Happy 7th Birthday Scotland shop Edinburgh

🎉 Happy 7th Birthday to our Edinburgh Shop! 🎉

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is about to begin and it takes us back to 7 years ago when we were frantically finishing off the shop re-fit ready for our grand opening on 1st August.

Our building on Queensferry Street is B listed which means it has some beautiful, original, heritage features which we restored during the renovations. Don't forget to look up and see the stunning cornice which we discovered hidden behind a false ceiling and a lot of thick black paint.

We are open from 9am during the Festival so pop in and see us or make an appointment for a Clan or Measuring Experience!

I have been making keyrings over the past couple of days. I make them with robust metal fixings as it used to always annoy me how poor these could be on keyrings I had in the past. We just forget how important our keys are in our lives until we loose them. They really do unlock our worlds and keep us safe so they do deserve a lovely keyring.
The fabrics are from little bits of my left over fabric and the Leather is scrap bits from an amazing local company you should look up.
Which makes them very sustainable too.
They havent hit my website yet but just message me if you have your eye on one or even two!

Its Lavender time of year and both the bees and I are loving their blooms and fragrance.
If you want to keep that lovelyness going all year then how about a lavender pouch/purse. These are all made with small scrap bits of fabric and are filled with have British made zips and are lined in British woven fabrics.
They are handmade in the Scottish Borders and cost £24 which includes postage in the uk.

I was going to tell you the story of the penguins. Well in Bluff Cove on the Falklands you can visit these amazing animals on the beach where they live and this is where the wool in the tweed I am working in originates. Which is why I have been using these fab labels. They are very cute. I have also been making rockhopper pengiuns in kilts and Gentoo penguins in tutus. They will all be heading off to Bluff Cove very soon.
I love this story and am delighted to be able to be a small part of it.

A little to the story. The wool comes from a farm in on the Falkland islands. It is woven into beautiful tweed in the Scottish Borders and I then make it into some of my beautiful products in this case Lavender filled purses. Using british made zips and fabric to line them. They will then head back to Bluff Cove where you can buy them. The penguin labels I will tell you their story next time.

15/07/2024

I have been working on a wholesale commission today. These little Lavender filled purses are part of a larger order for Bluff Cove in the Falkland Islands. They are made in their new Sunset Tweed. It is a lovely story which I will continue to tell over a few posts.

I have been a little quite recently. Had a little break from sewing to build a kitchen. There are no end to my talents!
There was a couple of glimpses of the sun. So on a flat sea the kayak came out and on a big wave day it was body boarding. Two of my favourite things.
Risked taking my phone out on the Kayak to take a picture of Gardenstown. A beatiful village on the Moray Firth in the North East of Scotland.
Seems like a life time ago now I am back home with a a stinking cold, and building lego.
Back to my studio tomorrow.

Sometimes it can be really difficult to get into shows to sell your products and a few rejections this year can make you doubt yourself and your product. However 5 minutes after another 5 star review hit my inbox and all was well with the world. These shows just dont know what they are missing. Your reviews mean a lot.

Do you have an occasion or event coming up this summer and need a bag. You might want to consider a clutch bag either a flat one or a shaped one. If you really dont have much to carry then you could use a large purse with extra pockets for a phone and makeup. You might prefer a handbag with a little comfortable handle.
Great styles for evening events, weddings, garden parties.

I dont like waste not even the little bits as the fabrics I use are just too fabulous.
