Intervention #6: Disability Awareness
We deliver this intervention in the community to adults. The aim is to reduce stigma when talking about disabilities, and give people a chance to ask questions and learn from each other. Educating the community about the difficulties that disabled people may face may cause the community to treat people with disabilities with more empathy and understanding, which is our goal.

21/11/2020

Intervention #5: HIV Education
We deliver this intervention in secondary schools and to the wider adult community. The idea is to dispel myths around HIV and give people an opportunity to ask in depth questions about the progression of the disease, and to reduce the stigma surrounding it.

20/11/2020

Intervention #4: Sexual Education and Puberty
We deliver this intervention in secondary schools. The aim is to teach older children about sexual health and puberty, and give them a safe place without judgement in which to ask questions that may be seen as embarrassing.

19/11/2020

Intervention #3: Hand Hygiene
We deliver this intervention to nursery school age children when on project. The idea is to teach children about germs and the importance of hand washing and hygiene. Because the kids are so young, we try and make it as fun and as memorable as possible! Previous years have used brightly coloured confetti or glitter to represent germs and infection.

18/11/2020

Intervention #2: Road Safety
We deliver this intervention to nursery school age children when on project. The idea is to teach children about the basic principles of road safety. Although the ideas are very simple, children who grow up in rural areas may not realise the importance of looking before they cross the road. Because the children are quite young, we try and make it fun as possible, e.g. using a piece of brightly coloured fabric and toy cars to represent a road in the classroom.

17/11/2020

Intervention #1: Project Mwezi
We deliver this intervention in secondary schools and to the wider adult community. The idea is to teach young adults how to make reusable period pads and to promote menstrual hygiene. This is done with the wider aim of encouraging young girls to return to school while they are menstruating, which is seen as taboo in rural Tanzania. It also allows women to become financially independent by selling the reusable pads if they choose to.
