Hi sweeties! Oooooh it's a late one today because I have had to update a lot of things with the new soap formula changes, swaps and faffing about. So much work goes into one little product, website updates, notifications to the regulators, new photos, new labels and a bit of maths. Anyways...

Hi sweeties! How are you spending Sunday? Today on my list of to do is a batch of Mitzi Conditioner Bars and continuing with Liquid Soap making.

Before all that I managed to capture and take a little pigeon with a poorly eye to Pixies Pixie’s Wildlife Rescue and pick up cat food from the shops for baby seagulls and Mamma on my roof. Mamma's partner, Claude has not been around for over a week and I'm so worried. I have been supporting Mamma because her chicks are not yet big enough to be left ungarded. I cook pasta for them too. We sadly lost a chick to a gull attack and entaglement early last week. The fire rescue service were amazing with their help. Being involved in wildlife rescue can be very difficult because we find ourselves in the position to have to help them cross the Bridge, with the chick his/her wing was completely shattered and I was advised by vets that he/she had to be PTS. I had chick with me and when they look in to your eyes it just stops time. 😢 It was a difficult week because one of my little budgies passed away too. She was old but very special, my little Daisy. So fly free little sweeties! We'll meet again.

Hya sweeties! I wish you all a lovely weekend! Our Bathroom Buddies have been fluttering out of the savonnerie quite a lot lately after snuggling in their nests for a while! I designed these cute little mini gift sets with a furoshiki style cotton flannel bird shape and a hand sewn bamboo reuseable face pad. Inside is a bathbomb with essential oils and moisturising shea butter! Cute and eco friendly, just as Little Blue Hen is! Only a fiver each!

Hello sweeties! How's your week going? I'm catching up with soap bar making finally! First up are Relax Zing and Innoscent soap bars, they are just curing now and will be the last of the soap bars to be made with cocoa butter. Don't worry, the new formulated batches will just be as good as these ones. Creamy, fluffy lather, gentle and non drying, full of wonderful plant and fruit oils and butters.

I'd like to give another shout out to another lovely little business in Fleetwood, There's no place like home run by the sweetest lady, Jenna. I dropped off her prizes from the charity raffle she won 3rd prize for. We had a really long chat, it was lovely! Jenna also works as a carer for elderly people and brought a little budgie to me when one of her friends she looked after sadly passed away. Today with our chats we realised how small the world is, especially in Fleetwood, we original "Cod Heads" are a tight knit community!

Thank you so much to a genuinely lovely lady, Jennifer, who bought some of my goodies! I was doing a delivery run in the town I grew up in, Fleetwood. She runs a pet food bank at what used to be my old nursery, helping the community who are struggling with money to feed their pets. What a beautiful thing to do! Little Blue Hen Savonnerie stopped by our little pet food bank, Happy Pets Food Bank this afternoon, to drop of my order. It smells so good!! She hand makes all these stunning soaps and lots of other products as well. We love supporting and spreading the word about other eco conscious small businesses and it was lovely to be able to show her the work we do outside of Happy Kitty Blankets. 😊

Hello sweeties! Work today has been interrupted by this sweet little ball of fluff! 🤦🏼‍♀️ She/he is ok, no signs of injury and both parents are keeping an eye out. Yes, Claude who you saw in my conservatory is the dad! Both Mamma and baby had lunch at my back doorstep. She was very at ease with me being there. 🥰 Please remember that seagulls do defend their chicks aggressively by nature. Unless injured, abandoned or in impending danger chicks can be left alone. Even Claude dive bombed me at first and vomited on my freshly cleaned hair! 🤦🏼‍♀️ But he is all good now, after all it's just nature! I'm all re-shampooed with a South Pacific shampoo bar! I will buy some cat food and decent fish for them, I'm vegan, yes, but I'd like to think a few good meals will help little one grow strong quickly. 🙏🏼🪽💕

What is this?! It's cubes of frozen organic rooibos tea! What for? Sunshine Soap Bars! This is part of the process of making this gorgeous soap. I add olive, coconut and brassica oils and a lovely blend of essential oils with palmarosa, patchouli and sweet orange. Oh i haven't finished... I add a good measure of golden calendula flower petals!

Hello sweeties! Meet Claude my resident seagull! This cheeky chappy looks like he wants to help with production, or is he after treats? I was a bit surprised to see had let himself in the conservatory today!

Did you know that herring gulls are endangered in the UK? Claude and his missus, Mamma, have been living on the roof longer than I have been here! If the weather is nice and I'm in the garden, they will chill out on top of the garage just lazing and keeping me company.

I've rescued two of their offspring over the years, one very young chick blew off the roof in a storm and another older juvenile got trapped behind a tight enclosure behind a 7 foot fence. I managed to climb on a ladder to pop chick back on the roof (luckily a bungalow roof). The fence one was tricky because I had no ladders to climb back out of the enclosure myself! How I managed to scale that thing I have no idea but I did! Not sure that would be the case now!

Hello sweeties! Finally Glacier Blue Soap Bars are available! This batch is made with my original formula of olive, coconut and brassica oils. It takes a while to cure because of all of the soft oils used in it. Usually I like to compliment the post of fresh and minty soap with the warmer weather to keep you cool but it's a bit nippy out there isn't it!

Today marks 12 years of my own little veganiversary! I tried to go vegan 24 years ago but I was a young athelete and I had a metabolism of a jumbo jet. Back then there was mostly the choice of dry soya chips, sos mix and the rather funky soya milk. Also not much information in the way of how to balance a vegan diet, so it was difficult.

However skip to 2012 and I was baptized by fire through watching Earthlings. I cried for about 3 days and went vegan straight away.

I became aware that animal ingredients were in so many things you would never dream of including soap and skin care. I made it my mission to create an entirely vegan business from practice to product, long before the buzz word got silly. The plan: To give customers the freedom to enjoy browsing ans shopping for bathroom goodies without the worry of what is in them.

Since then, there has been a huge positive shift in veganism and I have met some amazing people who also built vegan businesses, opened animal sanctuaries and brought awareness. To this day Little Blue Hen is still fluttering along wonderfully thank you to all my amazing customers and supporters! Thank you thank you thank you!

Hi sweeties! I have a new batch of Glacier Blue Soap Bars curing at the moment! They are lovingly made with olive, coconut and sunflower oils with essential oils of peppermint and rosemary. This formula always takes a little bit longer to cure because of the softer oils. Glacier Blue is firm favourite since I began the biz and perfect for the warmer months to keep your skin feeling cool and refreshed!
