Síoda Lingerie Bespoke
I help brides who struggle to invisibly support their bodies, whatever their size, so they can confidently wear the dress of their dreams.
Síoda lingerie, is pronounced 'she da' and means Silk in Irish. The label has evolved from it's original place in creating handmade silk lingerie to now specialising in invisible underwear product advice and bespoke service, locally and globally. Mary Murphy is the Lingerie Engineer behind the label with a background in Aeronautical Engineering, Product Design and Fashion. Síoda lingerie is based in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.
I’m never good at sharing these little things but it’s been a particularly busy time recently and I’m a bit on the tired side but Nuala’s card landing on my door mat this morning just made me feel so happy tired 💓
Well wow, this has been a full on January like no other ever and it's still got another week in it too!
I am really sorry to have to announce the closure of the bespoke order book for the entire year now. If you haven't been in contact and had a chat or scheduled one in to see if you need my help I am just so so sorry. There is the possibility of going on the waiting list and depending on how the work flow materialises, I could manage some further brides in but I just can't guarantee anything at this stage.
Those of you lovely fabulous women already in the system, hang tight. I have a follow-up email going out individually so I can try to capture in a more illustrative way (channeling my inner data analyst here) and see where my gaps are now to plan for all the other things that are very important to me - family, friends and Type 1 Diabetes!
On a further data analyst note, there is work going on in the background to launch a Lingerie Advice Tool that will really quickly and easily direct you to what you should buy to try and how you should use them so you can be invisibly supported and confident - when you don't need anything bespoke made.
Last of the virtual calls now done for 2021 🙌
Now to finish the last of the December work and get stuck into lovely Christmas preparations - it's been some year for one year!
This one is for anyone who has ordered their dress and feels like they've maybe made a mistake.
Great News!
Most of you lovely brides can be directed to super-duper underwear solutions that are ready to wear (RTW). But you may find that your dress has certain style elements that leave your confidence levels a bit on the wobbly side or these just don't work how you wished they would when you've tried them.
What can cause issues that only bespoke can support invisibly:
😓 You can see even a 'seamless knicker line ➡️ Leotard bodysuits are only invisible on the knicker line (seamless or not) on a certain body length AND where your bum isn't peachy!
😓Every kind of underwear type shows across your tummy ➡️ Dresses without waist seams are always trickier - wearing a belt helps somewhat here, some dresses with seams or midsections can work but only if they fall on the natural waistline.
😓The dress just highlights every wibble and wobble of your body ➡️ The fabric of the gown and its drape on your curves can be troublesome.
😓 The side cutaways make wearing anything RTW possible ➡️ Have you cut away details on the side seams?
😓 You just can't were nothing on your bust ➡️ Maybe your bust is small or full and you need to wear a bra to confident as YOU?
😓 Disaster city! All you see is your p***c bone or belly button as soon as you look at any photos. For some, it's no issue, and for others, it can be huge ➡️ These are a minefield. It just all depends on how your tummy sits and how round the front of your thighs are here.
😓 The fitted style shows everything ➡️ It's like the only option you have is to wear nothing - but if you wear nothing, you'll see every wee wibble and wobble.
😓 A plunge neckline ➡️ This begins to really limit solutions.
😓 And then there's the low back that just reduces all the options down to a tiny few that won't work for everyone ➡️ If you need a supportive backless bra (you can test this if you can hold a pencil under your breasts!) - otherwise, the answer is YES!
If you have' an inkling of worry, schedule a quick call (Link in bio). I can at least point you to the best Ready To Wear options for your needs.
VIRTUAL PERSONAL BRIDAL LINGERIE CONSULTATIONS
Knowing what will invisibly support your body is not always straightforward for a wedding gown. This is one of the few items of clothing you will wear that is tailored to fit your body AND it can be unforgiving. MOST don't need anything bespoke, but knowing what to look out for and what best to buy can save you lots of money and stress in the long run.

What we tolerate as ‘invisible support’ in other dresses is not the same for our wedding day.
Some dresses just need some extra help. Maybe it's just your bust, or just your body or sometimes it's both.
A plunge neckline can be one of the most trickiest to support invisibly for a tiny OR a fuller bust AND when you need a little help to smooth your silhouette too - BUT it's not impossible!
Things that make a style like this tricky are:
1) Plunge neckline
2) Deep low back
3) Sheer to the side seams
Rule of thumb…
The simpler the gown the harder it is to find invisible underwear!

TRICKIEST DRESS OF 2021
Some dresses are just trickier than others to support your body under!
❗️Dress fabric that shows the outline of commercial seamless underwear on most bodies.
❗️Large cut away sides that begin in the front.
❗️Side cutaway right at the underwire.
❗️Long slit in the skirt so needs to be a short short.
❗️Teeny bra band, and a beautiful full bust (32E/30F).
❗️Limited space for a moulded cup too.
This one was all about supporting a full bust but with a difficult midriff, a tight space envelope and minimal Anchorage points making it it all more complicated.
But many many hours of sewing in my head first got this one out. It’s measure 1 million times, cut once on this particular type.
This is what Selene said:
“I never expected to get that amount of support with such an open back. Never thought I could wear something like this so it's truly amazing.”
This just made my whole year reading.

I was going to do this next month but I need to do this now too going by the messages sitting here this morning.
Email me to [email protected] and tell me your wedding date. I’ll organise a quick call with you on zoom individually to see what you need and I’ll then get back to everyone very quickly afterwards. It all just depends on whether I know your trickiness already or need to allow time to work it out and of course where abouts you are in the world!

What do you wear when you can’t seem to wear anything?
My stunning bride totally rocked this dress recently on her wedding day. This woman has curves to die for and took this dress to a whole other level than you see here on this lovely model.
Just me popping out to say to anyone feeling stuck that I can help one or two more brides at the most now for weddings up to the New Year.
For those with 2022 weddings, I'll be rearranging the diary in December and will let you all know.
11 years last Friday!
I know I'm not on social much at the minute and this is on purpose to just keep on top of what I need to do. BUT this is a special birthday for me and though I couldn't prioritise putting this album together on Friday, I can't let it pass. It's not exhaustive and I know I'll find other things to add in here as I go... and there are my family and best friends who's photos I'm not putting in this album but they're in my private one - those lonely days that there are no photos of are being remembered and never forgotten.
It's fun to see these ones gathered together and remembered 💓
Thank you to everyone along the way...
I have two favorite numbers, and this is one of them!
Celebrating 11 years last Friday!
I've tonnes more memories I need to add in here that are important to get me to today... but like everything about me... it's a work in progress 🤣

Being able to work online with global clients isn't just something that I knew naturally and with a tiny time opportunity to make it all work was another huge hurdle...
This is Yasmin and she has been helping me for 7 years and counting...
I haven't seen any other business mentor that has the skills to blow away my kind of sandy additions and complications to see what is important, who delivers content that you actually apply to your business, and all in a way that is so clear and full of integrity. Yasmin's superpower is her listening skills!
I am so much more because of Yasmin Vorajee.

This is Gillian and I. She helped me enormously as my VA to whip me into shape and make behind the scenes here something I could cope with again. 💓
☘️ Hope you all Shakin' your shamrocks wherever you are and getting out in some green today ☘️
Happy St Patrick's Day!
SO loved chatting to my favourite person in the bridal industry. She knows so much about the bits that are important to help her brides find the right dress for them and I loved this so much that I can’t wait to have my own podcast airing!
Go check out the interview... and sign up to the newsletter on my website # # #
Here’s to all women on
Mind your chesticle area out there and if you’re struggling to feel invisibly supported, you know where I am 😘
Going out of this week on a huge high being nominated by the M4AI community for an Inspiring Women Award. It’s an amazing honour to be among this group of women in M4AI and these wonderful women on this nominated list.
Feeling very very appreciated.
Things happened last year that nobody could even see coming. Masks 4 All Ireland became bigger than masks for care workers at a time when there wasn’t enough - for myself and lots of others - it wasn't just about making masks.
I gave a bit, but gained in buckets full...
As crazy as it sounds, but I am closing the 2022 bespoke order book for enquiries temporarily until Sept 1st 2021. If you've already booked in for 2022, you're all good - there are places available but the way things are, I'm just focusing on 2021 for now.
I'll have an email going out to all brides on my wee system next week just to take stock of where you are so I can plan to be the support you need me to be when you need me.

♥️ Happy Valentines Day ♥️
Biggest love to Shauna Fay today... most beautiful thing I’ve seen on Instagram and Facebook!
Lots of fun here practicing using my podcast mic this week.
There’s a big reason why underwear like this is known as foundations...
It sure takes more than the right underwear for you to feel confident being the centre of attention on such a personally important day so I’m creating this little space to share what I know as well as interviewing other heart led suppliers in the bridal industry to give you an insight into the elements they work on with you that helps YOU sparkle!
The UnBRIDALed Confidence podcast is on it’s way 💓
I don’t know about you but I couldn’t look up let alone forward in 2020.
What I Learned:
The way I always work fits perfectly into this (hopefully) temporary world but it’s taught me that working like this allows me to help much more.
Through hours of private conversation this year, no matter where in the world you were, I heard a similar thread... Happiness with how we look begins when we are happy with how we think others see us.
(I now have a worksheet I take you through to think about a friend/sister and how you see them on their wedding day. The unsurprising thing is that it never comes out about the detail. It’s always about how genuinely comfortable and happy she looked and how much you could see her enjoy the day.)
I learned that I really love helping brides like you who don’t feel confident and worry. Mostly by listening and then explaining how you can invisibly support your body for your own needs. Mostly this is showing you what to buy and how to wear it to work best on your body, under your dress, for the whole day.
We’re all so individual you see and what works for one, doesn’t necessarily work for another - even with a similar body shape/size. The only difference is confidence.
Few need bespoke underwear but for those that do, it is the difference between shining on a day they really want to as opposed to all the other feelings that seep out when you don’t trust something you’re not used to and are just not comfortable; which can effect how you see and judge yourself.
This year now feels like a new start. I’m planning podcast episodes to record as I type to launch this spring.
It’s called “UnBRIDALed Confidence”
The first season is about the work I do here and how it can help you improve your own self confidence. Then I’m planning to record carefully chosen conversations with people in the bridal industry who also help you to naturally feel more confident with yourself.
Happy New Year wee bird, I hope it’s a kind one .
Let me know what you think about the podcast coming!
Mary ❤️
