Retford Arts Hub on Churchgate is taking part in Retford Heritage Day on Saturday 14th September. Make sure to come and view the Gallery Exhibition of local artists work, opening on 7th September, with the theme Routes - Connections - Networks
Saturday September 14th
Would you like a ride on the stagecoach on Retford Heritage Day? There are two ways you could get a ticket -
1. You could enter the competition in the September issue of Retford Life to win a place on the stagecoach in the morning.
2. You could come up to the Town Hall ballroom in the morning to look at the stalls where local organisations and charities are represented explaining what they offer to the community. You may be lucky enough to get a GOLDEN TICKET which will entitle you to a ride on the stagecoach in the afternoon.
Join one of the Librarians at Retford Library for a free group session at 10am on Saturday 14th September where they will demonstrate the range and variety of local maps available in Inspire libraries, with hints and tips on how to find and interpret them.

Grove Street Methodist is one of the venues open on Retford Heritage Day 14th September. Why not take up the invitation to visit and look at the recent renovations. You might even join a tour - no need to book in advance.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The search for Retford's Town Crier has officially begun! Could you be the one to keep the local people abreast of the latest news and gossip? Would you like to be involved in community events? Interested persons are asked to gather at Beer Under The Clock, at 4pm on Sunday 8th September for a very rousing afternoon of announcing and declaiming!
The winner will need to be available on Saturday 14th of September to open the Retford Heritage Open Day event.

A message from RETFORD CIVIC SOCIETY
Thanks to all those who visited our lovely venues on Retford Heritage Day, We hope everyone also enjoyed the music and dancing around town - it was a great atmosphere. The Town Hall in particular was buzzing. with artists and other creative people demonstrating their skills. Following on from that please visit RETFORD LIBRARY to have a look at the work of some of those artists displayed in the Gallery area. Featured are Amina Khan, Annie Turner, Cath Ray, Derrick Spence, Jayne Day, Jenny King, Lesley Pearson, Paul Straker, Phil Neal, Polly Warren, Stephen Grey, Wendy Smith. The exhibition is up until the end of the month.
Wow! What an amazing day! A massive thank you to all who took part in Retford Heritage Open day today, this must hold the record for the hottest one yet! Despite the heat, the turnout was great, the town had a real buzz about it, with lots of people taking the opportunity to visit heritage sites or chat with the makers in the town hall. We hope everyone had an enjoyable year, see you next year!

Retford town hall is buzzing with a fantastic makers market! Come and see artists and creatives at work, learn about the different techniques and maybe purchase one of the final products!
There are some wonderful characters around at Bassetlaw Museum today to discuss and display some of the beautiful costume collection.
From the boom times of the 30's and 40's to the desperate times of the 70's The Majestic has flourished then declined only to be saved by a dedicated group of theatre lovers.
With sheer hard work and determination The Majestic has not only survived it's chequered past, but is now being lovingly restored and renovated to it's original splendour.

RETFORD ARTS HUB 11 Churchgate, Retford will be open from 10am to 4pm on Heritage Day.
The fascinating building is the original waiting rooms for coach passengers travelling on the Great North Road, and will be open for visitors.
There will be a Creativity Unwrapped Exhibition in our 1st floor gallery- Items on display from the Children's holiday sessions and local artists and makers work.
We have a retail shop selling locally made arts, crafts and food and a small cafe area serving drinks and snacks.
