SGS Colour Run 2024
πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ§‘πŸ©·πŸ©΅

Our school field was filled with both laughter and colour yesterday afternoon as our Year 7 and 12 students made their way around. We loved celebrating the end of their first year of school/ sixth form here with us at Skegness Grammar School.

16/07/2024

We’re looking forward to celebrating the end of our Year 7 students first year at SGS and our Year 12 students first year of sixth form with the Colour Run event tomorrow.

We will distribute the t-shirts, medals, sunglasses and paint powder bags for paid entries tomorrow. Non-paid entries are to bring their own (preferably white) t-shirt to change into. Please ensure you do this as you'll need your PE kit for Thursday and Friday this week! We would also suggest a carrier bag to put your colourful t-shirt in afterwards.

Heads of year, form tutors and teachers are looking forward to celebrating.

DRET Summer Cup 2024πŸ’šπŸ’›

We are incredibly proud of TeamSGS taking part in all aspects of the DRET Summer Cup. This included; Athletics, Tennis, Swimming, Table Tennis and Boccia. We also had students acting as young leaders to support with the running of the events. We are delighted to have achieved our aim, placing 3rd in the pinnacle event of the DRET Sport calendar. This was a fantastic result, and an improvement from last year. We were also crowned Boccia champions and the 6th Form Cup trophy winners.

It was remarkable to see how our SGS students behaved with respect and good values in competition. It was a truly phenomenal day of sport. We were accompanied by several elite athletes, including Colin Jackson CBE who presented the day. All participants demonstrated such fantastic determination, sportsmanship and encouragement. Well done to you all for your hard work in practice leading up to the event, and for delivering outstanding performances on the day. We are so proud of each one of you.

Students attended an exciting rewards trip at the David Ross Sports Village, University of Nottingham last week. Selection for the trip was by random name generator consisting of all students in gold across our student charter board - whether it be due to attending 10+ clubs, representing SGS in a fixture each term, acting as a young leader or by competing in a house competition.

Those 10 students lucky enough to be drawn out, enjoyed a range of activities including rock climbing, dodgeball, Thai boxing, wheelchair basketball and tag rugby. It was a fantastic day of trying new things, and what a wonderful time we had.

We would like to congratulate all students that have worked hard to earn their place in GOLD this academic year. πŸ‘πŸΌ
