As Guildford and Woking have growing communities of Hong Kongers, Zöe Franklin for Guildford & our Villages and I met people from the Hong Kong Democracy Council earlier today about working together to help Hong Kongers living in the UK and overseas.

Another Olympic Games complete! 🤩

I was pleased to be invited to visit the Shah Jahan Mosque yesterday to show solidarity against right-wing thugs who have terrorised our streets. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home, community and place of worship. Woking is an open, tolerant and united community.

It was a privilege to meet the Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot earlier this week. My colleagues from the Liberal Democrats and I got to hear about what’s happening on the ground in Gaza and how we can help all those suffering.

We’ve heard far too many stories of people waiting hours for an ambulance.

These alarming statistics show that our NHS is on its knees. We need urgent cross-party talks to improve social care so we can prevent heatstroke cases, and review our preparedness for heat waves.

I was devastated to learn that my friend and former head teacher Anne Turner died last night.

Anne was an amazing head teacher, serving at Fulbrook and Woking High Schools. She gave up so much of her time to help others, especially the next generation.

Anne was also a key part of my recent election campaign to become Woking’s MP.

My thoughts and prayers are with Anne’s friends and family.

Joined colleagues from the Liberal Democrats and other political parties to present Zero Hour UK’s petition to 10 Downing Street today. The petition calls on the Government to deliver the Climate and Nature Bill.

Had a really enjoyable day yesterday at Byfleet Parish Day and the Knaphill Village Show - Woking has a great community spirit!

Fantastic afternoon at the Knaphill Village Show topped off by a ride on the Mizens railway with Will Forster MP and Councillor Ian Johnson. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the show and to everyone that made it such a memorable afternoon.

I was elected as the Liberal Democrats’ first ever MP for Woking a fortnight ago today. The top local issue facing us is our heavily indebted Borough Council. I have written to Angela Rayner asking for a meeting to get the Government help we need to get us out of this mess.
