After a lot of time spent on mobility, stability,strength,breathing and working on my running mechanics it felt great to be out on the pitch running . Will build up the aerobic runs over the next few weeks to let the body adjust and adapt before some short and sharper work . My Top 5 Alternative Fat Loss Tips!!!!!

▶️Do you test yourself??? ▶️What are your strengths and weaknesses? "If you don't know what you can currently do ,then how do you know how to progress" All clients have been doing a series of fitness tests this week ,at the end of this current training block. Not only does this give them a sense of achievement and shows them how they have progressed but it also shows me where they perhaps need to improve upon. This means I can programme their sessions towards area that need more attention. It's great to see the smile on a clients face when they achieve something perhaps they didn't think was possible at first. My current client Audrey has only trained with me for 5 weeks but her application has been second to none ,safe to say she was delighted with her 55kg squat and 45kg bench . Very good numbers considering Audrey weighs 55kg ,so much more progress to come in 2017. Well done Audrey 👍👍👍🏋🏋👏👏

Tough full body session this morning in my group session at future fitness/shawlands ,this clip shows the guys doing a little lower body conditioning work towards the end of the session . My programme is always structured and progressive but I also like to challenge the guys and keep them on their toes especially when we do a little conditioning work at the end of sessions . No need for X trainers and treadmills this little superset gets the heart rate going and works a lot of major muscles and it's a bit more interesting I think you will agree😉 Back squat 40-50% of 1 rep max 10 reps Smashdowns 20reps Strict 30 secs rest then repeat 4 times!!! 🏋🏋🏃🏃💪💪

This is a clip of my client Chris going through a really challenging triset using 2 deadlift variations and a weighted carry. This triset is extremely tough and challenges not only strength but also grip strength and posture. This is an advanced training technique and should only be done if competent in basic lifting techniques. Trap bar deadlift 8reps Stiff leg deadlift 8reps Farmers walk 15-20m 3sets Chris done this at the end of last weeks workout with lighter weights than he would do for single sets this allows him to complete the triset with minimal rest and also adds a conditioning element to it. This is just some of the training techniques i use in my morning group sessions in future fitness shawlands (refurbishment going in video not a true reflection of the gym😉). Training Intensity and complacency Part 1 !!!!! Have a look at the video guys,it demonstrates how the same workout can soon become very different due to a lack of focus of technique,weights used,intensity and work rate. You can clearly see in the second part of the clip there is more thought and intensity applied to the session thus using more energy,activating and using more muscle fibres and generally making the session much more effective. Also despite some of the weights being heavier in the second part of the clip due to better technique and focus of the muscles being used the risk of injury is also reduced. Are you the first part of the second part of the clip? Have you become complacent and going through the motions in your training? Could your own focus and the intensity of your sessions be better? If I could give one bit of advice to young lifters in the gym who could no doubt learn from my endless mistakes in the gym at there age it would be to lift with "control and tension". If your goal is to improve your body composition or increase muscle size stop thinking about weight on the bar and start thinking about control and tension. To be clear I'm not talking about strength or powerlifting training where the aim is to move maximal weight for the typically 1-6 rep range,there is certainly a place for this in anyone's programme but for the purpose of the post I am talking more typically of the 8-15 rep or 40-60secs set training range where typically greater muscle building takes place. Your a weightlifter not a weightmover,stop thinking about moving a weight from A to B and start thinking about squeezing the target muscles and then stretching them under control . Your muscles don't know weight when it comes to muscle building but they sure do know tension,controlling the weight and putting it under maximal tension has been shown to work a much greater amount of muscle fibres ,this doesn't mean weight doesn't matter it certainly does it's a sign of progress when the weights move up just don't be in a hurry to do it if your compromising technique,control and tension. This video clip is of my client Ross a young guy who's goal is to put on some size,i am pleased to say Ross is making great progress and consistently improving in the gym each month. He knows it takes consistency with his nutrition and training to increase his muscle mass and through his consistency with both he is stacking on muscle quickly, we are continually assessing so Ross is also limiting fat gain during this muscle gain period. Ross is a willing learner and while he likes to see that he is getting stronger and all his weights are going up in his major lifts he is no ego lifter as you will see in this video.
