Watt has done multiple 160's and is still competing sound and happy (his rider a little less so hence the step down in competitive rides). Watt has very efficient paces, an amazing cool temperament around other horses and competition and of course his pedigree is second to non (sire Arques Perspex, damsire Persik) He is uterine brother to Sunit du Colombier, twice winner of Florac and his other uterine brother Michto du Lauragais has just completed his first 3* in amazing form

Watt gives his amazing cool temperament to his offspring and all have been rated very high in the endurance futurity gradings, scoring well on confirmation and gaits.

Meet NRG (Energy) Akhdhar, a chestnut c**t out of my performance mare (2x160) Moragh Akhdhar
Born on the 18th of June.

He's a super correct and cheeky little chap.
Either he or his 2 year old full brother Elektrik might be looking for a new (preferably competitive) home. Proven performance on both dam and sire side 💚

Forest of Dean, nice start of the season, 41 km, 800m elevation. Slow speed as slippery and plenty of obstacles (12 km/h)

Super low HR at final inspection: 32! Grade 1 and winner of the 41 km performance formula!

Our 2nd outing in dressage, the boy did well! A respectable 67%, with plenty of room for improvement ;)

We went from a first indoor experience to an outdoor arena challenge with yellow flowerpots, much scarier than any endurance Watt can tell you! But once the flowers proved non-Watt eating he did super

When we scanned Moragh and Nib end of September we had unfortunately found that Nib had not held on to her pregnancy.

So I told her that if she'd be in season before the end of September she would get another chance. But unfortunately she was not showing enough signs to be truly covered.

Too bad right? Wrong! Mid October Nib was desperately telling me she needed Watt NOW!! And Watt agreed and I had seen some late foals on Facebook recently, decided how I could potentially make it work with the stable and access to grass so we tried.

And today we had a heartbeat! Voltage will have a full sibling ( if all goes well of course) 💚

It has been quiet around Watt, without his young rider and with his owner busy competing her other horse, Watt was happy enjoying field time and siring his new son.

But no more leisure time! It is time to dab our hooves in a little bit of dressage (and who knows even a jump) to see have some fun and new challenges!

You might have noticed Watt was not out much more after his good 64 KM at Wentwood. The reason you can see below, Suzie has been ill a lot and therefore extra busy in school. Of course health and school trump competing in endurance so sadly the lovely combination that was Suzie and Watt du Colombier will not continue.

W(h)att's next? I don't really know to be fair. It seemed like the perfect solution to have a Young Rider compete Watt, at 13 he's in the prime of his years and it's a shame to retire him. I might see if I can find a suitable goal for us, but as I'm struggling with motivation I'm not sure.
If anyone is interested to loan Watt to compete, give me a shout but realise he is staying home (not easy to find somewhere for a stallion) and anyone competing him will also have to train him.

A little update on the quietness…

Unfortunately, due to my own health being a constant battle at the moment, coupled with the need to focus on my A-Level studies in my final school year, I’ve had to stop riding the wonderful Watt. I’m so sad to say that this hasn’t worked out for longer, as I truly cannot fault the coaching and support of Esther and had never been at such a strong standard with my riding as I felt paired with Watt, however the long travel to train and hours needed to properly take care of and compete an athlete like Watt is no longer feasible alongside my life at home. I also want to thank those who have sponsored me along the way with riding, including Rowen Barbary Horse Feeds and of course Groen Equestrian as without their support I couldn’t have gotten as far as I did. Endurance is a tough sport for everyone involved (owners, riders, crew) and as much as I love the sport my academic future must come first. I hope I can still keep involved in the endurance community and help out where possible.

Updated result from last weekend is that Watt and I actually ended up winning our class 🥇 and winning best condition of the day 🥇 which is a huge success for us. Bring on this weekend! 🐎 Thank you to the organisers of the ride for providing such fabulous prizes for all classes too!

Watt is competing with Young Rider Suzie Todd Endurance this season and besides working hard for her school exams, Suzie is coming over to train with Watt as much as she can.

This weekend they had their first competitive ride together and that went super.
Not only did Watt show how good his heart rate and recovery is (32 at the start, 36 at finish, resulting in a Grade 1) but Suzie gave him a lovely ride and they won Best Condition!

Frozen semen is being shipped to the EU mid May!
There will be some stored in France and in the Netherlands.

For the UK: Watt is a AHS Premium Merit stallion, which means that owners of premium mares receive free registration of the foal and a premium (£200 at the moment).
I can nominate 3 non-premium mares to get free AHS registration and a premium of £100. And all AHS premium progeny are eligible for annual awards!

For EU: Brexit has made shipping very difficult but on the 12th of May there will be a transport going to France. Get in touch if you want your semen to be part of that so I can get everything sorted.

Watt himself is now officially a Premium Merrit Stallion and all my ridden mares are now Premium mares!!

Watt is doing great at Stallion AI Services, he is producing good quality semen, and we have decided to leave him a little longer to make sure we have enough for a number of mares.

Semen will be shipped to the Netherlands, and anyone interested in Europe for semen, please contact me so we can see if we can arrange to join shipping to reduce transport costs.

For this first year (end of 2021 and whole of 2022) we will give a discount for performance mares, which will go up from 8% to even 16% for mares that have finished 160km (1 day) so that will be a nice extra incentive.

Super proud of Watt's 2 first foals, both getting gold premium at the British Breeding Futurity (though Rik was suffering a little from mistaken identity as I got the report of a filly back instead of his 😜😳)

Lots of other excitement with Da Watt man this week as I have applied for the Arab Horse Society of Great Britain "Ridden merit stallion" which I think will get him in the Premium scheme (don't ask me, but it's good for you mare owners out there!)

And I have decided to finally bite the bullet and invest in getting frozen semen this autumn/winter to make him available to the EU. So drop me a message if you want to use him in future and perhaps we can ship some to the EU to have a distribution point there)

Just to remind you: Watt du Colombier is a double 160km proven stallion out of the famous Arques Perspex (out of a Persik dam).
He has low heartrates, super recovery and the easiest temperament (the latter he has passed on to his 2 foals, the first 2 we will have to see when they grow up and start competing ;) )

Watt is super proud of his brother from another mother (i.e. another successful son of Arques Perspex) Zolotoi des Brumes who became 4th at the Young rider World Championships in Ermelo with his rider Anne Marijn Kok.
