I enjoy repairing machines but destroying can be great fun too 🤣

Customer says it blows transmission fuse and stops that's really the only problem. What this truly means is the front dashboard, windscreen wipers, brake lights, 4WD braking all don't work and the warning buzzer is removed because it goes off constantly and the rear nearside light unit is smashed to bits. It still goes but this fault stops it.
Replace the 4WD solenoid, transmission pressure switch, light unit, maxi fuse holders and repair some damaged wiring.
Still not perfect but doing quite well for a 20 year old 3CX.

Double decker bus repairs. It's parked on a glamping site and I was told the kids love playing round it. On investigation of why it wouldn't start found the fuel system was full of water so removed the 30 litres of water from the fuel tank and cleaned out the system. I'm still amazed that it started up after this level of abuse but it is a Gardener engine.

Engine for 527-58FS finally rebuilt.

Photos from Dragons Engineering's post 19/01/2022

527-58FS in for major rebuild. Boom needs new bushes and shimming, engine full rebuild, gearbox replacement, rear axle refurbishment, valve chest controls refurbishment and anything else that we find on the way. Scarey really even for me but only because I worry
about every job I do and this involves many but I love the old machines they were made to last! Not like modern stuff.
Cab off, boom out and gearbox in 12 hours so feeling ok about everything so far but never to confident 😊

JCB 525-58FS in for controls on valve chest overhaul and lift ram lower bush and pin. Didn't think pin was going to come out but eventually did after using 20 rods to burn most of the centre of the pin out.

JCB Fastrac 2135 clutch slave cylinder seal replacement.

I've replaced the clutch slave cylinder on this fastrac several times over the past few years only to have them repeatedly fail.
We have not used main dealer parts because a cylinder is just over £1000 compared to approximately £500 from what I looked apoun as reputable patent part suppliers. No seal kit is available from JCB.
On this occasion we stripped down all the old units including the original JCB unit. On doing so discovered the seals in the patent parts had swollen to twice their original size causing the failure, proving the seals are not compatible with light hydraulic fluid.
Considering the excessive cost of a replacement cylinder from JCB we found a hydraulic specialist willing to manufacture new high temperature seals compatible to light hydraulic fluid for less than £100.
Fitting the seals is a little difficult but it is possible to bench test the unit before installing in to the machine.
In conclusion I would advise everyone to be careful when buying patent parts for JCB part number 331/19970 and seriously think about resealing the unit instead.
