Team Go4B Philippines went to Marcela Farms Bohol giving them the better solution for their drag chains.
The Touchswitch is an electro-mechanical limit switch with no moving parts, which detects tracking and misalignment problems on bucket elevators and conveyors. When a belt misaligns or a pulley moves over and contacts the sensor, the built in solid-state electronic circuitry detects the lateral force of the belt or pulley and activates a voltage free solid state relay output. This output signal is used to immediately alarm and ultimately shutdown the machine.
The face of the sensor is made from hardened and annealed stainless steel, not soft brass or aluminium, so wear life is longer when a belt contacts it. The Touchswitch is not affected by dust or material build up and will still work when completely covered by material. An external test wheel allows for quick and simple sensor/system testing. The sensors are usually installed in pairs on opposite sides of the machine. The sensors can be connected directly to a PLC input, or for greater safety, to a central independent monitoring system, such as Watchdog Super Elite, IE-Node or the T500 Hotbus system.

Team Go4B Philippines went to Hi-Grade Feeds Corporation Plant.
The SpeedMaster™ with Pulse Pilot provides independent, real time, and complete verification of an entire speed monitoring system to ensure that alarms and shutdowns are working as expected.
The SpeedMaster operates in two modes. Input mode is used to measure the pulse rate at normal speed. Output mode will allow the user to input pulses to the sensor for testing purposes. Testing can be done while the sensor is installed on the machine shaft.
The Pulse Pilot fits between the gap between the sensor and the target. The Pulse Pilot will have no effect on the operation of the speed switch until it is connected to the SpeedMaster™ and set to “output” mode.

4B Group strengthens its position in Europe with new French office & warehouse
VILLERS BRETONNEUX, FRANCE – 4B France, subsidiary of the 4B Group, a worldwide manufacturer of components
for bucket elevators and conveyors and electronic monitoring equipment, has just celebrated the inauguration of its
new facilities, a brand-new purpose-built office and warehouse complex, situated just 6km from the company’s old
premises.
The new facilities and warehouse complex bring a lot of opportunities for 4B, as well as strengthening the group’s
position in Europe after Brexit. “Due to Brexit, we have made this major investment in France to build a new facility
to increase 4B France's activities and better support our customers in France and Europe”, explains the group’s
chairman, Nicholas Braime. “90% of the 4B Group's sales are made through global exports and the European market
remains very important.”
The new facility has been designed with the latest warehouse technology and high-level racking. The additional
space and modern stock management system will significantly increase the company’s ability to fulfil more customer
orders than ever before, reduce delivery times and improve the efficiency of order processing.
4B France, originally known as Setem, has a 30 year history within the 4B Braime Group of companies. The
partnership started with a collaboration on the Starco elevator bucket, a design developed and patented by Jean
Tripoteau, an ingenious technician at Setem, and subsequently manufactured on an industrial scale at the 4B
Group’s headquarters in Leeds (UK). The Starco design of elevator bucket and the related technology first developed
by SETEM was the first to fully exploit the advantages of centrifugal discharge in Bucket elevators when handling
granular agricultural products such a cereals, allowing smoother handling of the product, with less dust, while
dramatically increasing the capacity of the elevator; and it would change the way modern bucket elevators were
built. Innovation remains key to the company’s success and 4B’s engineers continue to lead the way in the design of
components for bulk material handling.

CASE STUDY
REDUCTION OF ELEVATOR DOWNTIME & MAINTENANCE
4B helped a peanut processing facility to overcome problems with product build-up in elevator buckets, reduced elevator capacity and clogged up elevator boots. This was achieved by replacing the existing buckets with vented 4B CC-S Urethane buckets and installing a self-cleaning wing-style pulley.

Video shows where the explosion risks lie in a bucket elevator and what can be done to mitigate these risks. Neither steel nor plastic elevator buckets themselves cause dust explosions. For an explosion to happen on a bucket elevator, it needs a constant heat source, such as heat generated by the belt slipping on the head pulley, heat generated by the belt rubbing against the elevator casing, heat generated by a misaligned pulley or heat generated by a bearing failure. To protect a bucket elevator from dust explosions, it is vital to fit hazard monitoring equipment to monitor all these hazards: belt and pulley misalignment monitors, bearing temperature sensors, (under)speed switches... 4B offers a large range of ATEX, CSA & IECEx approved monitoring equipment, everything from a replacement sensor to a fully integrated hazard monitoring system which can be operated either as a stand-alone system or connected to a PLC.
