SAD NEWS. Unfortunately our worst fears have come to pass and we have had to CANCEL the Festival on Sunday.

As I’m sure most people are aware, the forecast for the next few days is pretty terrible, so we need to be mindful of continuing strong winds and poor weather over the weekend.

Today the weather forecast for Sunday evening is showing winds gusting up to 40mph which will make the conditions too dangerous for the kayakers and people on the promenade.

Obviously we are all very disappointed but everyone’s safety is the most important thing, and we hope you understand.

Good In The World (featuring The Amble Harbour Lights Choir), by Steve Jinski 05/12/2021

On this dull and dreary day when we had hoped to be celebrating the Festival of Light - we hope we can bring some joy to your hearts with a song for Amble. The lyrics grew from conversations with attendees at Dry Water Arts Curiosity Cafe and Going Good sessions - their Dementia Positive groups. The lyrics reflect their thoughts and feelings of living through lockdown and their hopes for the future. Despite all they went through they still believe there is good in the world. Can you help them by downloading the track for £1 or more which supports the programme and please share widely to raise the profile of the song and to help to give a voice to those who have not been heard. https://stevejinski.bandcamp.com/releases
The track was co-produced with musician Steve Jinski and Dave Maughan and features The Amble Harbour Lights Choir. The video was kindly put together by Paul Stocks who, in his words said he had made the video "to highlight all that Dry Water do for the the community" www.drywaterarts.ukhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-kVNAmgS-U

ReKINdle – Amble Light Festival will be postponed until early 2022.
We hate to disappoint everyone, but we feel that due to the ongoing changeable and severe weather situation, it is best to postpone the event until 2022.

Rest assured you we will inform you in good time of the new dates in the New Year

In the meantime a huge and heartfelt thank you to the many volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to make banners and structures, to rig and de rig and gave their time so generously .

The event may be postponed but the team spirit lives on and we look forward to the new year the rescheduling of ReKINdle and the rising of the Phoenix in the Kindliest Port

VERY SADLY WE HAVE HAD TO POSTPONE TODAY’s LIGHTS EVENT.
Unfortunately the weather has beaten us and for safety’s sake we have had to cancel this evening’s sound and lights installation at the Little Shore.

Fingers crossed we will be able to do it in a couple of weeks when the tide is right again, and hopefully the rain gods have gone away.

As a result, Santa will be at the Fish Shack only from 2-4pm today.

Please could you share this as widely as possible, especially for anyone who was planning to see Santa tonight.

21/11/2021

SANTA location update UPDATE! Due to high winds in the Town Sq, Santa will be at the Fish Shack 2-4pm only.
Sadly because of the weather, the lights event is cancelled, so there will only be one Santa visit at 2-4pm today. We are looking to reschedule in a couple of weeks.

ReKINdle
Powered by the community and our wonderful volunteers - see you all Sunday night 5-7pm Little Shore ! Go Amble !!!

20/11/2021

Don’t forget, if you’re planning to visit Santa tomorrow* you can also take part in the children’s Santa trail!

Pick up your forms from the Seafood centre, find all the Santas in the shop windows on Queen Street and Harbour Village and return the form to the Seafood centre to be in with a chance to win a prize!

*Santa will be in the Fish Shack from 2-4pm and from 5-7pm (Town Sq venue has been moved to Fish Shack due to weather)

**You don’t have to visit Santa to take part in the trail.**

Reimagining the Amble Light Festival
This year there will be some changes to the Amble Light Festival with the intention of keeping everyone as safe as possible whilst celebrating this important part of Amble’s community life.
This year there will not be a parade down Queens Street, instead ReKINdle will see Little Shore and the Pier area become the focus of the light festival launch on 21st November 5pm - 7pm.
There will be an exciting audio visual display around which members of the public can promenade. We encourage you to dress for the occasion so wear all your bright, blingy, shimmery, shiny clothes the bolder the better, headdresses, capes, hats whatever you feel like as long as it is light and bright.
Once again Amble Events Committee and Dry Water Arts are encouraging households to create light displays in their windows with the theme of recovery, rekindling and reigniting our community. This could be things like images of a Phoenix, fire/flames, sunrises, sunsets, stars, birds, images of friendship, community, kinship and kindness.
Dry Water Arts will be posting some videos on our website to inspire you with a focus this year on recycling and repurposing household materials.
Last year’s window displays were stunning and we are sure you can rise to the occasion once more to light up the night with your imagination. We will create and share an online gallery of all the window displays. The images of the household window displays will also become part of the visual display at Little Shore so you can promenade in all your pomp and also see your artwork projected.
Want To Help?
Amble Events Committee and Dry Water Arts are looking to recruit volunteers to help make and shape the audio visual display at Little Shore. If you would like to be involved then please contact the Dry Water team on 07542 141411 or by email: [email protected]
