It's been a while since we updated about Beezy Bun The Office Cat! Hasn't he got big? Trust us, it's not a typical diet....
Beezy is currently under strict watch as he is very partial to nibbling paper! 🤔
It's not so much a case of the dog eating the homework....🙊

Johnstone business suddenly closes after 50 years leaving 100 staff in the lurch 16/08/2019

Really very sorry to hear about the closure of this company, P&J Training.
We worked with this company from our very beginning in 2011, building a fantastic working relationship, acting as a training agent for many Renfrewshire companies including Chivas, Doosans, CGC and many more. A big thankyou from all at Pinnacle Training for the oppotunities over the years!

So our Director Jim Furie has spent the last few months working with the children of Todholm Primary School to design and craft an oak story telling chair. The children have done absolutely amazing, despite the laborious sanding 🙈
Incredibly proud of our little joiners, and all their hard work. They now have an engraved plaque on the chair so that their legacy lives on. 🙌

A HUGE thank you to one of our incredible P1 parents, Jim Furie who has led this P6/7 group on a wonderful woodwork project. The children and Jim have created a Storytelling chair for the Nursery outdoor area. The children have developed skills for life. Thank you Jim. 💐

❓❓❓FAQ❓❓❓
WHAT IS OSAT?

Depending on the type of work you carry out you may be able to undergo Onsite Assessment and Training (OSAT). This process assesses existing skills and experience and translates this into a nationally recognised qualification such as an NVQ or SVQ. Assessments are carried out whilst on site so no need to take time off to go to college.
No classrooms, no down time, just gaining an accredited award while you work 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫🙌

SHINE THE LIGHT MISS MARCH🕯️🤝

March’s “Shine The Light” nominee is Kathleen Weisner

She was nominated by her colleagues at Glasgow’s New Victoria Hospital, where she is an Auxiliary Nurse.

Kathleen,72, had previously retired but decided she was not finished with the world of work.
Having worked at clothing store Cones in Shawlands for 25 years, she was made redundant and so entered the world of nursing. She has been at Glasgow’s New Victoria Hospital for the last 9 years and is a highly esteemed member of the Day Surgery Unit.
Colleagues of Kathleen, described as “Very attractive and glamorous!”, praise her highly, inspired by her passion, “She keeps saying she needs to retire but she loves her job so much she just keeps going!”

But it is not just in the nursing world that she is held in admiration.
Kathleen, along with her partner of 30 years, Brian, are both parents and foster parents.
Kathleen and Brian have four children and 8 grandchildren between them as well as two boys, their foster children who are a permanent fixture in the home.
Kathleen was introduced to fostering by her friend, also a fosterer. She decided to apply as this would allow her to help her friend out at weekends.
Her daughter Niki says “It does not surprise me that she fosters, she always had a full house!”.
When two boys were in need of emergency respite, the social worker dealing with the boy’s case remembered Kathleen’s compassionate comment, “All kids need is a roof over their head and a safe bed to sleep in.”
This would lead to Kathleen taking the boys in almost instantly; they are considered family and are treated as such. Kathleen and Brian have helped the older boy get through high school and learn to drive, thanks to Brian’s driving instructing. He passed his test, got himself a part time job and and has saved up hard to buy himself his first car, with some help from Kathleen and Brian!
Every year they all go to Spain, re-affirming to the boys that they are indeed, family.

Kathleen’s story is a heartwarming reminder of the amazing individuals in our community.
Her daughter said “She completely deserves recognition.”
She is credited with always “Being about everyone else, never herself”, “A very caring person”, “All the staff think very highly of her”, “She’s chatty, with good manners and very helpful!”. She even decided to try ice skating with the foster children at the regal age of 70 (ish!..)
Senior staff nurse, Kirsty McHugh, said “She deserves this, she’s amazing. Some of the staff were brought to tears with the thought of her being recognised, because she won’t think she deserves it at all.”

With high praise comes high recognition and that is why we are thrilled to award Kathleen with the title of “Shine The Light – Miss March!”

Anyone wishing to nominate an April star can do so by emailing: [email protected]

SHINE THE LIGHT MR FEBRUARY 🕯️

February’s Shine The Light is Bill Elliot.

Bill Elliot, 64, of Houston was nominated by friend and fellow supporters club chairwoman Marie Cadenhead, for his outstanding voluntary contribution to Paisley Pirates. Bill was presented with his award in front of an audience of Paisley Pirates fans, club members, and players, as well as his his wife and son.

Paisley Pirates Ice Hockey club is a non-profit sporting organisation run by the Turley family on a voluntary basis.
Bill is credited with spending his own time producing match reports and promotional material for the club, often working late into the night, as well as having an active role in the Supporters Club as former Chairman and Secretary.

Bill has been volunteering for several years, from the Pirate’s home in the Lagoon Leisure Centre to their new home in Braehead Arena.

The Paisley Pirates were founded in 1946 and are one of the oldest hockey clubs in Scotland and the UK. As well as receiving prestigious awards such as Volunteer of the Year 2015 Renfrewshire Community Sports Awards, Team of the Year 2016 Renfrewshire Community Sports Awards, as well as recently receiving the Provost’s Community Award – Sporting Achievement. They are an asset to Paisley and Renfrewshire, something Bill is keen to see continue, as evident with his volunteering, fund raising and promotional work.

Marie, Paisley Pirates Supporters Club Chairwoman, credits Bill, “Bill does a lot of behind the scenes work. On a personal level, he has been a huge support to me, especially when I was asked to start Paisley Pirates Supporters Club”.

Bill’s interest in the sporting community extends beyond just Ice Hockey, as he was highly involved with the Paisley Lions. Paisley Lions were a motorcycle speedway team that participated in the British National League in 1975 and 1976, based at Love Street in Paisley.

Despite having to take a step back in recent years due to family commitments and personal illness, Bill is still a driving force in maintaining and promoting the club.
Jackie Turley, Paisley Pirates Club Secretary said “Bill is a stalwart of the club and at times has been a vital part of the Pirates’ operation. He has went above and beyond to ensure the club is successful both on and off the ice and there’s no task he won’t undertake. Bill constantly keeps us in the public eye."

It is because of people like Bill that organisations like the Paisley Pirates flourish, creating opportunity, growth and positive attention to Renfrewshire. It is those inspirational people in our community such as Bill Elliot that we should recognise and we are only too pleased to award Bill the title of Shine The Light – Mr February, as presented by Jim Furie, Managing Director.

Anyone wishing to support the Paisley Pirates can do so by contacting [email protected]
