Utterly Hooked Designs
Utterly Hooked Design's is a small Business that sells Latch Hook Kits and rug making supplies. We have three grown up children and a dog.
All the kits are designed by myself (Clare Utley), hooked by me and then packed and shipped by me and my husband. I was born in North Yorkshire and live with my husband on our farm in the Dales. I have always loved being creative. It all started as a small girl with making dolls clothes, then dressmaking, embroidery and onto soft furnishings when I had my own home to decorate. Working on an imaginative play mat for one of our grandchildren. There are fields, a river, rocks, flowers and reeds growing so far, oh and a little beach. More to come. ππͺ΅πΌπͺ¨

My Butterfly Latch Hook Cushion Kit is now on our website. I loved doing the 1st one, Coverdale Jewel so much I have done another one and called her Dolly Mixtures. There are 9 new designs in total (at the moment! π). This cushion shape and design has been a joy to do and so quick, I might have to do another one. The website is a little quiet at the moment as you are all out gardening πΊ so I have been doing more latch hooking. π¦β€οΈπ©·ππ©΅π
Finished! My new latch hook cushion design. I had forgotten how quick and easy this lovely cushion shape is to do. I have enjoyed it so much I have started another butterfly in different colours. I think I might call this one Jewel. I shall be listing it soon on our website. π¦ππ©Έ
What amazing job Myra has done with my Utterly Initialed latch hook cushion kit. Did you know you can choose any background from our yarn palette as well as the letter colour? Myra chose Pink Fizz and Lime Green and WOW does it pop! π©·π

My sleeping lion latch hook cushion kit has a hidden rainbow of colours hiding in his lovely longer sensory mane and his whiskers may twitch as he sleeps. He would be fabulous for any child or Rainbow Lion Loving adult!
As always you were all amazing and came up with some wonderful names for my new latch hook cushion kit. I particularly loved hearing the reasons for your choices, happy memories! I have picked a name and it is one I think suits my Lion perfectly and it is quite genius, WELL DONE LAURA. I love a play on words. Welcome to RAINBOW ROARY! ππ¦β€οΈ
This design might be a kit, what do you think? I also need a name for him. I have a few ideas but any help would be much appreciated. My sleeping lion latch hook cushion kit has a hidden rainbow of colours hiding in his lovely longer sensory mane and his whiskers may twitch as he sleeps. I designed him specially for our eldest granddaughter but I think he would be fabulous for any child or Rainbow Lion Loving adult!π¦π
Did you know that you can now choose from our Super Latch Yarn palette the colour of your Initial and the background? I had so many requests for this that now you can do it on line. π
Afternoon Tea is one of my favourite things to do. It always feels like a special occasion when you're eating tiny cakes! You can now choose your background colour for my pretty Latch Hook Rug Kit from our Super Latch Yarn palette. πππ°π«
I hadnβt really thought about it before, no idea why π I am a Textile Artist but I now realise I am a Pixel Artist tooπ². I was doing research for my next project when it dawned on me! When I am designing it is tiny little squares that I move about and give different colours to achieve the impression I want to create. I hand draw all my own designs using digital software as my building block. Our world is full of pixels and is used in so many things like programming and the biggest art form of Gaming. I am sure you have heard of the game Minecraft; it is a perfect example of Pixel Art. The designs below are done from different sized pixels but your brain tells you what you are looking at, it is quite mesmerizing. π₯π§π¨π©π¦πͺβ¬οΈβ¬οΈπ«

Clare's Garden new mug design now on my website. The pictures are all taken in and around my lovely neighbours gardens, all of which where part of the original inspiration for my design for my Clare's Garden latch hug rug. Thank you all!
My mugs have been popular so I decided to have a few more done but with my Clare's Garden rug design on. Soon will be up on my website. Only 1 mug left of my On The Verge (Wildflowers) design. πΊπΌπΏπͺ»π·
Sue is thrilled with her finished On The Verge (Wildflowers) latch hook cushion kits. She sent me this lovely message.
'I thought you may like to see how wonderful these cushions look in my kitchen. The whole room has βwoken upβ!!! I am now totally hooked on this craft, something I first did at junior school on a Friday afternoon if I had finished my work. Now the inspiration to finish my chores is renewed so I can continue my hooking!
Thankyou for the inspirational kits you have designed.
Now itching to start my garden rug.
So lovely to hear! Thanks so much Sue, beautiful job! β€πΊπ±π₯πΈπΌ
Pam has done her own beautiful design using our yarn and supplies. The background is Green Tea; then she has used Deep Coral, Candy Pink, Lemon Sherbet, Aqua and Delft Blue. I think it is stunning and a little reminiscent of Art Nouveau. Fantastic work Pam! β€
TROPICAL YORKSHIRE
This new design is what I like to imagine might have grown in the tropical rain forests of Yorkshire 3568.9 Million Years ago. During the Carboniferous period most of Yorkshire was tropical and covered in water! Amazing, I know! I bet you can't believe you were going to get a Geology lesson. Plus it is a cute little rug that would brighten up any space! ππͺ¨πΊπΌ
Sandra has just finished my Clare's Garden latch hook rug kit design and has done a beautiful job, even stitching the time line on the rug binding. I love this little touch.
Message from a new customer Claire

UPDATE
Some good news. The Ebay seller messaged me and has removed the kits they had on their site. They say they had no idea. Will still keep an eye on them though, I think.
Please if you see any of my designs anywhere else except my website, let me know. I don't sell anywhere else. Clare x
I AM FEELING SICK TO MY STOMACH.
I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF MY KITS DESIGNS HAVE BEEN STOLEN, YES STOLEN IS THE WORD BY A GLOBAL COMPANY AND ARE BEING SOLD ON TWO LARGE MARKET PLACES. I DO NOT SELL ANYWHERE ELSE AND I DID NOT GIVE MY PERMISSION. THE YARN THAT GOES WITH THESE COPIED KITS IS THE CHEAP NASTY STUFF MASS PRODUCED.
PLEASE DO NO BUY THEM AS YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO, YES THEY HAVE STOLEN MY PHOTOS TOO!
WHY ARE THERE PEOPLE LIKE THIS IN THE WORLD, NOTHING IS SAFE. IF I DONT GET SOME RESULTS I SHALL NAME AND SHAME THOSE THAT ARE SELLING THEM.
SO EXCITED! If you are a subscriber to you will getting my little spring kit in the next few days! It is just the right size to give you a lovely taster of how wonderful Latch Hooking is and something to brighten up your home. πβ€οΈπβ
Anthea has done my Kaleidoscope latch hook rug kit in the 'Black Eyed Peas' colour version. It looks amazing, especially in her gorgeous sitting room! Great job Anthea! π₯ππ π¨π»π³
Ian has been a wonderful customer of ours for a long time. He has kept all the yarn left over from the kits he has bought from us (this shows you how generous we are when we pack them up!) and made a full sized hearth rug of his own design. There are a few hints in there of some of my kit designs too! WELL DONE IAN! π₯³π₯π
Our lovely customer Emma designed and created this fabulous rug using our materials. I love the overlapping in the design, it gives it a great 3D effect. π¦π§π¨π₯π¦β¬οΈ
Our Story
I was born in North Yorkshire and live with my husband on our farm in the Dales. We have three children and a dog named Polly.
I have always loved being creative. It all started as a small girl with making dolls clothes, then dressmaking, embroidery and onto soft furnishings when I had my own home to decorate. There is nothing more energising and relaxing as creating something with your hands. When itβs finished you can then step back and admire your work.
I fell into Latch Hooking by accident. My mum bought me a kit she found at a charity fair and I was hooked! After doing further kits I felt quite dissatisfied with the quality of designs and yarn. I decided to make my own and started my research. I found a company that could supply me with superior yarn and great colours and I set off on my first project.
Nowadays we all have such busy lives, it's important to remember to take a few moments to get creative. Making beautiful things is so good for the heart and soul. The repetitive movement of Latch hooking is a great stress reliever. You can pick it up and put it down and not worry about where you left it. You can watch television, listen to the radio, be among friends and family, do a little bit while dinnerβs in the oven. You donβt need mountains of expensive equipment, it is so easy any one can do it and it doesnβt matter if you are right or left handed!
