Violet Peacock
Welcome to Violet Peacock. We specialize in unique millinery creations; handmade hats with an emphas
At Violet Peacock, we are inspired by vivid colors, dramatic shapes and, of course, all things theatrical! Because of this no two creations are alike, an ethos we stick to! We encourage custom orders and will work closely with you to bring your ideas to life! All items are handmade with meticulous attention to detail, in a clean, smoke-free studio.
An appreciation post for Wayne of WD Handyman services.
We’ve used him for probably a dozen projects over the past 18 months & hes Always friendly, professional & his work has been top notch.
Today he popped over to put up my new pegboard, and brought me the cutest little cactus to remind me of Texas.
On TOP of all that, in his *spare* time, he takes his hedge trimmers out into the community & trims down overgrown hedges that are impeding pathways or making it hard for the more vulnerable in the community to safely use, never asking anything for it.
Community hero, right there! Thanks Wayne :)
I love when clients send me photos! I think Nichola looks Stunning in her photos. Making for friends is equal parts nerve wracking and rewarding!
One of the best parts of being an in-store milliner, (other than the hats) is being able to offer hair/make up advice & just generally being able to help women feel beautiful & confident!
This is my friend, Barbara. She is Scottish! We met in Houston many years ago. This is Barbara wearing Violet Peacock to a wedding….In Italy…But she needed the hat to get to Aberdeen (still with us?)
So this is an English-Scottish (I’m half Scottish) designed Fascinator for my Scottish friend who lives in Texas, but needed it for a wedding in Italy and sent to Aberdeen.
Somehow, we made it work & she seemed to like it.
It was the worst quality sinamay I’ve ever worked with & there were many curse words yelled at it.
Oh, and I had to colour match from a photo!
100 pts to Violet Peacock (and Barbara too, as she was the Best client!

1st day of my dream job tomorrow. I’ve never been this excited about starting a job before; I still can’t believe I get paid to play with hats all day!
The Met Gala 1024 was a great event for Millinery.
Which was your favourite?
I’m quite excited to see people’s Met Gala outfits this evening. The theme is Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
It’s my birthday.
If you’ve ever bought or worn a Violet Peacock hat (or have a favourite), make my day and post a photo!

More late night contemplations..
I’m going to go through the VP archive and select my favourite pieces and post the album on here.
I’m developing an idea of who I *think* I am and I’m curious as to if/how this album will reflect this.
I’m a creative type but also a fairly realistic person. I’m never going to be “the next big thing”, make a million £££ or anything like that but that’s fine.
I’m lucky I’m in a position where I may be able to make for the love of millinery (we will see) but I do feel like my album excercise will potentially show I have 2 distinct “tiers” I work within.
I’d be interested in seeing if Violet Peacock can work like that; sellable/commercial pieces vs Avant Garde/artistic/Performance pieces.
Watch this space and feel free to join the discussion 🙂

Do people still consider Easter Hats? I used to love my Gran making me an Easter bonnet but I know a lot of people still consider a hat or fascinator essential for Easter.
What’s your opinion?
Ok..
Do I spend the day making smaller/easier to sell headpieces hoping they sell, or on a more interesting/challenging project?
Massive thank you to everyone who has added/accepted my new Instagram account. Much appreciated.

Today’s the day!
I’m awake, dressed, medicated & about to eat bacon sandwiches, the (hat-making) world is my oyster!
Colour/design help. I was able to to get these 2 colours of hood fairly inexpensively but not sure what complimentary/contrasting colours to use with them, especially the pale pink as it’s not a colour I use often.
Am open to suggestions
