Happy birthday to our most esteemed and eternally missed friend.
This is the picture, the image that mesmerised me so much as a child and sort of contributed to what it is I do today. It’s the 1975 album cover of Elvis Today.
The half smile, the collars, the decoration of the shirt, but mostly the very small glint in the eye that seemed to me to almost be a wink saying “hey kid”, like Han
Solo in Star Wars, all hypnotically drew me to this man, I couldn’t say his name. He look mysterious, like from a native culture somewhere and I could never stop staring at the picture when my parents played the music held behind the picture. Pieces of my life and Green Green Grass both the most rememberable songs on the album to me, even at 5 years old and the attention seeking opener TROUBLE that would grab me every time, after pleading my mum daily to ‘play the man, play the man again.
This picture makes me miss him more than usual when I see it because it reminds that he was alive then, a time in my life, that I can remember, that he was alive too, insane.

I don’t believe there is a better set of recordings of Elvis in existence but I’m
biased as these are so special you me and the production is so good. The songs and album
may not have set the world back on fire for him but they were pure, from his heart and, as we know, would always mean something to him or touch him
In some way that would inspire him to record them.
Happy birthday Elvis.
I’ll play this album today, think of you and take myself back to being a mesmerised 3 year old boy staring at the album and singing along to ‘Bringing it Back’

To all our dear family, friends and extended friends on media. Clients from shows, functions and private events through out the year. It’s been a great 12months in many ways for many of us and a tough one for many others.
