Her priorities for Hillrise are as follows:
- To be an active presence in the community, listening to residents concerns.
- Taking action on crime and antisocial behaviour, to make Hillrise a safer place to live.

Islington's Labour-run Council tops inner London for healthy streets 4th time running! 🏆
Our aim: fairer, safer, greener streets for all, regardless of background or age. 🌳🚶♂️
Guess who was ranked as the top London borough for healthy streets?!🎊
For an amazing fourth year in a row, Islington was recognised as the best-performing inner-London borough for efforts to create greener, healthier streets, through improvements like:
☑️ Introducing seven low-traffic neighbourhoods
☑️ Transforming streets outside 37 local schools
☑️ Creating a network of cycleways
☑️ Improving pavements, so that all can use them
We’ve already seen the huge benefits of these projects, with air quality improving and streets becoming more pleasant for all. Check the link in the comments for more information!
🔄🌳 Tackling the climate emergency can only happen by working across the whole community, which is why our Labour-run Council are supporting local businesses to become more environmentally sustainable.
That is why Islington Council today have announced grants to support local businesses with going greener, by helping them become more circular, increasing their economic resilience, building green skillsets, and helping Islington become a net zero carbon borough by 2030.

On the issue of RAAC we can assure parents, staff and pupils that schools will be open for the start of term next week, as scheduled.
📢 “At this time, the government has not notified us of any schools that need to be closed or partially closed, and we expect all schools to open next week.
“The safety of pupils and staff in Islington's schools is of paramount importance.
“The issues with RAAC in buildings have been known about nationally for some time and we have been supporting and working closely with all schools and nursery schools in the borough to identify whether RAAC may be present in any of their buildings.
“We will continue to closely monitor our own education estate, and work with all other education providers in the borough, to ensure young people and staff in all settings are safe.”
Too many private renters in Islington suffer from poor quality homes.
Islington's Labour-run Council is changing that, with a new scheme in Tollington, Hillrise and Finsbury park wards, designed to make landlords meet standards or face prosecution.
But want all renters in Islington to benefit from safe, good quality homes. Sadly, the Tory Government won't let us.

Our efforts as a Labour-led Council to create a fairer, safer, greener borough have been recognised once again, on the Healthy Streets Scorecard, which scored Islington as the best-performing inner London Borough.
Our improvements so far have already been successful but we want to go further:

🏫 Expanding the successful school streets scheme to secondary schools
♿ Making every pavement accessible
🚲 Creating new cycle routes across the borough

Islington is top inner-London borough for healthy streets – again! The council’s efforts to create greener, healthier, more welcoming streets for its residents have again been recognised, with Islington ranking as the best-performing inner-London borough in a city-wide report for the third successive year.
The statistics from May's local elections have shown that the new Voter ID Laws stopped 14,000 from voting and potentially prevented marginalised communities from voting. We oppose these changes and call on the Government to reconsider.
