I am not sure if I was warming up or just very excited on this picture from yesterday 😂 but the Lions Bridge 50k ultramarathon really was a great event. A beautiful trail run, very local to me and easy to fit in with all my work commitments 🌳😎🏃♀️
Now - assessments are booked for this week, let’s get to work 👍

As an Employment Expert, I found the Bond Solon article about lawyers suggesting amendments to the experts’ draft joint statement to be very interesting. It quotes paragraph 13.6.3 of the TCC Guide:
“Whilst the parties’ legal advisers may assist in identifying issues which the joint statement should address, those legal advisers must not be involved in either negotiating or drafting the experts’ joint statement. Legal advisers should only invite the experts to consider amending any draft joint statement in exceptional circumstances where there are serious concerns that the court may misunderstand or be misled by the terms of that joint statement. Any such concern should be raised with all experts involved in the joint statement.”
Thank you Bond Solon

Summer is a busy time for me, but I always make time to go running - to stay healthy and to clear my mind.
Fortunately, there are hundreds and hundreds of health and sports initiatives going on every weekend all over the country and they cater to people of all ages and abilities.
Finding a new event to try is always exciting, and when I saw the London Ultra 55k being advertised, I knew that I had to try it!
The London Ultra 55k is a beautiful course that encompasses the entire southern section of the Capital Ring footpath, taking runners through some of London’s finest scenery, including the Thames Barrier, Eltham Palace, Wimbledon Common & Richmond Park.
Being (almost) flat, it allows for a smooth and steady running pace along the whole route.
Yep, it may have taken me as long to drive to London as it did to run the whole course, but it was a lovely day in south London, the route was beautiful (a deer in Richmond park!) and it was certainly worth it in the end! 🏃♀️😎☀️ 🌳🦌
…Back to work today, busy again, and loving my memories of last weekend…👍👍👍

My out of office message today: “Recovering. Back on 16/04/2024”.
I am taking a day off work to recover from a fantastic (albeit very gruelling) challenge.
My weekend…
I started the GB Ultras 102-mile Chester Ultramarathon at 6am on Saturday along with 200+ other crazy & wonderful people, and I completed it early on Sunday afternoon after a non-stop 31 hours and 10 minutes of running. 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️
Point of interest… I had never known before that after running for fifteen hours and eating on the move, all food starts to taste the same 🍌 🍫 🥪
The weekend’s route descriptions include: shin deep trails of mud that went on for miles, a beautiful sunrise over the Dee estuary, and climbing the gnarly hills of Frodsham (and coming down the other side on very sore legs) twice! ⛰️ ⛰️
Running through the night was a whole new experience for me. Sheep (and other creatures of the night) were everywhere and their eyes glowed demonically as my headlight caught them. From time to time, I could see other runners headlights bobbing around in the distance and making me question if I was on the right track.
In Warrington and Widnes, the pub and club goers looked on bemused, as tiny little me, caked in mud, shuffled through the town centre en route to the next canal towpath. AND… the canal towpaths…. How very, very narrow they seem to be in the dead of night. The arrival of dawn was very, very welcome…. but I still had 40 miles to go.
Lastly though, I have to say that I have never known such a spirit of love, support and encouragement that I have found in the GB Ultras community. Everyone who takes part in these incredible challenges I now call my friends - the other runners, the fabulous volunteers and of course the organisers who put all of this together.
I am still on a high today. Very, very sore and emotional, but I am thrilled to have joined the minuscular percentage of runners who have started and completed a 100 mile ultramarathon. 🥇

If only happiness was measured in miles…
On Good Friday, I completed the 50-mile Manchester to Liverpool ultra marathon.
Beast mode was activated at 6am, and the weather conditions in Manchester were perfect.
It was a fantastic 10 hours and 34 minutes of running, moving, grooving, chatting to friends, suffering, laughing, getting massive blisters & bruises, sliding in mud – and finally sprinting to that awesome, magic finish line. I did it, along with 400 other crazy people. 😎🏃♀️🔥🏅🏃♂️
And ohhhhhh the Manchester bee medal is my best medal yet!
(Unattractive, sweaty & muddy pictures have not been included - which were most of my pictures).
Spring is here 💧☔️🌧️
On my way to Bristol to see a serious injury client.
Being in work is good for people.

Not only Lewis Hamilton can go fast around a Gran Prix racing track - I can too! But he does it on 4 wheels, and I did it on my own two legs. What a day on the Oulton race track yesterday! 🏁 🏎️🏃♀️😎 ☀️

Destination: Midlands. I am meeting a client to assess their functional capacity for work and identify suitable occupations.

Last weekend was all about an insane octopus medal. 🐙🥇🏃♀️😎🐊🇺🇸 The Oak Island marathon organisers went an extra mile with it, that’s for sure - it’s the size of a dinner plate!! 😂
Now boarding the overnight flight back home, and back to work. ✈️🌎🙂
It may not be my best recording, but it took me about 200 attempts to do this. 😅 As requested by Case Management Society UK, I have just recorded a quick intro for my presentation at the CMSUK Conference Courage & Curiosity next month.
Full attendance at an MDT meeting today…👍💀
