My Top 10 highlights of the week

1. Relaxing woodland family walk, getting out and in amongst nature is one of my favourite things to do.

2. We finally tried the Italian restaurant La Balena, and the food was 10/10! Highly recommend!

3. Adventures with Josh 🩵 seeing what we can catch in the river 🐟

4. One of the girls I met on the crete retreat sent over some photos I didn't know existed. One of the best experiences of my life 🇬🇷

5. We rescued a hedgehog, he was walking towards a busy road, I asked Dean if we could keep him but he said no 😔

6. Josh & Dean taught me to play Chess, or "Chest" as Josh calls it.

7. I booked a spa day for our upcoming trip to England 💆‍♀️ I can't wait to have a back massage & facial.

8. I launched my first ever monthly newsletter, super nervous to put it out there but already some of you have showed your support and signed up 🩷Leave your email address in the comments to receive your copy on 1st August 2024 📧

9. I welcomed 5 new clients this week 🩷💅 It's always a pleasure seeing new faces in the salon and welcoming them to our nail family, best little community ever 🫶

10. Took a mindful walk to the machair, I'm trying to be more present and take time away from the never ending to do list. It's hard to switch off, but the blossoming machiar did a great job of making my head stop going a million miles an hour and appreciate being in the moment. I watched this little bee busy doing his work, nature just amazes me!

Bridal Party Prep

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of spending the day at the Macdonald family home. Helping to prep a bride and the bridal party for such a big day is one of the best parts of being a nail technician.

The day was filled with laughter, yummy food, and the love everyone had for the bride and groom was evident to see. It was such a wholesome experience to be a part of.

A special thanks to Christine for asking me to work alongside her. It really was a beautiful day start to finish.

Hi everyone! I have recently noticed we have a lot of new followers on the socials, so I wanted to take the opportunity to welcome you all properly and reintroduce myself. I am so happy to see so many new faces and welcome you all to the Carrie Brown CND Nails & Beauty page. Here, you will find a community of like-minded women who, like me, are obsessed with all things nails, beauty, and self care related.
As the business owner, I don't often post pictures of myself here, but it's important to me that whether you're leaving a comment or booking an appointment with me, you know who you are communicating with. Firstly, as you may have already guessed, my name is Carrie. Im 35 years old and have 19 years of experience in the industry. I am very grateful that I get to have a career in an industry I am so passionate about. I qualified in Acrylic nails in June 2005, specialising in sculptured acrylic (great for nail biters or those with tiny nail beds), then did numerous additional courses to expand my services so I could offer the most luxurious, up to date treatments to my clients. Like most in the industry, I started with model clients to build up my clientele and my confidence. Some of those clients were still with me up until 4 years ago when I changed location, moving from the central belt to the beautiful Isle of Lewis.
Over the course of my career, I have worked in various settings such as salons in hairdressers, nail bars, spas, and department stores. I left the employment world around 12 years ago, and Carrie Brown CND Nails was created. My personality and home based salon align perfectly. Everything is pink, even down to the kettle. When you arrive at the salon, you will see a double parking bay to the left of the house, this area is for you to park (no more laps of town to find a car parking space), you will be greeted at the door and taken through to the treatment room where you can relax with a drink and snack of your choice. I have also introduced the tablet to the nail desk should you wish to catch up with your favourite series on netflix whilst I work away on your treatment.

My niche is nail health. If you are someone who appreciates luxury treatments/nail enhancements that don't compromise on the health of the natural nail, then you are right where you're meant to be.

The salon offers appointments Tuesdays 9.30am- 2.30pm, Thursdays 3.30pm-8pm and Fridays 9.30am. The salon did offer Wednesday appointments up until recently, and I will be reintroducing a Wednesday once I have completed my current "secret" project.

I offer a variety of treatments ranging from Manicures to HD Brow Lamination. A full list of treatments available can be found by clicking on the Fresha link in the bio.

I take my profession very seriously. You can rest assured that anything that is discussed in the salon stays confidential. What happens in the salon stays in the salon.

I take pride in the standard of my services. My goal is for each and every client to have a great experience from the first point of contact all the way through to after the treatment. I work on a one to one basis to ensure you have my undivided attention.
There is a booking system in place for you to make or edit your appointments 24/7. You will be sent reminders of your upcoming appointments.

Good morning, and a very happy Monday to you all.

We arrived back on home soil late last night, it's been a very busy, productive two weeks and I'm ready to get back to routine, implement everything that i have learnt for the exciting future of my business, and last but not least start back doing what I love best...carrying out treatments for you all.

Thank you for all your patience whilst I've been on the Crete Retreat with the NTO and more so over the past week whilst i moved my dad into his new care home 🥹💙 Many of you ask regularly how my parents are doing and they are both doing so well with the new arrangements.

Today will be spent replying to all messages and organising appointments.
I can't wait to see you all and tell you all about my adventures. As I've mentioned previously, big things are going on behind the scenes, things that you're all going to love and benefit from.

Girls, I had the time of my life with you all. The memories we made will be cherished forever. Just by being there, each and every one of you made the experience that more magical!
I came into the retreat alone, feeling lost and not knowing where I belonged in life, both personally and professionally.
I left, having found myself, and 20 new best friends, and knowing exactly where I belonged...
IN THE NTO!!!

💦🇬🇷 Crete Retreat Day 3 🇬🇷 💦

Amy made me cry! ALOT

Day 3 started with a guided meditation & visualisation session led by Amy. For some of the girls, it was their first time. Practising meditation and visualisation is something I do regularly, but this hit differently! This hit like a ton of bricks, and I was not expecting it.

Amy is not only the founder of the NTO, but she is also a positivity coach... and an absolutely amazing one at that ❤️ Never have I experienced such a beautiful, powerful meditation like it. Like I previously mentioned, I have practised meditation & visualisation a lot, but only twice has it brought me to tears, and both times, guess who led it?...yip Amy, in the most beautiful way!

Amy has this amazing energy around her that just makes you feel so alive and ready to be the highest version of yourself.

By the end of the session, you best believe there was not a dry eye. We were all a blubbering mess 🤭 Mindfulness is such an important part of my personal self care, and if you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend it.

It was then time to get into the board room and learn how to make our wildest dreams our reality.

My Top 10 highlights of Day 1 at the Crete Retreat

1 🩷 The sense of achievement in travelling solo for my first ever business trip to a country I've never been to to meet 22 like-minded women who I'd never met.

2🩷 Having the courage to sit with my feels & accept the fear of the unknown and do it anyway. I rewarded myself with an airport Ameretto Sour.

3🩷 Meeting the girls... Some of us decided to stay at a hotel one night prior to the retreat. It was amazing but so nerve-racking walking out in the morning to say hi 👋 and introduce myself.

4🩷 Nerves all gone. These girls are beautiful inside and out, and I knew from that moment we were going to have the time of our lives.

5🩷 Time to leave the hotel for the retreat and meet the NTO dream team and all the other girls.

6🩷 We arrived to a lovely refreshing drink and met each other, and THEE Amy Guy, founder of the NTO. I was slightly embarrassed as I felt starstruck. This woman is a huge inspiration to me, and when she went in for a hug, I think I froze solid from the shock 🤣

7🩷 Our rooms 🫶😍 We headed to our rooms, which were absolutely amazing with a luxurious yet modern feel. I got to share with the lovely Olivia.

8🩷 On our beds were beautiful handwritten letters from Amy. Each one individually personalised.

9🩷 Each of us received welcome goodies, which included an NTO robe, notebook, pen, towel, hair goodies, and a note from Amy to congratulate us on all we have achieved so far.

10🩷 I saved my favourite til last...The welcome dinner! The welcome dinner venue was held in the hotels very own organic kitchen where the chefs had handpicked everything for our meal fresh that morning. On the table were more gifts, a gorgeous shell bracelet from Amy and a small glass jar filled with sand with a secret message hidden inside, we were to keep the jar for when we felt we needed a little pick me up. At the dinner, we shared stories, laughed, cried, and set goals & intensions of what we would like to achieve from this retreat, then we folded them up and put them in a jar. It was time to end the night and head to bed as we were up early the next morning for a day of...

The salon provides a safe, private, non judgemental space for you to come to relax and unwind.

No need to come wearing your finest clothes, unless you want too of course. Absolutely no judgements here if you want to come to your late night appointment in your pyjamas after a long day at work.

Your appointment is a time for you to spend exactly as you choose, whether this means having a silent appointment, having a confidential chat or relaxing with a bespoke playlist of your favourite songs, it is my priority to ensure you have the best experience possible during your visit, just let me know and I will ensure to accommodate your wishes.

The salon has a drink & snack bar for you to enjoy whilst having your chosen treatment carried out. If you have any dietary requirements, please let me know prior to your visit.

You will find me in the salon carrying out treatments Tuesday through to Friday. A full list of salon opening times can be found in the bio on the home page.

When you arrive at the property, you will see on the left-hand side a private parking bay for you to use.
