Addiction is not a choice and it’s tearing us apart.. black people have higher rates of obesity than any other ethnic group & when you look at our food environments it is very clear to see why.

The British Journal of Sports Science published an article which proved that sugar has similar effects on the brain as drugs like co***ne!
Here are some of the key findings:
- Sugar alters mood and can induce reward and pleasure receptors in the brain, in the same way as co***ne & drugs like it.
- Studies on rats show significant similarities between eating sugar and drug-like effects such as bingeing, craving, tolerance, withdrawal, relapse and dependence
- The same studies showed that when given the choice between co***ne & sugar the rats would consistently choose sugar, which proves that sugar is indeed more addictive than co***ne

*Todays song choice.. At the height of the crack co***ne epidemic Baltimore was one of the worst affected areas in the states. Today at the height of the sugar epidemic 146,000 Baltimore residents live in a food desert which means sugar ridden food is almost all they have access to.

6,450 people die from Cancers Caused by Sugary Drink Consumption - Every Year

In 2020 I hit rock bottom.. I was severely anxious & depressed, dealing with daily panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.. By the end of 2020 I was also obese, I had tried to eat away my pain and it showed..
