I used to struggle with finding new clients.
All the things ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ'๐ฉ ๐ฌ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐ค, didnโt work for meโฆ
You know:
โข Networking
โข Social media
โข Lead generation
โข Sales calls
I had a mindset that I didnโt like or enjoy these activities. And the results backed up my beliefs.
All I wanted to do was to help people with the damn thing I was good at.
Then a weird thing happened to me, without realising it.
Iโd lost a large client and my back was against the wall. I needed to find new clients.
So I made the ๐๐๐๐๐จ๐๐ค๐ฃ, ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐ค ๐๐ก๐ก ๐๐ฃ.
I didnโt have a lot of money.
I committed to getting the skills to change my future.
โข I changed my results before I finished the course.
โข I quadrupled my investment in 12 weeks.

Brand new episode of the Fail Forward podcast out now!
Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/doBUA0MaDR4
Listen on the go: https://podfollow.com/failforward
โDuring the next 50 minutes Jamie and I set out to get to the core of why some networking activity works whilst others donโt. Jamie shares his journey from the corporate world to creating a business that supports his lifeโs priorities, and how heโs made the shift from anti-networker to the co-founder of a growing network.
In previous episodes Iโve often talked about the importance of building strong networks despite the fact that I walked away from my first ever networking event without even making it through the door.
Jamie openly admits that he resisted networking for a full four years before finally agreeing to give it a go and having his eyes opened to the potential. In his first year on the networking scene he made ยฃ18,000 in sales followed by ยฃ88,000 in his second year.
What made the difference? He learned how to โdo networkingโ properly.
And now heโs on a mission to help others leverage the power of their own networks; social, personal and professional, in order to successfully scale their businesses in a planned and purposeful way.
Jamie shares the secret to great networking, how to know when youโre not networking in the right place, and why business networking has to start with YOU not your job title.
Throughout this episode we explore how our mindset and attitude affects the success we all have in our business, and finishes with an amazing offer for listeners.
If you enjoyed listening to this episode and would like to know more about Jamie you can contact him here on LinkedIn or visit the Circle Networks website.

Running a business can be challenging.
We start off full of enthusiasm that overcomes the initial scary bits but then routine and frustration sets in.
Iโve been there. When I first started in business I jumped all in and it took me 4 months before I won my first client.
It always takes longer than we want. Even today.
No one told me that I needed to be great at all aspects of being a business owner ๐ณ
Admin, accounts, sales, marketing, web design, bookkeeping, credit control and so much more.
Consistency is the one area above all though that makes the difference. Doing it when we donโt feel like it.
Being accountable to ourselves.
Iโve flip flopped along in my business in the past, but once I realised that structure created more freedom. The results compounded.
What do you need to be more consistent with in your business?
Have you made progress and then thought itโs ok, Iโll miss this event becauseโฆ Iโll do it tomorrowโฆ no one will know ifโฆ
Would you employ someone with that attitude?
I get it. Iโve been there before.
This is why I have people who help me with accountability.
Why I have my own standards.
And why when I donโt feel like it I find the will power to follow my routine and stay consistent.
What can you do to work on your consistency?
When it came down to it, with the right attitude and training the firewalk was much easier than I anticipated.
Isnโt that the case with so many things, the thought of it (worry) is worse than the reality.
Doing the firewalk with my daughter Millie for Children's Air Ambulance on Friday helped raise almost ยฃ600 for this life saving cause.
If you can help a charity, with promotion, spreading the word, donationsโฆ anything at all, then now is a great time to reach out to them.
Have you mastered the fundamentals?
Listen to this weeks where I share what you must be doing to get the results that you want.
Click to listen https://anchor.fm/networkinglab/episodes/11---The-networking-FUNDAMENTALS-that-you-NEED-to-know-in-order-to-get-the-results-you-want-wJamie-Stewart-e1pce68
Rose tinted glasses. Do you own a pair?
I know I do. Over time memories fade. I look back on times and events and have forgotten that things werenโt as great as I remember them to be.
Iโve always been short of time. And then I remembered getting a huge chunk of it back.
What if I was to ask you to give me an hour of your time every week?
Not for zoom, not for phone calls. Just give me an hour and in return youโll get nothing back.
In actual face you might feel a bit more stressed.
Youโll be slightly out of pocket financially.
You might even give me two hours. Every single week.
WHAT???? ๐ณ
What for?
Travel time. Walking to and from your car. And parking. Travelling to and from networking events.
When I add up how much time I used to give awayโฆ waste, I cringe ๐ก
But that is now client time ๐ฐ
I knew I had to move with the times.
I love working from home. I still meet up with people but I donโt HAVE to do it every week, I do it on my terms.
Thanks to online networking I build relationships and win clients every week. But I save so much time now.
And as Iโm online my potential audience is MUCH biggerโฆ itโs the whole UK, when before it was whoever lived within an hours travel.
I save so much time with potential clients too. In the past I wouldโve had at least 1-2hours travel to and from prospect meetings. Thatโs gone too.
So my question for you is. Would you like to work less and earn more. Or have less time for you and clients and earn less?
Iโm so used to interviewing guest rather than being interviewed but I loved being โinterviewedโ by Jay Allen for his latest podcast episode.
I had to listen again this morning to fully remember all that we talked about.
I open up on my background, key milestones in my career and share some tips and I do have a rant on my biggest bugbear.
