It's International Women's Day and this year NAWIC North East and Tees Valley are supporting the United Nations theme of Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress. The theme focusses on achieving gender quality and women's well-being in all aspects of life which is more crucial than ever in creating prosperous economies and a healthy planet. 🌍

It is vital that we have the whole of society represented in the Built Environment, making the industry an inclusive place for everyone. Here at NAWIC North East and Tees Valley we empower women in our region and industry - our images highlight the progress of some of our network from the start of their career to where they are now. 🙏

Be part of the movement and invest in women to accelerate their progress - with still only 14% of our industry represented by women (less in senior roles) we have a long way to go to make our industry a better place for everyone. 🗣

Thank you to B&K and the Port of Tyne for inviting NAWIC North East to the Dogger Bank site at the Port of Tyne yesterday where the B&K site manager, Liz Wilson, gave a group of us a tour of the site. The project will be the Operation & Maintenance base for the Dogger Bank Wind Farm and is set to bring hundreds of jobs and supply chain opportunities to the north east for clients Equinor, SSE Renewables and ENI Plenitude. The project is also net-zero carbon, strengthening the Port of Tyne's positioning to become a low-carbon industrial hub. On site Liz talked us through the various facilities available to employees once complete, including an outdoor gym & recreation space, and internal offices with views across the Port and river. A great opportunity to be on site at an exciting stage of the project viewing the fabulous Glulam structure, installation of acoustic walls and installation of M&E equipment. Thanks to all those who came along.
