And it’s started! Finally. Marathon training is a GO!

I lost my beautiful Dad back in March and frankly it’s taken me the last six months to even begin to understand what the world looks without him in it.

What you probably don’t know, because why would you, is that my Pops loved running. In fact, over the course of his wonderful and full life, he ran more marathons than I could count on both hands. The one that got away, however, was Paris. The days following his death, in a moment of someone would say madness, my husband and I committed to doing that marathon for him.

This is the start of that journey. So if you’re interested in watching somebody who is completely unfit, overweight, in medical menopause and an avid lover of white wine and cake take on what is frankly the most frightening challenge I think I’ve ever faced - I’d love it if you would follow my journey and give me some much-needed cheerleading.

No zero movement days
Drink more water
Look after your sleep quality
Cultivate a patient outlook
Stop being so hard on yourself
Don’t over restrict
Work on your mindset

You've got to your goal weight, and guess what.... you're already looking for the next thing. You're not happy, not really.

But all is not lost. Quite the opposite! The happiness is in the pursuit of the goal itself. What you've learned about yourself: your strength, your courage, your resilience.

The habits you've developed.
The mindset you've cultivated.
The discipline you've fostered.

When life gets challenging, which it inevitably will, those things will keep you focused and carry you through whereas you'd previously have hit that big red f it button.

Let go of the outcome and start to enjoy the process of building your best version. It's a pretty amazing journey!

Weekends with you are my favourite ❤️

Here’s a little Sunday sermon:

You will always be pulled off course. That’s life: filled with competing priorities and demands on your time.

When interruptions happen or progress stalls for whatever reason, it’s all too easy for our mindset to stall too.

The difference between those stuck in the cycle of never ending ‘fresh starts’ and those who are making progress is the speed at which they simply get back on track.

The skill to practice isn’t ‘getting better at getting started’ it’s not allowing an interruption to become a reason to quit.

Remember this for your week ahead! If the weekend has interrupted your progress: boozy, food heavy, indulgent - celebrate the memories and simply GET RIGHT BACK TO IT.

Mindset Monday 💭

Whether we accept it as a truth or not, we ALL have a story.

A narrative that we keep telling ourselves. And that narrative is either the launch pad for growth or the anchor keeping us stuck in one place, on repeat.

“I’m too old to try that.”

"Are you nuts? I can't do that?!"

“I’m too busy.”

“Now is just not a good time.”

“I’ll never be able to do that.”

"The kids are just too young."

This is your invitation to reflect on what your narrative is. What does it mean?

Does it mean that you’re not up to it?

Does it mean that you’re stuck in one place forever?

Does it mean that the version of you that you dream about is just out of your capability?

If that's the case: it's time to close the book, and pick a new one. You're the author with a blank page in front of you: your story is yours to write.

So the question now becomes…. What do you WANT your story to say?

Here's some things I know about your story:

You're worthy of everything you desire, and more.

You are a strong, capable, intelligent woman with the world at her feet.

Time to change your story, to change your life.

The hustle narrative is getting old. The impression that our worth is somehow measured by the fullness of our calendar or the amount of hours we worked this week or how little our feet touched the ground.

The truth is, we are conditioning our primal brains to exist in a constant state of fight or flight. That's like driving your car around with the rev counter hitting the limiter: daily.

It's not good.

If we show up to each day already in the mindset that it's going to be MENTAL. Guess what? It will be.

Create the space between the reality of a busy life and a busy mind. Just because your schedule might be excessively demanding doesn't immediately translate to your emotional state mirroring it.

How you show up is within your gift to control.

Life is busy, but I'm in control of how that impacts me.

Until we can learn how to separate a busy day from a busy mind, we will never truly understand how to rest. How to take time for ourselves for all those things we crave: time to workout, time for a massage, time to journal, time to reflect, time to go for a walk.

Being busy is not a measure of your worth: it's simply a fact of life.

You are worthy by design, not by decision.
