ROMANS, WAVE, ROLLERS
The day of a fit I am always nervous, even after 16yrs plus, as even if you think of everything, still sometimes things aren’t exactly as you visualise.
Anyone else feel like this at work?
That’s why it’s paramount to use a good fitter - thanks William! He was great yesterday with a pole that wasn’t quite right 👌
Loving the Roman blind / roller blind compo.
I offer the whole package
FABRIC CHOICES
MEASURING
ONLY SPEAK TO ME
ORGANISE FITTER
The process might take 6-8 wks on average, but if you want quality service, product and fitting. Years of experience takes time…….
More pelmet board fitting next wk. Then a few more measures and design consultations, but generally it’s gone a little quiet out there, so pls give me a ring and we can discuss all things fabric!!

WHO DIESN’T LIKE A TRIM?
My client wanted a trim to bring in their love for Morocco. I sourced patterned fabrics and geo all overs, but as the windows were so huge it would’ve swapped the room. I hope you agree what we settled on is perfect. We even used this super duper new lining from Hallis with thermal and BO properties that looks silver!!
I used extra wide fabric, so it can be railroaded - pls ask if you don’t know what this means ? !.
Loving my clients who want to add something a bit special, bespoke, unique and perfect for their homes x

APRIL INTERIORS @ Cheltenham Racecourse.
I don’t normally make the effort to go to trade shows, as something else always seems to crop up- clients!
But I did it! I went… and enjoyed it. Saw tons of new fabrics, but managed to not buying books .., just pole samples!
uk - stunning headboards with attention to detail ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
pom-pom-poms 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
- love ❤️ the new collection.
Also saw new black components and tracks with actual BLACK hooks and tape - what a break through ,no more me needing to spray hooks a darker colour!!
Moral of the story…. To see new products I need to get my arse to the trade shows!! 🙄🙄🙈

Wowsa, this new collaboration with Temperley London x Romo - yum. What do you think are you darling enough. I am totally loving same wallpaper same window dressings and I think it might be catching 🤞
I also have books - in fact way to many, so I might have to cull over the Easter break.
Ooo and another quick question to insta gurus. Where am I supposed to put hashtags now?? Straight after this or in comments - I have no clue 🤷‍♀️

ROOM DIVIDING DOUBLE SIDED CURTAIN
I have meant to post this about a week ago, but happy to say I’ve been in and out of appointments with lovely new potential clients so run out of time and energy!
Now sitting in a soft play area after about 2 yrs I am finding the time. My 9 yr old is having fun, but realised she’s grown a lot in this time! 🙄
I did a story short film of the hooks that I sprayed with my husbands car spray paint and you can see they work a treat and the colour will last. These curtains ( as you can imagine) are super heavy so we used a track with heavy duty brackets and luckily screw into a few joists!
These curtains dampen the traffic noise perfectly and will be a great blackout solution. They look stunning too 🤩🤩

80mm wave heading on a metropole.
This single curtain arrived as a surprise for my customer as my lovely curtain lady managed to get it made pre Christmas 🎅
We sourced double width lining from Houlès in France, so when the curtains are closed there is no vertical join- they looked lovely and this photo doesn’t due the fabric justice.
Just a couple more jobs to do before the weekend, with my youngest daughter with me as I didn’t realise she broke up yesterday 😟😟.
She’s currently in the park in between jobs to keep her happy 🙌

…..UPHOLSTERY…..
Along with curtains and blinds part of my one to one service that I give my customers is upholstery of tired and saggy ☹️furniture. An armchair or 2 are great ways to bring a room to life and like a downstairs toilet you can go a little bit crazy with the fabrics you choose along with piping.
This velvet piping I found at at the showroom and I am hoping one will co ordinate well with the other fabric options from
Again happy to help with all sorts of projects and I am the sourcing queen👑👑👑

has some great fabrics and Oxfordshire based. I gave only been lucky enough to use her fabrics a few times on projects, but she has done collaborations to upcycle furniture with her designs.
Training asa textile designer myself IK ow how tough it is out there to make your small business work. So go look@at her website and you’ll find unique cards and accessories.

Wave heading curtains
Not 100% sure my curtain lady likes making these contemporary heading 80mm wave curtains or ripple fold or many other names now on the market for this particular curtain heading, but I love it 💕
It works so well for a no fuss, consistent fold in curtains, especially on larger windows 👍🏻👍🏻

TRIMS, TRIMS, TRIMS
Went to Focus/21 at a few weeks ago and fell in love with shop- literally walk to wall trims of every kind, colour, price and crazyiness. All soft furnishings should adorn something and every taste can be satisfied!
Ordered a couple of piping books from velvet and standard, this keeps the cost down and way easier to add piping to cushions etc 👍🏻👍🏻
More and more thick braids are sewn down the leading edges and along the top of curtains so even with a plain neutral curtain you can add a bit of wow 🔥🔥
Don’t get me started on the pom-poms!! ☄️☄️☄️

⭐️ADD A BIT OF COLOUR ⭐️
Who doesn’t love a scatter cushion ( most men excluded!! )
They can add the colour that you desire without having to fully commit, as they can even be changed seasonally 🤷‍♀️
These cushions did just that and designed specifically to bring the colours in from the wall art.
I can be called in for small jobs like this and now I can include lampshades as I’ve learned how to make basic designs myself 👍🏻👍🏻
- the main print
- the teal
- the pipping

BRIGHT ROOMS - who dares?
I am working on this bright scheme for a children’s playroom. The brief bright and fresh and I think this fits the bill. There are a few other options for the client to choose from.
A nice bright roller blind for when you want to partially stop the light streaming in, with a Pom Pom trim you fancy!!
The colourful embroidered leaf fabric is surprisingly well priced from@porterandstone. Stunning colours of poles In Matt or high gloss from .
I am taking more and more projects like this on where I can not o my supply the window dressings, but suggest great pieces of furniture and lighting to bring the room together 👍🏻👍🏻
Who wants to spend hours on the internet searching, when I can do it for you and no exactly where to go to do it..
All the window dressings are bespoke so you can’t compare what I offer to online, just me but I give the best service I can - no call centres and crazy lead times 🤞🏻 Well sometimes there are, but at least I’ll let you know 👏🏼👏🏼

I WAS MEANT TO POST THIS AGES AGO!!!
Honestly I don’t know why I find it so hard to post content??! I have tons of imagery and projects that have finished or in progress, but do I post pics -NO!!
Anyway here the the new collection by called Minakari. There are velvet prints, silks, embroidery and a fabulous range of accessories to co ordinate. If you think Designers Guild just do full o
n colour, think again as they have a muted floral colour way for those of you who can’t do too bold. The design Kasuti is my favourite at the moment ( but these things change!) They can be curtaining and some upholstery, so that tired old chair in the corner you could use one of these fabrics.
I’ve been continuing my long drawn out project of decoupaging a mid century dresser!! It is literally taking forever. I’m enjoying actually making and being creative rather than just selling fabrics….
Not everything has to be new, just a little vision required to buy new and upcycle other things 👍🏻👍🏻
Another lampshade being made this wk, so all my crafty pictures to follow - if I can do it- you can do it!!

It’s a blue day!!!
I received a superb appointment prompt today on the line of design a potential customer would like to see. They’ve ( unfortunately) got the wallpaper, headboard, bedding etc and now I am going to with complimentary fabrics to bring the rest of the room together.
I have them packed in the car ready to go and they range from mid to high price point. Embroidery/ prints and of course the classic plains thrown in.
A fair amount of work goes on before and after an appointment , as I don’t just b**g any old fabric in the car! 🤨I’ve been guided by what they’ve told me prior to the appointment. Then post appointment estimates take a good few hours to put together, especially if a whole house... Don’t know about you but always get frustrated when I hear nothing back, that is were the
‘ should I charge for my consultations are coming from’
I live appointments and being able to let customers aware of what available other than the usual - 📞📞📞📞☎️☎️☎️ Let me help you create the perfect room x ❤️

04/05/2021

My days are pretty varied, but today involved planning the removal of curtains and romans I did a few years back and squeezing them into a much smaller marketing suite.
I have completed jobs like this from previous customers too moving house. This not only helps them keep old favourites but spend a bit more money on refreshing and updating.
I’ve also been clearing out old fabric books that I’ve got tired of looking at and investing in

I am wanting to inject new excitement into my appointments, giving you the opportunity to get new cushions, throws, headboards - all with great trims and detailing, bespoke and thought out. I’d love to get in the home to advise on wall paint and wallpaper - Yes, I do this too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥳🥳
I’m toying with the idea of charging a refundable £50 initial consultation!! I’d love to know your thoughts on this? Pros and cons .....

ROLLER BLINDS
When a roman blind can potentially take up too much room in a window with a view or light from a north facing window, a roller is a winner.
There used to be and still are some fairly dodgy fabric choices out there with thousands of colours and textures to choose from. My main roller sold is a voile/ sheer designed to stop people being able to look in, in the day and giving you the light and visibility looking out. Great in bathrooms, but we warned at night you can see everything looking in 👙
The classic blackout roller is still popular and used in conjunction with Romans and / or curtains for bedrooms mostly 👍🏻
You can now get rollers to be fitted inside ceiling recesses so that the brackets and cassette totally disappear - genius 👍🏻
You can get the all singing, all dancing covered pelmet cassettes, which can of course be motorised... the prices can be minimal or pretty eye watering, but loads of options.
Laminated roller blinds are a great choice if you want to co ordinate with other fabrics/ curtains in your room to pull a scheme together.
I can advise you the best options with a quick look at your windows 👍🏻
More blind posts to follow in the next wk or so - hopefully you find it kinds interesting 🤷‍♀️🤞🏻🤞🏻

Roman Blinds
Waterfall, cascade, self stacked, bonded, interlined, lined, side panels, track, chain - what col, left or right, outside or inside recess, with rollers, with curtains, motorised... I’m exhausted just trying to think of all the possibilities and I haven’t even started on the shape!! Trims, contrast bound edges, beads—— basically you need a professional like me to come over and help you decide and not make expensive mistakes!! 😜
Fitted a few blinds tomorrow, so photos to follow.
I have used pics from articles and from customers homes, so I’ve listed them all 👍🏻👍🏻

My company may be called OXFORD CURTAIN CONSULTANCY but I can design a house/ room using all the types of blinds you can imagine and ones you didn’t even know existed!
🤷‍♀️
🤷‍♀️
I’d say my most popular, requested is-
1st - fabric roman blind

2nd - voile or blackout roller blind
3rd - Shutters and wood venetian blinds
4th - Duette or pleated blinds
5th - Duo and a silhouette, both have various different names dependant on the supplier!
6th - Verticals ( mainly because I’m not a big fan!)
I can help with all of the above and have samples to show. More and more people are asking for motorised, which I love as then it gets all a bit technical 👍🏻
I’ll post pictures this week in my stories and grid of projects I have completed and images that I find. Really the only way to get what suits your home is for me to pop over and have a look!! Appointments are a tad sporadic at the moment due to my commitments with homeschooling, but I am getting out and about occasionally so please get in touch. I can rope my husband in to homeschool for a few hours I’m sure!??!!??

Sooksan happiness is my sisters company that of course is struggling to get her company seen at the moment.
She has been sourcing lively original accessories from all over the world, but mostly South East Asia for the last 20 + yrs. Go have a look and ask her directly if you like anything and I’m sure she’ll tell you everything in more detail and pip in the post for a special pressie xx

03/11/2020

This is the start of 2 large 7m wide and 3m drop windows.
-
-
-
The very patient builders had to create and build out a wall to accommodate the small area to mount the recess channel and electric track. It took a day or 2, but well worth it when I hang the . The curtains should look like they are hanging from the ceiling and will look stunning as we have used extra wide fabric, which unfortunately can not be railroaded as the drop is too high. But it will still result in not too many vertical fabric joins -
-
-
-
If you are building a new home or extending on what you already have and want a modern/ contemporary look a recessed track is the way to go. Better still add it into your smarthome and have it all automated 👍🏻👍🏻
-
-
-
You can also recess blinds for a similar floating from the ceiling effect. I know if or should I say when we build or extend we will definitely be introducing smart features into our home-

TRIMS, TRACKS and TRACKED POLES...……
I had a visit today from a rep , we’ve been attempting to meet up for ages so great to see a face to my go to supplier of mid range poles, tracks, trims. They supply higher price point as well so nice to have a reminder of this!!
I particularly liked the new Opulent trims book and was drawn to the indigo and mustard velvet pipping, along with yummy embroidered braids that remind me of ... not the same of course, just similar 👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve been using tracks for yrs, so invested in a show board of all the tracks, so clients can see the track with brackets etc 👍🏻 ( boring to some, but I LOVE it 🤫🤫)
The wood poles they can now add a track into, therefore eliminating the rings was good to know and at a really reasonable price... so they will be on my to sell soon to clients list🤞🏻
It’s great to make time for the reps (as often I don’t) as I’ve got clients to see and estimates to do, but it really does keep you up to date with all the new ranges - MUST try harder 🙄
