COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
When two things are compared we use the form of an adjective called a comparative. The comparative forms of one-syllable adjectives such as big usually end in er.
e.g.Trucks are bigger than cars.

Quite a few two-syllable adjectives such as narrow (nar-row) also have the er form.
e.g. Roads are narrower in the old part of the city.

Many two-syllable adjectives such as useful (use-ful) and all adjectives that have more than two syllables, like intelligent (in-tell-i-gent), use more before them for the comparative.
e.g. Some websites are more useful than others.
Some people say that dogs are more intelligent than cats.

Three important adjectives have irregular comparative forms. The comparative of good is better.
e.g. The food at this restaurant is good, but I know a place where it's better.
The comparative of bad is worse.
e.g. Things were bad before, but now they're worse.
The comparative of far is farther or further.
