Our Joe prepping 200 turned walnut legs for a special edition p i p i piano!
Wednesday woodwork. Chris planing up walnut. Guy sanding components cut on the CNC. It's pictures like this that make me think we've got too much wood...no you can always put more shelves up.
Chris surrounded by everything he needs, carefully giving the case a second coat of lacquer only to areas that have very open or end grain such as the rounded edges, sloping sides and cut outs. This helps fill the pores of the wood and raises the grain . He sands again before it comes to me (Evan) in the spray room.
I get a much better, uniform finish in less coats since we started doing this. I think it's quicker, it's definitely better for getting consistency.
We've been working very closely with a local manufacturer for the past 5 months designing assembly jigs, this is around a quarter of them in this picture. They combine 8 separate processes and save several hours in the assembly stage which equates to large savings in build cost and guaranteed accuracy and repeatability which saves more time further down the line. The latest bonus improvement is they also speed up and simplify stock checking too! I can't go into details about what they actually do but it's something I'm rather proud of... At Bare Joinery we can literally do anything, what a team. Well done us.
"Dusty workshops and mirrors oh boy!" And repeat...
Part A, part B and C Blakeman showing off some faux block wall sheets we are making for the very creative .studio as part of a much larger project they are working on. Making these reminded me of the textured wall tile and panel collection we worked on last year but got busy and didn't do anything with..
Spring is just round the corner maybe it will bring some creative sap with it and I'll get them finished and show you?
Sleek and modern walnut coffee table. Simple clean lines and crisp mitres, sometimes less is more. Very low to the floor with the plinth set in to give a shadow gap against the floor.
This was a fun one to make, all cut out on the CNC then domino and glued together.
EVENTS!
Versatile print stands for exhibiting art work, made for . After a lot of thought and a few different variations we came up with these designs The stands lock together and are very sturdy but also easy to take apart when you are done. No extra fixings needed and they fit in tiny cars?
Using moulding toolpaths to create an incredibly smooth ring. 5%step over for those in the know... We can create pretty much any shape and design. This is for a photoshoot but the principle applies to decorative mouldings, panels, doors for the home or workplace.
Something we cut out and sprayed for .studio and for their many themed project. The old school t.v sets had ipads inside, so a bit of something for everyone I think we can all agree...

Bespoke shims for a local firm in 1mm Petg (plastic) Making hundreds of these in such a thin material has its challenges on a CNC. The right cutter, feed, speed and order are needed to stop them flying all over the place....luckily we test programmes before we go into production, saving time and wasted materials.
We were commissioned by the very talented Karen to build her a work desk that didn't block out the light of the window, fit the very good value drawer sets she had bought, look clean and stylish and fit up 2 fights of stairs.
The Make Space A frame desk was born... The top is 1500mm x 1800mm 1 piece made from 24mm birch as is the rest of it, sprayed with a very hard wearing waterbased Pu varnish, it's flat pack and can be put up in 5 mins! Made possible by using clamex fixings, you only need an Allen key.
We designed it with production in mind so if anyone likes the look of it please get in touch we'd love to make more.
By popular demand we are now supplying slatted real oak veneer /black wall panels. Super easy for DIY installation too, simply cut to required height and stick to your wall! If you have a specific requirement or need custom cutting we can do that also.

TBTâŚ. To one of our favourite jobs ever! Beautiful handmade Sapele display cabinet built to incorporate the wonderfully colourful boxes.
Looking forward to transforming these American Ash and Oak planks into some beautiful Stair Parts next week! Look out for the over the next couple of weeks.
Coming soon!
Prototyping continues on our new Bare pack away tables and stools.
Latest project with Karen internals made from teak stained sapele veneer and exterior sprayed then brushed out with Benjamin moore scuff x to give a more traditional look in this beautiful victorian terrace. We don't have an options book with a couple of styles to choose from, every single piece we make is unique with details and influences drawn in from the designers we work with, the customers tastes, and our many years studying and appreciating furniture styles from all over the world and throughout history. My holiday snaps are 90% architecture and details of old doors and mouldings 10% forgetting how to smile naturally. ( the door handles are completely level, it's just a funny angle)
Chris had to call in to pick up some artwork he'd had framed earlier this year, the team at The Art Works have finished putting up the sample frames they have at their new covid safe framing counter we made for them. They wanted paneling, we thought why buy more beading? when they have metres of old stock and short lengths that will get thrown out, a double whammy of fun colourful design and the ethos we like to employ whenever possible.
Library ladder, all made from scratch
Sneak peek of the library with sliding ladder, there is still more work for us to do in this room and a complete redecoration with new colour scheme, it's going to be pretty special. I'll do a ladder build post later in the week for anyone interested in our unpatented design for ladder wheels with a weight activated brake.
A little something we've been working on...
1300 x 1420 solid beech glass cabinet. Custom paint job. After several months, well nearly a year... Of talking with our clients about the design of this unit it became clear that when you are trying to describe something out of the ordinary a picture is what you need, this forced me to learn sketchup. I've forgotten to put the sketchup drawing on this set of photos but I assure you they look very similar.
