A nice lunch stop, if travelling up the A12 to Thorpeness, is the attractive village of Dedham with its large church and pastel-coloured buildings. The Sun Inn in the main street (bright yellow building in first photo) is worth checking out, or there's a peaceful park close by for a picnic lunch. A short walk away is the Boatyard Eatery on the river bank, with rowing boats for hire. Not far from Dedham is Flatford Mill, where you can compare the current day scene with that depicted in John Constable's famous painting ('The Hay Wain').

It's less than a minute's walk from Regatta to the beach. If you then turn right and walk past a row of holiday homes, traditional and modern, a wide flat area opens up behind the beach, along which people walk from Thorpeness to Aldeburgh and vice versa. On Thorpeness Beach check out the traditional cairn built out of the local coralline crag. https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/21282697.stunning-traditional-cairn-built-hand-suffolk-beach/

Our favourite local walk from the apartment. We call it The Railway Walk because part of it follows the track of the old branch line from Leiston to Aldeburgh. There was once a small station or halt at Thorpeness to cater for holidaymakers. Maps taken from https://countrysidebooks.co.uk/blogs/news/suffolk-boxing-day-walk-thorpeness-4-5-miles and fromhttp://www.suffolkcoastandheaths.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Aldeburgh-Thorpeness-Walk.pdf which describes a longer version of the walk.

My sister and I are the owners of Regatta, a modern studio style apartment situated between The Meare (large boating lake) and the beach at Thorpeness on the Suffolk coast. The apartment is raised ground floor with disabled-friendly ramp access and has a small patio.

Regatta is a perfect retreat for couples looking to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Suffolk coast and its many lovely walks, or for a corporate guest looking for a short term business stay.

The apartment is set up for self-catering but there is a useful bistro style cafe on-site (The Kitchen Thorpeness) which is open 09:00h to 17:00h. And it's a short walk to a vibrant pub restaurant (The Dolphin) and to Thorpeness Golf Club, also offering bar snacks and restaurant meals. Aldeburgh (for other eating and drinking options, including excellent fish and chips) is a 30-40 minute walk along the beach.
