The Dorset Days Photography
Hi there, I am Jess Cooper-Dawkins and these are the days of capturing my days in West Dorset and sha
A beautiful day to walk amongst the trees, one of my favourite forest spots with all the bay trees - perfect at autumn as they change to orange and yellows. Phone snap - I wasn’t meant to be taking pictures but I couldn’t resist snapping away and the phone does not give justice to the beautiful light there.
Landscapes for Life Photo Exhibition | Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
The Landscapes for Life photo exhibition will continue to be displayed at Durlston Country Park throughout September. I very much enjoyed my visit there last week.
The beautiful display of images showcases the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - AONB at its best, throughout the seasons.
You will see my snap there along with the rest of the photos taken by talented local photographers.

Autumn is the start of harvest time, and the gateway to some of the most beautiful sunsets to come this season.
The lovely village of Puncknowle, Dorset. I was treated to both extremes with sunshine and stormy clouds. My favourite combination of weather.
Visiting my picture being displayed at the Dorset celebrating 60 years AONB 'landscape for life' photography competition today at the beautiful location of Durlston Country Park 🥰
Was so impressed with all the other entities, really enjoyed seeing their snaps of the wonderful Dorset. I left feeling very inspired by it and so glad it was put together.

They love saying hello, but I think they are starting to milk it a bit too much 😅
Wow, well this National Trust walk at Langdon Hill really has all you could ask for:

I am very pleased to say that my photograph has been selected to be shown at ‘Dorset’s AONB 60th anniversary celebrations photographic exhibition’ and was one of nine commended entries. 🥰 I am very honoured for my picture to be beside so many other talented photographers.
The exhibition will be on display between 12th and 31st August at Durlston Country Park Fine Foundation Gallery.
Wasn’t the poppy picture I was after but it was the one I got 😅 I was a bit late to the poppy party since most had fallen and had some access issues thanks to my baby belly making me a bit of a wimp getting into the field. There’s always next year!!
Volunteer World
Blast from the past: My Toucan photo back from when I volunteered with IPBio - Reserva Betary & Volunteer World back in 2016 Brazil. One of the most amazing experiences of my life.

Misty sunsets. I wasn’t expecting much last night but then the light came through a gap in the clouds and created the most beautiful golden light through the mist - unfortunately this photo doesn’t quite do it justice so you’ll have to take my word for it. That’s the beauty of sunsets, they keep you on your toes - always expect the unexpected!
Could almost think you were on a tropical island paradise, but then you realise your somewhere better... Dorset 😉
I was taking too many pictures of Mills my doggo that I didn’t actually get a good picture of Gold Hill that wasn’t with her in it - Your Welcome! 😅🙈
so here is Gold Hill... and Mills 😂🥰

Cheeky phone snap from my beach walk at Burton Bradstock. Very sad to hear of all the antics happening at the Dorset beaches at the moment, it’s beyond belief.
Keep safe and stay considerate.
Colmers Hill is iconic in this town so trying to find a new perspective can be tricky but I thought I would give the challenge a go...

There is nothing quite like Summer evenings especially after the solstice. I always start to appreciate them that little bit more knowing that they are slowly becoming shorter and shorter with each day.
My local sunset spot is a constant but that doesn’t mean it stays the same. This time I had a new friend meeting me by the gate.
A view of the bride valley with Colmers Hill. I’ve loved having all the hot weather and clear blue skies but clouds create the most beautiful sunsets. Was treated to a sunset and a rainbow last night ☺️ After a manic few months of moving, pregnancy and covid - I am back to work on my long over due Dorset Days postcards.
What pictures would you like to see on them?
A snapshot from last August on a clear summers evening in better times. The wonderful Bridport with the famous Colmer’s Hill peeping in the background. This town doesn’t just have character on the outside but also with the wonderful people inside.
VE Day in Puncknowle during Lockdown. Together but apart ❤️
Anyone else counting sheep tonight? Sunsets and these cheeky faces on my evening stroll.

Exploring the beautiful village of Puncknowle whilst in Lockdown. Finding hidden walks on the search for bluebells, unsuccessful on finding the bluebells but successful at finding new sunset view points. Will be sharing them soon once the sun comes out again.
Hope everyone is staying safe! Picked up the camera on some of my daily walks as I stumble across some of Dorset’s delights from my doorstep. When things feel bleak and I go for my walk I am reminded of how grateful I am to live here especially as spring is blooming.

Hi, I'm Jess. As you can see I am normally the one taking the photos! I recently moved to Bridport from the commuter towns of both Surrey & Kent, where I have lived the past few years. It's only been 4 months and I feel so at home already - the people are friendly, the scenery is stunning and to be honest, there isn't much else I could ask for. I will enjoy soaking it in and finding it's beauty and hidden spots for the next few days, months and years to come...
