Come and discover TRE®, a set of seven simple exercises which activate your body’s innate healing mechanism: the neurogenic tremor.

TRE® safely releases emotional stress, physical tension and stored trauma held within the muscles and tissues of the body. Because TRE® switches on the parasympathetic nervous system, many people report feeling instantly calmer and more peaceful after just one session. TRE® is a powerful self-help tool which can be practiced independently once learned.

In this two hour workshop, you will be invited to privately complete a short questionnaire to assess your level of chronic stress, tension and trauma. You will learn how TRE® works to balance and regulate your nervous system as well as what types of health issues TRE® can help relieve. We will do a group TRE® session with sound healing music, after which you will be invited to share what your experience was like with the group. (Participation in group discussion is of course optional.)

We will come together to create a safe and non-judgmental group space to allow for the release of anything from the mind, body and soul that no longer serves us.

There are four main types of response to stressful and traumatic events. Most of us know about 'Fight' and 'Flight' but 'Fawn' and 'Freeze' are equally important and hugely prevalent responses. TRE® helps regulate the nervous system back to a feeling of safety so that we no longer have to change our behaviour in order to gain a perceived sense of safety.

What do we actually mean by the word ‘trauma’?

According to trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté, trauma is something that happens to everybody. His book 'The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture' (2022) eloquently explains the rise of chronic mental and physical illnesses as a response to trauma. In this book Maté provides us with a beautiful definition of trauma:

“Trauma is an inner injury, a lasting rupture or split within the self due to difficult or hurtful events. By this definition, trauma is primarily what happens within someone as a result of the difficult or hurtful events that befall them; it is not the events themselves. ‘Trauma is not what happens to you but what happens inside you’ is how I formulate it.”

The film 'The Wisdom of Trauma' (2021) featuring Maté aims to shed more light on the epidemic of trauma in today’s society. The directors’ statement explains why we should all pay attention to this silent epidemic.

“When we started this film, we thought that we were among the lucky ones who had had a happy childhood. We thought that trauma was caused by bad things happening to people; REALLY bad things: War, murder, violence, sexual exploitation... But trauma, as we learned from Dr. Gabor Maté, happens to everybody.

Individually and collectively we carry a backlog of pain that has never been heard because we miss narratives to help us share, witness and hold space for each other’s deepest wounds. We hold the vision of a society that can acknowledge the truth about shame and the pain of unmet needs that live quietly but widely among us. Trauma cannot always be conquered, fixed, or resolved, but it can be heard, held and loved.”
