Painting from Intuition at .

🌟Intuition is the ability to understand something instinctively without the need for conscious reasoning.

🌟Did you know that creativity and intuition are intricately linked?

🌟When you engage in a creative activity you are strengthening your connection to your intuition, and as you develop your intuition, you also enhance your creativity.

🌟Creating from intuition allows us to connect with our emotions making art that FEELS right, not what we think is right.

🌟Intuitive Art has no rules, no logic, no right or wrong, and nothing is either good or bad. It is a wonderful way to quieten the mind and body, allowing yourself to become fully absorbed in the present moment.

Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed or anxious? This simple yet effective exercise is a great way to turn negative energy into something positive.

🌟Start by closing your eyes and using a pencil and some paper start to scribble. Try not to think about what your image looks like. Just scribble. Let all your frustrations out onto the paper.

🌟Your lines may be hard or heavy but that's OK. Just let out whatever naturally wants to come out.

🌟Next, take a moment to sit back, take some deep restorative breaths and then study your scribble. You may want to turn the paper around or upside down to really look at it.

🌟Now turn your scribble into a positive image. Can you see any shapes or forms emerging from your lines? Be creative, use coloured pencils or pens and start using your scribble to create a positive image.

🌟If you can't see an image within your scribble, simply start colouring in the various sections. Add patterns, shapes and bright colours. Turn your scribble into something beautiful.

🌟By allowing yourself time and space to be creative, you are helping to lower the stress response in your body, leaving you feeling calmer and more relaxed.

If you give this exercise a try I'd love to see your positivity scribbles. Please do post them below.

Much love
Karen x

Hi there I'm Karen 🌟

I'm an Artist and Creative Arts Facilitator and I'm proud to say I love my job.

I run wellbeing workshops combining creative arts processes with breathwork and meditation to relax the mind and body. I teach techniques to lower the stress response in the body, helping to improve overall well being. I live by what I teach; gratitude, breathwork, kindness, self compassion and meditation are all a fundamental part of my own self care toolkit. I love to share my knowledge, helping to empower others to become the best versions of themselves.

When I'm not teaching I'm either painting colourful contemporary abstracts, or working part time as Gallery Manager at . You can find out more about my paintings here 👇

I love Boxer dogs, art, adventures, being outdoors, walking on the beach, cosy snuggles, open fires, watching sunsets, frosty mornings, lazy summer evenings, connecting with friends, dancing in my kitchen, good food, singing my heart out, open spaces, nature, and I'm partial to the odd cold water dip too!

I'd love to connect with some of my followers. Drop me a message below and tell me something about you 🧡

A lovely workshop looking at identity at . The participants considered their personality traits then drew themselves as the animal they thought most represented them.

We talked about the therapeutic benefits of using clay followed by a mindfulness exercise to connect with the clay, bringing about a sense of calm and relaxation for the mind and body. The participants then created their own self portraits out of clay with some fabulous results.

Links is a mental health charity supporting people with mental health issues to build confidence, self esteem and skills. For more information visit https://www.links.uk.net/

This week I have been working on something a little different with Y Tŷ Celf - The Art House and Communities for Work+ supporting the mental health of young people age 16+, teaching them new skills and providing work experience within a safe, welcoming and non judgemental environment.

We have been making gorgeous burlap reindeer food bags which will be sold within the community and all profits given to Age Cymru. We have also been making some beautiful festive cards which will be hand delivered to the homes of vulnerable people across the community to help combat isolation whilst spreading some festive cheer.

Well done to all the young people who took part. It was wonderful to meet you all, chatting and being creative together.

A huge thank you to Liz Glass Heart Art who co facilitated these workshops with me (especially for doing all the leg work when I had a poorly knee!)

Merry Christmas x

Self Care Tip no 2 - Mindfulness Creating Circles.

Creating circles is a very therapeutic form of art. The act of drawing circles over and over again allows us to slow down and become fully absorbed in the present moment, quieting the mind, relaxing the body, and focusing on the now.

Start with a few deep breaths to relax your nervous system and connect yourself with this moment. Now take your pen or pencil and simply start drawing circles. Focus on the act of drawing circles, keep breathing, and when your mind starts to wander notice your thoughts then let them pass on by, bringing your attention back to the circles. Watch as you draw the circles, notice how your body feels and try to release any areas of tension.

You can vary your circles in size, thickness or colour. You can add spirals or patterns, or overlap your circles if you so wish. The important thing here is not to pay attention to the final outcome, but simply to allow yourself to become fully absorbed in the process.

I love the simplicity of this activity. It has become my new 'go to' exercise when I need some time to ground myself, to let go of stresses, or just take a quiet moment for myself.

Go on, give it a go. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments 🌟
