supplier will not have access to.

4) Clients should provide feedback on how they are using the tech, and what challenges they are facing.

5) It's also beneficial to discuss how the Client can use the software more effectively - from automation to reporting - to get the most out of the tech.

By discussing these vital topics for Account Managers and Clients results can be boosted together. πŸš€
