Promoted by Alasdair Bailey on behalf of Ken McCracken and Kirsten Nkwocha-Dyer all at Donald Dewar House, 139 Norfolk Street, G5 9EA
Great to have Anas Sarwar join us in Perth yesterday to hear your views!
Great to have the support of Richard Baker MP today talking to people in and around Unity Terrace.
Still a lot of disappointment about the SNP cutting the budget for the leisure pool around here. If Labour win on Thursday, we'll bring that back and do a proper job of it! ππππ€π€π€
Great to be out with the support of Graeme Downie MP today hearing the concerns of people in Tulloch about the SNP selling them short on leisure swimming πββοΈπ
Ken McCracken's reaction to yesterday's upsetting news from Hadden Construction (link to article in first comment)
A pleasure to be joined by Alex Rowley MSP today as well as Provost McDade as we took to the streets of the Western Edge.
As anticipated we spoke to a lot of people angry about the loss of Perth Leisure Pool.
Swathing cuts to local bus services also came up repeatedly.
With a vote for me on September 26th, we can bring balance back to Perth and Kinross Council and stop the SNP having a monopoly on Perth City North.
Perth levelling up money questions were asked so we're sharing an update from Ken McCracken (candidate for Strathallan) on his meeting last week with the Secretary of State for Scotland; "It was a pleasure to meet with the Secretary of State and to share with him the concerns I've been hearing from local people about the inadequacy of the A9 through Strathallan and into Stirlingshire. It falls well below modern safety standards and I hope that investment can be made in providing safer junctions, especially for the main settlements including Auchterarder and Blackford.
I also raised the matter of the Levelling Up funding for Perth. Β£5M was announced by the Conservatives in the twilight weeks of their time in government. We all acknowledge that Levelling Up is a failed Conservative initiative, but it would seem unfair if Perth were to miss out by virtue of being left until last by the Conservatives.
Further, I asked that the strings be removed from the money so that it can be spent on any growth-focussed capital projects and not just the narrow set of priorities set from the previous Westminster government."
Talking to voters in Letham who are disappointed but not surprised that the SNP sold them short on the leisure pool vote today. More details in the link below π
Bit of a wet one in Aberuthven this evening but we're hearing a lot about safety on the A9. If you care about that too then support Ken McCracken on the 26th September!
The leisure pool coming up a lot with people today. Only labour has backed the leisure pool throughout. It's time to build it!
Great to speak with so many people in Auchterarder today about what change really means!
***SAVE OUR SWIMMING***
You may have seen the SNPβs proposals for a new pool at Thimblerow. While Perth certainly is in dire need of improved swimming facilities this is a downgrade, NOT an upgrade.
Under these proposals there will be no separate pools for leisure, lane swimming and lessons. Everyone will be fighting over the same water, vastly reducing the availability of protected times for equally important uses.
Children and adults deserve to be able to access swimming lessons in a dedicated pool, heated to the optimum temperature and free from distractions.
Babies and toddlers, like my own little girl, deserve to be able to splash and play safely and warmly without causing a nuisance to people trying to do proper swimming.
Labour will continue our steadfast support for a dedicated leisure pool at next weekβs council vote.
Think local, vote Labour in Perth City North on 26th September.
The council will decide next weds on whether to rebuild Perth Leisure Pool on the cheap with Leisure Swimming only at certain times and sharing lanes with all other uses --OR-- to build it with dedicated a Leisure Pool for families to enjoy all day.
I know what I'm backing and I think you can guess too!

Weβve had a brilliant start to the campaign to elect Ken McCracken as the Scottish Labour Councillor for the Strathallan Ward on Thursday 26th September! π΄π³οΈ
Itβs been βοΈ βοΈ π¨ and even π in Braco, Auchterarder, Dunning and Greenloaning! βπͺπ¬π
Ken McCracken is our candidate for the council by-election in Strathallan on 26th September and has been talking with people across the ward over the past few days. We'll share more over the weeks to come from Ken, meantime here's his first thoughts:
βAs a local Auchterarder resident I am delighted to be standing as a candidate in this by-election seeking the support of local people from across Strathallan.
Council services matter to all of us whether that is education, housing, social care, economic development, transport, environment, libraries, community centres, public toilets, roads, parks or waste and recycling.
As a local Auchterarder resident I am delighted to be standing as a candidate in this by election. As your local councillor, I will work hard to protect local services and fight for a fair share of council resources to be spent in this ward.β
Very pleased to announce that Kirsten Nkwocha-Dyer is our candidate for the 26th September Perth City North by-election. Please like/follow her page to keep up to date with all she has to share!
