We have a winner!

Congratulations to Leyana who is the winner of our turkey competition. 😊

We used a randomiser in the competition tool and Leyana's name was pulled out of the hat from the 281 people who entered the competition.

Leyana is a regular customer, who had already placed an order; so when I spoke to her last night to tell her that she had won - she was absolutely thrilled. She said she had never won anything before. As she had already placed an order with us, will be receiving a full refund.

Well done Leyana. Happy Christmas.

Did you know that we take our customer service very seriously? We do our absolute utmost to make sure we deliver every one of our Christmas Turkeys.

So much so that in 2018, I hand delivered a turkey to one of our customers in Monaco! Yes folks, you read that right. I crossed to France via the Eurotunnel and drove to Monaco to deliver a turkey to one of our regular customers. Its fair to say that Frances was rather shocked! We did enjoy a rather lovely bottle of wine at the 'Cafe de Paris', before setting off for home.

Now that is how you take customer service seriously.

Just in case you were wondering - yes we are doing our wonderful Norfolk Black Turkeys this year. We're in the process of updating the website.

We'll let you know as soon as its ready.

In the beginning......Christmas Turkeys

This story is closely linked in with us originally setting up our smallholding - Frogs Abbey. (You can find us on Facebook here - https://www.facebook.com/FrogsAbbey/).

Will and I used to live in Milton Keynes, in a new build housing estate. We wanted to know were our food came from - so we started with 2 chickens in the back garden. The ‘urge’ grew stronger and we decided we wanted to have a go for real - so we rented a property with 4 acres just outside Ely, Cambridgeshire and set up a smallholding. The rest of that story I’ll save for the Frogs Abbey page.

But one evening, we were at the pub with my Dad who was down helping with chores (aren’t Dad’s great!) and we had a conversation around why you can get chicken eggs in the supermarket but not other eggs - like turkeys for example. Several hours of Googling later we had our answer.

Turkeys do not lay eggs all year round, and the farmer gets much more value from turning that egg into a turkey. There are other reasons a little more.....ahem, how can I put it, delicately to with the procreation process - which when I tell people they generally don’t believe me.
