NW Spring Showdown 24 Recap

9/9 first timer, British Open re-qualifier, long term injury denier⚡️

Squat: 190/205/220 (+2.5kg)
Bench Press: 125/130/135 (+7.5kg)
Deadlift: 210/230/245 (+17.5kg)
Total: 600KG (+32.5kg)
🥇

After an 8 month injury, and hopping on a proper training structure just before Christmas. This is 3-4months of building.

My goal for today was to PR my total without going all out, that was a success! I had at least 5-7kg more on squat and bench, and possibly 2-5kg on deadlift.

⚡️I’ll post individual lift recaps soon⚡️

Thanks to for the great venue, for hosting a beautifully ran event, for stepping up to the plate and handling me and thanks to everyone who came out or watched the live stream for the support⚡️

⚡️Evan Warlow⚡️

This was Evan’s first competition under Undeniable coaching, his second sanctioned competition and third overall competition.

We spent a lot of energy fine tuning his training leading into this competition, with a couple of revamps leading into prep so we could find out what really works based off of previous training data. I can honestly say we peaked Evan perfectly for this, I couldn’t have asked for a smoother prep⚡️

With a healthy 27.5kg total PR, and PRs in each individual lift, not to mentioned a smooth 9/9 day, Big Ev had a stellar performance.

👏🏼

CLIENT COMPETITION RECAP
eam

With arguably the best prep yet. This prep went exactly as planned, with no major hiccups and even some PRs in training. Ewan increased his total by another incredible amount bumping it up to 660KG and no sign of slowing down.

The only missed lifts of the day were all on technicals, no strength issues - which puts him in a great place for his next venture onto the platform.

And hopefully, that platform will be the English Nationals 👀

Managing intensity and fatigue🗣️

If you push too hard for too long you’ll burn out, so why does it seem like a lot of people around you can push so hard for so long, hit PRs, make progress, gain size etc without slowing down?

Well most of these people have either figured out HOW to manage fatigue, or they’ve got a good coach intelligently planning their workouts.

Method 1:
Regular deloads, scheduled deloads are an easy way to make sure you’re giving your body the rest it needs to recover, giving you the ability to push hard again in your next block. The trouble with regular deloads are that you can’t always guarantee your body necessarily “needs” a deload, and you may be pulling back too soon and miss out on progress.

Method 2:
Irregular deloads. I like these a little more, monitoring training data as a coach is a valuable tool that I can use to understand whether a lifter is beginning to slow down or fatigue. During this point, we’ll throw in a deload where necessary.

Method 3. Periodising your training.
At this point we all know what RPE is, or RIR (and if you don’t, comment below and I’ll explain), but I like to build up to high intensity sessions over a short period of weeks, then sitting at the highest intensity for a small period of time (for example; CHEST PRESS @ 7-8 week 1, 8-9 week 2, 10 week 3, and 4).
This way, you’re able to build up to a high intensity phase, perform well, then back off slightly.

I personally use a mixture of all 3 depending on the client.

West Mids Spring Champs 23’
eam absolutely killed this one, self admittedly he’s had hurdles to get over in his life outside of the gym - nevertheless he persevered and came out with an amazing performance!

Ewan finished 2nd overall and adding a massive 70kg onto his total! All that’s left now is to iron out some bits in his training and Ewan’s total will sky rocket even further!

Super proud of Ewan’s performance, this is a true reflection of what dedicating yourself to the plan set for you can achieve.

If you’re interested in become part of a team that makes progress like this - follow the link in my bio and fill out an application form, email me at [email protected] or DM me!

West Mids Spring Champs 23’

made her second competition appearance here at the spring champs.

Overall Rhi had a successful day, adding 32.5kg onto her total and hitting new PR’s across all lifts💪🏼

Although missing a few attempt due to technicals and strength, Rhi had a great day and has proven that she can adapt to her circumstances easily. This competition has set the premise leading forward that she can effortlessly put more kilos onto her total when she’s dialled in.

I’m excited for the future of her lifting career and can’t wait to see what the next competition has in store🙏🏼

West Mids Spring Champs 23’

This is second comp under my coaching, the development in his mindset and composition on meet day should be counted as a PR on its own!

David finished his day with a 20kg increase on his total, even with narrowly missing his last deadlift due to a hand tear (imagine being too strong for your own skin💀) he still finished with PR’s all around!

So a huge well done is in order for Dave, who is one of the most coachable athletes I’ve had the chance to coach 💪🏼

It was a pleasure to coach and handle Sian through her prep and into her first competition and l'm excited to see where we can take her strength from here💪🏼

I’ll be posting a recap for him tomorrow!💪🏼

Swipe to see the value of good lighting ⬅️

This is probably so “over talked” about (if that’s even a phrase) but as more and more people enter the world of lifting, it’s still prevalent and worth talking about! Your favourite Instagram lifters/influence look completely different under harsh lighting, not to mention those that completely over use filters and editing software.

A bit of advice from me - stay realistic, stay humble and simply enjoy your time in the gym!

Find a programme that allows you to progress and enjoy the process, if you’re stuck on what to do in the gym, unsure about how to make progressions or just fancy a switch up - I can help you out!

Drop me a message and I’ll happily give you some tips to help out, alternatively if you know what you want - follow the link in my bio and fill out an application form so I can get in touch with you!🤌🏼

, WM Powerlifting Development Competition.

This was Rhiannon’s first ever competition!
She competed in the u69kg weight class as a sub junior, at only 17.

The goal for this competition was experience, to go in, have fun and understand what it’s like to compete in powerlifting. With it being Rhiannon’s first competition, everything she lifted was a new personal record (although if you include gym lifts, she managed to beat her record on her squat and deadlift!)

Finishing with 7/9, her best lifts were:
72.5kg squat (with plenty left in the tank)
40kg bench press (with a tiny bit left in the tank)
90kg (surprisingly, loads left in the tank!)

Watch this space! She’ll be back and even stronger next time.

As always, a massive well done to for hosting a really well ran event!

Ewan Morris, West Midlands Spring Open.

Ewan competed in the 105kg weight class, when Ewan started with me he weighed almost 20kg heavier, over the course of us working together we’ve dropped almost 3 stone in weight as well as increasing strength levels, revamping technique and building confidence.

Ewan went into his first competition with some nerves, but a great positive attitude. He finished 3rd in his class!

Squat: 197.5kg
Bench Press: 132.5kg
Deadlift: 232.5kg
& went 6/9.

With the weight loss goal, this prep proved difficult. But Ewan still finished with 2 personal bests, and has proven that with the correct mindset you can go very far.

It was a pleasure to coach and handle .eam at the very well ran event!

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable, it’s easy to do nothing so you can have an easy life, you need to step out of your comfort zone and prove to yourself that you’re more.

Use this post as a sign to get up and do the thing you know deep down you need to do. Whether it be working on your physical health, your body fat, your strength and fitness. Or maybe you need to act upon that business idea you’ve had in the back of your mind, quit that sh*tty job, contact that professional to help you out, read that book, listen to that podcast. Mate I don’t know I’m just rambling now, but go do that thing.

New rule: you’re not allowed to complain about something in your life unless you’re already trying to work on it.

THANK YOU❕

To every single one of my in person and online clients this year. If it wasn’t for you lot I wouldn’t be able to do what I love to do.

My whole goal is to bring strength training and fitness to as many people’s lives as possible, increase the confidence of everyone and achieve as many goals as possible, no matter the size!

This year a lot of foundations have been set, not only for my in person client base, but also my online client base, I have multiple people ready to compete this year, I have people that have fully introduced and accepted strength training and powerlifting into their lives for the first time, and I’ve got people achieving things they could only have dreamed of in terms of their movement capabilities and physique goals.

I’m incredibly proud of everyone that I’ve worked with this year, of course I don’t have a video or photo of everyone in this little post, but if I have worked with you, you’ve been a part of the journey and I appreciate you.

Now, onto another year of success 🎉🎉🎉

Passion, enjoyment.

I sometimes receive messages and have interactions with people that really want to achieve something, whether it be to lose weight, gain weight, get stronger or reach a specific milestone, but the issue is that they don’t actually enjoy doing what it takes.

Now I’m by no means a national or world class lifter or coach (yet), but I’ve come a long way in the last few years, and if someone was to ask me how I did it, my answer would simply be “because I love it”.
If you truly want to achieve something, you’ll have a passion for it, for the process, for the progress and for the possibility that some day you may just reach that milestone.

If you develop a level of enjoyment for the process, you’ll have the rare ability of consistency and with that, you’ll reach your milestone quickly and respect it much more.

So, don’t count the days until you reach your goal. Just count on yourself to succeed, because that’s a goal in itself.
