Wigan Arts Festival

It's been a month since Wigan Arts Festival 2021 came to a close.

It was a jam packed fortnight and we weren't able to capture everything, but, here's a look at some of the wonderful events that took place.

Thank you to The Old Courts , Wigan STEAM , Leigh Film Society , Wigan Council, WigLe Dance CIC , The Turnpike , Leigh Spinners Mill Community for joining forces to programme this year's festival as well as a big thank you to the wonderful facilitators who brought their events to our borough! 🎉

Wigan Young Musician Of The Year: Finalist Showcase!

Since 2012, Wigan Council Music Service has presented an annual solo recital competition to feature the talents of the boroughs young musicians. The grand final is held in July each year and six musicians compete in three categories (entry, intermediate and advanced) in the hope of winning one of the coveted prizes! The concert is open to all instruments including brass, woodwind, strings, piano and voice. This concert will feature finalists from the 2020 and 2021 events.

Don’t miss the opportunity to hear some of the boroughs most talented young instrumentalists and singers live in concert.

Tickets: Free admission.

No booking necessary.

The Royal Exchange Mobile Theatre, THE DEN, opens at Spinners Mill this weekend. There are lots of events to choose from including:

📔 The Story Den, Storytelling sessions suitable for under 10s from Tupele Dorgu, Conor Glean and Gabriel Clark. Get comfortable and lose yourself in an adventure as they share their favourite stories and captivating tales.

👻The Digital Ghost Hunt: Spinners Mill has many stories to tell of people who have worked there since it opened in 1912. For over 100 years, people have reported mysterious supernatural sightings.
This summer we’re looking for a team of young people to help us solve the mystery of these ghostly happenings.
