The Christian School (Takeley)
A sunny end to a week which has included a bake sale and our juniors’ ‘Stunning Start’ to their project! Well done to our Year 11 pupils who have now completed their language speaking exam and their Art exam. Link to our newsletter in bio.

A small regular donation to our school makes a difference and Gift Aid is collected directly through our PayPal Giving Account. Donations help us support families with their fees, maintain the buildings and provide a rich educational experience for all.
We felt very proud of our delegation to the Bishop’s Stortford Pupil Voice Network, which gave a presentation about our contribution to the community - and won the trophy! Well done!
Our annual musical is next week and tickets are for sale via Eventbrite. We’d love to welcome friends old and new. Link in events.
See our newsletter for information about our 10x challenge and preparation for our annual musical. We have been busy rehearsing our Aladdin Performances, during the week of the 25th March. You can book tickets via Eventbrite - search for The Christian School, Takeley. Link in bio.
This is a lovely word for a pupil to suggest to describe our school, but it’s all the more meaningful when you know they’ve experienced the alternative! We have small class sizes where the needs of each individual are considered, and responded to. We value their ’uniqueness’ and we are glad they feel the same way about ours. Our open day is on Thursday 14th March (2-6pm) - we would love to meet you.
We all enjoyed World Book Day on Thursday, with Gangster Grannies, Harry Potters and even a Bart Simpson!
Years 7, 8 and 9 showed their entrepreneurial skills with the 10X Challenge - find out more in our newsletter. Link in bio.
Welcome back to a new half term, and happy St David’s Day! Apparently, according to the Met Office records, February was the wettest on record! We hope you stayed dry during the half term break. The children have been busy this week with a workshop, trips and their full timetables. Link to newsletters in bio.
There are signs that spring is on its way and we are looking forward to our half term break. We shared some fabulous pancakes, made by Carina on Shrove
Tuesday, and ended the half term with an interactive assembly on Zacchaeus from Jonathan. Link to newsletter in bio.
Have a peaceful and restful half term!
We asked our pupils to describe the school in one word. The first is honesty. Honesty is an attribute we all value and it’s good to know our pupils believe that this is what we offer to them in our school. It’s a word associated with integrity, reliability and trust, and one we are pleased that they included. To be continued…
It’s been another busy week.
Year 7, 8 and 10 had a very enjoyable visit to Cambridge University Botanical Gardens. They fully appreciated the warm greenhouses and avoiding the heavy rain!
Jonathan’s interesting follow-on talk on Thursday evening looked at how dyslexia can lead to mental health issues, and how this can be supported. We ended Mental Health Week with a breakfast this morning.
Have an enjoyable and restful weekend, everyone, and enjoy Shrove Tuesday on the 13th! Link in bio!
We can feel spring is on its way and with
that the children and teachers have had a
spring in their step this week. Seniors
enjoyed a trip to Colchester Gallery, whilst
Key Stage 2 learnt about the solar system.
Years 7 & 8 had magnetic fun in science.
Please note our two open afternoons
coming up in February and March, please
spread the word. We hope that you have a
peaceful and productive week. Link in bio.
We survived the storms, and we hope there have not been too many broken fences or fallen trees for you to deal with. This week has been about enjoying life’s small pleasures amid knuckling down and getting on with our work. More information in this week’s newsletter - link in bio.
Please share details of our open events with anyone you think might be interested.
We have had a busy week. Junior pupils had a great time with Jonathan finding out about The Plague and the Great Fire of London. The seniors have been carrying out several experiments in science this week and the whole school also enjoyed hot chocolates at lunchtime on Thursday, to raise funds for the school leavers assembly in July. We have battled through the cold weather this week and would like to thank parents who loaned us heaters to help us get through this cold snap.

It has been a cold week but a very industrious one. Our Year 10s and 11s have worked hard on their mock GCSEs this week. We have been impressed by their attitudes.
Our trip to the Lion King musical in London is next Thursday so that will give them something to look forward to.

We have had a very busy first term! We enjoyed visits from Uttlesford Food Bank and the wonderful Meninadanca Team from Brazil, as well as pupils enjoying some fascinating school trips. We had a good turn out at our open evening last night and hope that we soon see new families join the school. We now break for half term and would like to wish you all a restful two weeks off and look forward to everyone returning on Monday 6th November.

We were blessed to have the Meninadanca Girls and their coordinator Keyla come to visit our school on Monday. Keyla described how she and her team are bringing hope to young lives traumatised by a local culture of abuse and exploitation.
We also had some fantastic trips for Yr 10 and 11 and Juniors. Juniors will report more on their trip next week.
