The Big Beds Clean Up is back!
We have got 4 litter picks planned as part of the British Spring Clean this year and we will be partnering up with Flitwick Town Council. The dates are:
Sun 30th May 12-2
Weds 2nd June 12-2
Sun 6th June 12-2
Sun 13th June 12-2
The starting location will be confirmed closer to the time, but will all be in Flitwick.
Help us on our mission to keep our towns clean by joining us for one (or more!) of our litter picks. We all have a part to play in ensuring our streets are kept clean and safe, and a litter pick is a great opportunity to give something back to your community.
All equipment will be provided and children and dogs are welcome! If you have any questions, please message us. You can also let us know you will be coming by clicking 'attending' in the events section of the page.

Yesterday we were given the opportunity to give a talk at a new climate change group starting up in Ampthill. We spoke about how The Big Beds Clean Up has positively impacted the environment of our community.
We watch the news about how our way of life is impacting our planet and we feel powerless. But we can do something about it. Change starts with ourselves. Pick up a litter picker, adopt a plant-based diet, walk to work, go plastic free. Every decision you make will have a positive impact on our planet. We no longer have to bury our heads in the sand and wait for our government to take action. We can do something about it. Right now. Together.
😎CALLING ALL ARTISTS 😎
We are looking for a creative person to help us with our re-branding. We are looking for someone to help design a logo, as well as choose a consistent colour scheme and theme, which fits in with out aims and values.
If anyone is interested, or knows of anyone who might be, please send us a message, or call George on 07383 993790.
Thanks.

Today we had over 40 volunteers who helped to collect a record of 34 bags of rubbish in Flitwick. Thank you to everyone today who took part and helped us to keep Flitwick a tidy and safe place to live. If you’d like to find out more about volunteering in any way, please get in touch!
Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting with Steven Dixon, a councillor for Central Beds. Steven is leading on the 2020 climate emergency plan, to ensure a net-zero Central Beds by 2030.
We are delighted to announce we will be working with Steven to discuss moving forward, help implement these plans and helping to ensure this target is met.
In July 2019, the council unanimously voted that climate change will be a priority for the council and that this plan was to be implemented.
You can find information on how to reduce your own carbon footprint below, and ensure a greener, brighter future for us all. 🌲

Let us know!
We can provide you with litter grabbers, hoops and bags.
You don’t just need to come along to one of our monthly clean ups to make a difference!
🌳
World Cleanup Day is this Saturday 21 September! Are you taking part? 🚮💚🌍
Massive thank you to everybody who turned up to this weeks clean up! Where would you like us to visit next?🌳
Top tips for recycling plastic bottles!
♻️ Replace lids and tops. If they stay on the container they will get recycled.
♻️ Squash bottles to save space.
♻️ Empty and rinse bottles. Leftover foods or liquids can contaminate other recyclables and if bottles contain liquid they may not be recycled as deemed too heavy by the automated sorting process. Liquid can also damage the machinery.
♻️ Leave on labels - these will be removed in the process.

Don't forget to join us for our second litter pick next week! We are also proud to announce that we will be partnering with Plastic Patrol, an organisation who work to eliminate all rubbish. You can find more about the work they do on their website at www.plasticpatrol.co.uk
We hope to see you there!
We are committed to ending singe-use plastics. Here are a couple ways ways you can help:
1. Use your personal platforms to talk about the campaign. Share the message on your social media, websites and blogs.
2. Sign the petition for a surcharge on single-use coffee cups. Only 4% of cups sold are actually recycled. A surcharge of 25p was introduced for hot drinks sold in the Houses of Parliament and resulted in a massive 74% drop in single use cups.
Together we will save our environment. 🌲

Calling all activists!
Today we walk the streets of Flitwick for our first ever litter pick. Please come and join us on this beautiful morning at 12 outside Flitwick Fisheries to help take care of Bedfordshire. 🌱
Since the government introduced a charge for plastic bags, usage has fallen by over 85%. Urge the government to do the same for single-use cups.
Let’s end the use of unnecessary waste! 🌱
