2195 (Long Eaton) Air Cadets were out again, this time offering support for the annual ‘A Christmas Concert’ at Trent College. This event was a celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III & Queen Camilla and was hosted by the East Midlands Reserve Forces and Cadet Association together with The Rotary Club of Long Eaton - RCLE with an array of music superbly performed by The Band of Derbyshire Army Cadet Force.
The group of dedicated and selfless Air Cadets gave up their Saturday evening to help in a remarkable display of community spirit and tri-service collaboration by volunteering their time to serve as parking marshalls.
The cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) eagerly stepped up to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and parking arrangements, ensuring concert-goers had a hassle-free experience from the moment they arrived. With professionalism and enthusiasm, they directed vehicles to designated spaces, guided attendees through parking areas, and helped maintain a safe environment around the venue.
Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as numerous concert attendees expressed their gratitude for the cadets' exceptional support and assistance. Their commitment to service and community involvement is truly inspiring and sets a shining example for other young people in our area.
We are feeling inspired and energised today after our Youth Participation learning session, part of the Uniformed Youth Fund learning sessions series.
We were lucky enough to have Emma-Jane Hampsheir-Gill (National Youth Participation Lead (Volunteer) for St John Ambulance) lead an incredibly engaging and insightful session for the uniformed youth organisations on all things Youth Participation and Youth Voice.
It was great to hear from everyone taking part about their understanding of Youth Participation and their organisational journeys to date.
It would be impossible to capture the wealth of information and experiences shared in one post, but here are a few thoughts from attendees.
Thank you so much to Emma-Jane and all of the participants from uniformed youth organisations.

A series of Progressive Training Syllabus badges awarded to our cadets this week.
Four cadets were awarded their Blue Wings having successfully completed: the Flying Operations Package, Ground Based Training using a flight simulator, and a flight in either a Grob Tutor or Grob Viking.
In addition, six cadets were awarded Bronze Trained Shot badges having met the required standard using the L144A1 Cadet Small Bore Target Rifle.
A special mention goes to Cadet Barszcz for not only securing both the above badges, but also achieving his Bronze Marksman badge - giving him 3 in total.
Congratulations to you all!

We Will Remember Them.
Spondon Branch are so proud to have youth members, this young lady has supported this year's launch, by arranging her work shifts so she could deliver the Poppy's to local businesses on Pride Park on Friday,, she has been at Asda table (along with other fabulous cadets) all day both Saturday and Sunday, she is now at college and working full time this week, but still squeezing in a few evening shifts to help us keep the tables open for as long as possible all because she wants to make a difference, we are so please and proud to have you on board as part of the team. Here she is with Howard, know locally as the Poppy man 💕
Youth membership is free for anyone aged 12-18 years old. To join a completed paper application is required with consent from a parent or guardian. Please contact us at your local branch to find out more.
As we learn more about Black history, we're resharing a blog from Scout Volunteer, Mike Clarke. He writes about what Windrush means to him and how this links to his volunteer role reaching more under-represented communities. https://bit.ly/46Sshyp
2517 Squadron had 3 staff and 1 cadet NCO attend and pass the Mountain Training Indoor Climbing Assistant course this weekend. Big congratulations to all, and we look forward to deploying your new qualifications on some climbing sessions over winter!
This evening cadets from 2517 took part in a training evening with the OC. Sqn Ldr Holloway took cadets through some decision making tools used by the Civilian Blue Light services, culminating in a demanding table top exercise.
Well done to all this evening - great energy and effort!
2517 Squadron competed at the Staffordshire Wing Field Day today. An amazing effort from all of our cadets, the staff are incredibly proud of all of you, and your effort in preparing for the competition.
Well done!
Here we have 8th Ilkeston Guides and Rangers presenting their cheque to Nottingham City Hospital Breast Care. They did a sponsored walk as they were keen to help support this fantastic service who provide care to women having breast cancer treatment, inspired by one of their leaders❤️

Cadets go to Infinity and Beyond! (almost!)
Tonight some of our Cadets have been awarded their Blue Space certificates. They have worked really hard to complete it and are to be congratulated for their endeavour.
The newly introduced Space syllabus teaches where Space begins, the technology developed that is now used in everyday life and the many uses of satellites in orbit around our planet.
Cadets can take their studies even further through our progressive Space syllabus with the Bronze award. Silver and Gold awards will shortly be available, which when completed will reward the Cadets with a BTEC Level 2 in Space Studies!
Flt Lt Mills RAFAC, Officer Commanding 2195 Sqn said "This is superb qualification that introduces our Cadets to an area that is of huge importance for the future of UK Air Power and Space Operations"
Civilian Instructor Emma Mosley who has delivered the course and is employed at the National Space Centre in Leicester has worked hard to roll the subject out on 2195 Sqn and looks forward to continuing this with the remainder of the Squadron.
If you would like to learn more about what the RAF Air Cadets has to offer please get in touch. We are recruiting new Cadets and Adult Volunteers at 2195 Squadron.
