Year 6 Adventures…
Day One…

We have walked along the River Wear and past the Wheat fields that provide us with Weetabix.… we then had a picnic on our own private River Beach.

We waved at the train as it zoomed past us and now we are having pizza, chips, salad and cake.

Later we are cooking sweets around the camp fire and tomorrow we are taking part in a paddle boarding competition and building a bridge across the river!

The Trailblazers have had a fabulous first day and enjoyed their lunch around the river.

They will shortly be having tea before getting ready for their night time activity! 💙

Stay and Play is back!

Join Mrs Jackson tomorrow for Stay and Play. 1:30 - 3pm

We have been approached by Fishburn Parish Council to see if any of our children might be interested in taking part in the D Day Remembrance service on Thursday 6th of June.

They are looking for 2 children, one who is younger than 10 and one who is 10+ to represent 2 decades in the service. They will need to be able to attend the service with their parent or carer and share some words that have been pre-prepared. Please note school staff will not be attending this service with the children and so parents will need to be in attendance throughout.

Further details will be provided to the parents of the children who are chosen.

Details of the service are as follows:
⭐️JUST A LITTLE HEADS UP FROM FISHBURN PARISH COUNCIL⭐️

The trees of inspiration will be lit from Wednesday 05/06/24 for a period of a week from 8pm to 01.00am .

This is to coincide with the run up to the D Day remembrance on Thursday 06/06/24

There will be various things planted within the plant pots along the village green and on the village green itself .

There will be a short service read out from our resident Vicar at approx 20.45 , the beacon will be lit at 21.15 on Thursday 06/06/24

We would really like it if people from all ages could attend and help us remember this poignant occasion.

We hope to see you all there and feel free to share this post .

This week in Forest School, The Pioneers made a Stone Age village! This included making a protection wall (to protect us from wild boar), a fire area (with seats to sit on) and a longhouse. We worked together as a team to gather all the equipment we needed to make this amazing Stone Age village. Then we created a video to tell you all about how we made it! Well done The Pioneers!

Due to unforeseen circumstances there will be no stay and play this week. (Wednesday 8th May). Stay and Play will resume again next week. Sorry for any inconvenience

We are having some technical issues with our phone lines at the moment… we can’t make or receive calls but we are able to listen to voicemails (as these are sent directly to our Admin email). 🌟 Celebrating our stars of the week and well-being warriors! 🌟 Big cheers to our outstanding achievers for their hard work and dedication, and heartfelt thanks to our well-being warriors for promoting health and positivity. You all make our team shine! 🌟💪

The Pioneers had forest school where we made a Fijian oven and curry! They worked as a team brilliantly. They carried their equipment, gathered sticks and hay and made a Fijian oven. The fire was lit and we cooked our curry on the fire. We stirred the curry so it would cook evenly and we even had a try! Well done to all who had a try. Great job The Pioneers!

This morning, The Pioneers were Stone Age Warriors. We thought of adjectives to describe Stone Age Warriors, a few examples are fierce, brave and athletic. We then came up with a fitness programme to get the warriors ready for a hunt. The children came up with 10 exercises to do including spear throwing so we made our spears and completed the fitness programme pretending we were Stone Age warriors.

🌲🍃 Wrapping up the final session of forest school for our Discoverers Class! Today's lesson on camouflage and concealment was a hit – they really embraced the challenge and impressed us all!

🎶 Exciting news from the Discoverers! 🌟 They've been busy crafting musical shaker instruments from recycled materials, and tomorrow, they're ready to take the stage and create their own original music. 🥁🎵 Get ready to witness their talent shine as they aim for the top spot. 🏆 🎼
