Tip of the day (or maybe year?!):

USE FROZEN BERRIES IN YOUR OATS

1) Mix instant porridge oats (supermarket own brand is great), frozen berries and milk in a bowl
2) Heat in microwave for 2 min
3) Top with some mYOUsli to give it a crunchy edge

Advantages:
1) Timesaving: nobody has time to make sure there are always fresh berries at home
2) Moneysaving: frozen berries are way cheaper than fresh ones
3) Environment-saving: to buy fresh berries out of season is not sustainable

So many things are put in the bin unnecessarily!

Take a butternut squash as an example;

1) After peeling it; put the peels on a baking paper-covered baking tray. Drizzle some olive oil and add salt to your liking. Roast at 180 deg C until crispy (about 20-25 min).

2) Remove all seeds and roast in a frying pan in a little bit of oil. Watch out - they eventually start popping like popcorn!
Add salt and enjoy as pre-dinner snack together with the crisps.

3) Use the butternut squash meat in the way you want; oven-roasted, blend into a soup, add to your lasagne....

The only thing you end up throwing away is the 'stalk end' of it!

Maybe somebody can suggest a use for that one, too?? :-)

I would much rather spend time with my loved ones playing in the garden or just chilling in the hammock.

Therefore - you will see less of me from my on!

Peel your eyes off the screen and notice how much time you actually have to speak to the people around you!

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY!

Today is a good day for taking that first step (or second or third, if you have started already) towards living a more environmentally friendly life.

One simple change to your life can mean a big change for the planet we live on.

We stopped buying handwash from the shop, and instead we now make our own liquid soap from soap bars. Of course - you can simply use the soap bar as is, but we simply have a preference for using liquid handwash. In taking this step we, as a family of four, avoid throwing away around 20 plastic bottles per year. Imagine if everybody would do this very small change!!

The 'real' quote does actually also mention 'fast' and 'easy'. We don't fully agree with this, since we believe it CAN be fast and easy to eat healthily!

It may also not be true that unhealthy food is always cheap, either...

However - most often fake food = not good for you!

We add no sugar, no fat and nothing else to our roast-at-home granola mixes. The only content will be the organic ingredients that you choose yourself!

There are so many little ways in which we all can contribute to a healthier planet.

You can start by making yourself aware of any packaging for foodstuffs that you buy, and that simply ends up in the bin (landfill or incineration) once empty. Can you find alternatives which are packaged in more environmetally friendly ways?

Happiness in a bowl!

Granola containing porridge oats, rye and wheat flakes, brown linseeds, flaked almonds and sunflower seeds.

Did you know that linseeds and flaxseeds are the one and same thing?
Also, the more finely ground the flaxseed, the less healthy it is. So, always choose whole flaxseeds!

We encourage all consumers to think further than the actual product they are choosing. What happens when you have emptied the contents of the purchase you have made - no matter whether it is food or a non-consumable item.

When you have finished that bag of breakfast cereal, or when you have removed that gift item from its packaging: what happens to the packaging??

Customers have the power to force producers to move in a more environmentally friendly direction, IF consumers choose not to buy their products due to for example non-recyclable plastic packaging!

Probably the most common misconception is that to skip a meal, very often breakfast, is good when you have weight loss as a target...

We believe that you should be able to enjoy anything you fancy eating, but in MODERATION! Incorporate movement and healthy lifestyle as part of your everyday routines. Especially important to give yourself an excellent start to the day with a healthy breakfast!

Packaging is a fascinating subject!

Isn't it curious how something that you will simply discard after consuming what is inside it can (and IS) definitely influencing your decision whether to buy the product or not!

The "Remove - Reuse - Recycle" mantra certainly influenced our decision on which packaging to choose for our product: It is as close to "remove" as you can get in a webshop.

After emptying the contents - simply re-purpose the packaging as plant food, indoors or outdoors!

Avocado and banana - a winning combination in your breakfast bowl!

We often enjoy our granola with filmjölk - a Swedish soured milk that has a consistency of a drinking-yoghurt. It marries perfectly with crunchy granola and fresh fruit.

We are strong believers in the Swedish "lagom". Although no English word for this exists - it means "just right"!

We believe that life should be lived according to this!

There is no need to run a marathon, or go to the gym every day to stay fit and healthy. Simple choices as part of your every day life will suffice: take the stairs instead of the lift, walk to the shop instead of getting into the car, play basketball with your children instead of sitting in front of the laptop.

There is no need to completely cut something out of your diet to eat healthily. You can still allow yourself some chocolate drops in your granola on a Saturday, a glass of wine on a Friday, or crunchy fries occassionally. Just not every day!

Lagom is not only relevant to food and exercise; the same principle can be applied to screen time for your children for example. Screens are not only a bad thing - give yourself some slack and stop feeling bad about letting your kids play games for a short while in the evening.

There is one thing where the "lagom principle" should NOT apply: Spending time with your family and the people you love. This cannot be prioritised often enough!

Get off to a warm start of the day! You can cook your muesli just like you would porridge:

Mix with milk (or milk alternative) and heat for a couple of minutes in the microwave or in a pot on the hob. You can still top with fresh fruits before eating!

Here it goes... We are actually NOT recommending peanut butter in your breakfast granola! Not our personal favourite - it just does not mix properly. Although...

We DO recommend the following as the liquid mixture when oven-roasting your granola at home:

2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp water

It is admittedly very hard work to control exactly what goes on your plate - but not impossible! And it's all worth it for the sake of staying healthy and ultimately feel well, both physically and mentally.

Saying that, it is extremely important to allow yourself some luxury now and then: a few chocolate chips in your muesli at the weekend, a little bit of natural sugar, such as honey, drizzled on your granola or some chocolate spread on your toast...
