LAST DAY TODAY 🔴

It’s the last day (11am - 4pm) of Creates Fine Art on Church Street, so if you’re in or around Monmouth, please pop in to see the last remaining pieces we have by our incredible and amazing talented artists and makers.

Today I feel so grateful for the journey that Creates Fine Art has taken us on and saddened knowing that this chapter is coming to an end. The gallery was not only a business but a place for me to be myself and support people on their journeys, encouraging people to follow their dreams. I will cherish the great memories and friendships we have made over the years and hope that its not long before we are supporting artists and makers again.

I’d like to take this opportunity again to thank all of the artists that have shown with us over the years and thank every single one you that invested into works with us.

We are so proud of what we have achieved in the time we have been here and hope that you will continue to follow our journey via Creates Monmouth page.

Thank you for bottom of our hearts and we hope to see all of you in the not so distant future ❤️

END OF AN ERA 🔴

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post to inform you that after seven and half years we will be closing Creates Fine Art on Church Street.

As we are all aware, the present economic and political climate has not been kind to the art industry and this combined with the fall-out from Covid and the current cost of living crisis has seen a rapid decline in sales and it’s become no longer viable for us to continue.

Monmouth has also become a different place from when we first opened back in 2015 and it’s evident that the high street is struggling. It’s a sad time for small businesses, especially ones trying to navigate through a minefield of constant restraints and increased costs.

The gallery’s final day of trading will be Saturday 28th October, but this is not the end of Creates Fine Art, just the beginning of a new chapter.

Our Boutique B&B and Bistro a few doors down (Creates Monmouth) will still have an art presence and is a space for you all to visit and enjoy. Our website is currently being developed to become more interactive so that you get a feel of the works before investing in our artists.

We will also be able to hold private viewings for you to come to Monmouth to view artwork in our interior space on the first floor of the Bistro so that you can see the works in person before committing to buy.

We hope that this plan is temporary while we work on a more developed long-term strategy for the return of Creates Fine Art Gallery, but this will need to be mapped out carefully so that it can become sustainable and survive any future turbulent times.

I’d like to thank you all for supporting me and my gallery team over the years and above all, thank you for taking the time to visit us to buy art or simply to enjoy the talents that we have housed over the years. Your investment has really made a difference to the art industry and has kept the creative energy alive in Monmouth.

We invite you to visit the gallery up until Saturday 28th October 2023 and make any last purchases or to get those Christmas gifts in early (is it too early to mention Christmas?).

Opening hours: Wednesday - Saturday 11am - 4pm

We hope to see you soon and thank you all for your support ❤️

We are so excited, two new Kip Kavallares abstract acrylic paintings have just arrived in the gallery. One of NYC and the other of Shaftesbury Avenue London. Pop in on this beautiful day and have a closer look at Kip's signature colours☀️

Mike Skidmore takes oil painting to another level with his wonderful still life images. They are always beautiful with a little quirky touch.

Here is a Sean Durkin print, and look closely to spot the policeman and also the burglar! At the tender age of 8 in 1972, Sean's father stole an original Lowry from the local art gallery. he wanted to make a statement, a demand that the said gallery should be open on Sundays so the working man could enjoy art. It did then open on Sundays and Sean grew up not only to become an artist, but to paint in the style of Lowry, yet very much his own art!

20/04/2023

We are so lucky to have a series of original oil paintings by Vernon Jones. The movement of the sea, the colours are stunning and need to be seen to be fully appreciated!

Photos from Creates Gallery's post 23/03/2023

We are delighted to introduce Yorkshire artist Tracey Krupianka. We were lucky to acquire three of her prints and having proved very popular, we now have two original paintings by her which are acrylic on canvas.
Tracey loves to paint 'bold, happy paintings', as you can see they are vibrant, colourful and bring comfort to your day!

It is with a heavy heart to announce that Becky Evans passed away today. Becky came into our lives in July 2021 and looked after the gallery while I was managing the restaurant a few doors down. It was hard to let go of the gallery after so many years and let someone else to take the reigns but Becky was a complete breath of fresh air and looked after the gallery with such kindness and consideration. If you were lucky enough to meet her, you sure wouldn’t have forgotten her infectious smile and generosity.

We want to pass our deepest condolences to her family. We are so lucky to have had her for the time that we did.

Thank you Becky for everything, you will be truly missed by all ❤️😢❤️

We have some wonderful new Ceramics that have arrived in the Gallery. These Raku pots are by Bryony Rich. Bryony grew up playing in her father's pottery Studio. Making pots became second nature at a very early age. After school she studied at Carmarthen CCTA Art College , specialising in fashion and textiles.

The beautiful Rainbow effects are incredibly eye catching and full of texture. They have a velvet quality and are porous to the touch. They have a smooth interior for either adding flowers or showcasing something ornamental. They look so gorgeous on their own or in pairs and would make a great addition to any interior design projects in your home. A fantastic opportunity to buy these rare Art works - all individually made are now available and selling fast! Prices range from £60 to £180.

🔴 NEW PAINTINGS IN NOW
Anita Davies has added some stunning new arrivals to the Gallery. Her use of colour and texture is so calming and gives you a true sense of well being. To see them in the flesh is so extraordinarily delightful. The texture and delicate colour combinations left me gazing for moments at a time fully appreciating the thought behind them and the wonderful composition of her work.

Welcome to Creates Fine Art

Creates Gallery, established in 2017, is an independent UK art gallery where you can buy original artwork in a relaxed gallery space. Specialising in original paintings, Creates Gallery showcases a wide variety of investment pieces of all styles from select British artists.

The gallery is located in the heart of Church Street in the historic town of Monmouth, South Wales – situated where the River Monnow meets the River Wye. Creates Gallery brings together some of the best original artwork from England and Wales, showing a wide variety of quality styles, catering to all tastes and budgets.

The gallery sees regular arrivals of both new artists and new works by our resident artists. In 2019 there was much more interest in larger paintings than previous years, so with this mind, we are now shifting our focus to adding a larger collection of investment pieces by well-established artists and makers.

With the opening of our gallery, coffee shop and B&B just a few doors down, we are separating our fine art from affordable art across our venues. Instead of themed exhibitions, we plan to update our works regularly with interesting unique pieces by our represented artists.
