A recruitment campaign for the 2022 Youth Commissioners is now underway and the age range of those eligible has been extended to between 10 and 25 in an effort to capture the voice of even more young people from across North Yorkshire and York.

Anyone interested in giving their view on policing, fire and crime, developing leadership skills and representing their friends and classmates can apply to join the Commission.

Deadline for submitting applications - Friday 25 February.

Trustees are the decision makers, direction setters and arrangers of the Scouts locally.

They are a dedicated bunch of volunteers known as the Executive Committee and every Scout Group and District has one.

The Executive Committee in Scouts is like a board of governors in a school. Basically it ensures that the young people get the best possible experience in the local area.

The volunteers that make up the committee give their time to ensure that the District continues to meet its charitable purpose: safely and legally.

If you would like to nominate someone to join, whether that be yourself or someone else, please complete a nomination form. You can either message Harrogate Scouts on Facebook or email [email protected] to acquire one.

We are holding the inaugural North Yorkshire County Chess Tournament during April. This is an all-comers event, open to Scouting and Guiding youth and Adult members. It doesn't matter what your skill level is or how old you are!

We will be using a Chess app called Lichess. You will need to register (for free) with the app before you can join in. There's a link on the form to register with Lichess if you aren't already.

Practice rounds commence 12th April - the timings of these will be published later. Finals to be held as part of the St. George's Day activities on 25th April between 11:30am and 1pm, with a Grand Final at 2:30pm.

You don't have to take part in the practice rounds if you don't want to but they will help you get a ranking and learn how Lichess works! :)

There will be prizes! Which is why we're asking for a contact email and your section when you register.
