Well done to everyone who took part in the 2024 Randonnee today - we'd like to thank each of you for your generous donations both online and at the checkpoints. It's only through the donations and badge sales that we can maintain the Randonnee in its current form and more importantly support local charities. We will publish in due course the charities and amounts we have donated. We’d also like to thank the local community for their support, Businesses, Schools and Villages that let us use their premises and the Schools for providing the feed stations that are so enjoyed by the participants - thank you all -

We will share details shortly.
We expect registration for the event to be open at the beginning of February, and again will share details shortly.

We are very sorry to have to inform everyone that the committee organising the Isle of Wight Randonnee has decided not to hold the event in 2021 given the situation and ongoing uncertainty resulting from the Covid-19 "Coronavirus" pandemic. This has been a difficult decision for us - given the nature of the Randonnee, with approximately 3,000 registered participants annually, the inevitable bunching of participants at ports, on ferries, checkpoints and feed stations, the presence of staff from a number of schools at feed stations and the age profile of our volunteers, all of which present a level of risk to the Public in context of the nature of Covid-19.
Our conclusion was that with public safety in mind, and the uncertainty ahead of us, it would be irresponsible (if not impossible) to plan for the event in the circumstances and that we should make the decision and notify participants and volunteers as early as possible.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience and look forward to holding the event again in the future....
We are very sorry to have to inform our followers that the committee organising the Isle of Wight Randonnee has decided to cancel the event for 2020, which was due to be held on 3rd May. Given the rapid spread of the Covid-19 "Coronavirus" in other parts of Europe and the current lack of clarity as to the extent to which the virus has spread in the UK we looked carefully at the measures being taken by other sporting events both in the UK and Continental Europe where event cancellations are becoming the norm. We also looked at the nature of the Randonnee, with approximately 3,000 registered participants annually, the inevitable bunching of participants at ports, on ferries, checkpoints and feed stations, the presence of staff from a number of schools at feed stations and the age profile of our volunteers, all of which present a level of risk to the Public in context of the nature of Covid-19. Our conclusion was that with public safety in mind, it would be irresponsible to hold the event in the circumstances and that we should make the decision and notify participants and volunteers as early as possible.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience and look forward to holding the event again next year if at all possible.
All - to keep you updated - we are monitoring the Coronavirus/COVID-19 advice on a daily basis and we will be following any guidance given by Central Government, local authorities and Public Health England. We are also consulting with Cycling UK who are providing regular updates on the holding of cycling events. It is not yet clear to what extent Coronavirus/COVID-19 will impact the 2020 Isle of Wight Randonnee and whether we will have to cancel or significantly modify the format for this year's event but we will be posting updates through our website and Social Media presence as soon as we are in a position to do so.
