Yesterday morning (14/7/2021) crews from Whitchurch Fire Station and Ross on Wye Fire Station attended a house fire in Symonds Yat West.

Unfortunately, on the way to the incident the crews were delayed due to parked cars which did not leave enough room for a fire engine to get through.

Please be considerate when parking your car, and as the population of the Wye Valley increases three times due to tourism in the summer months, please be considerate when parking. If you own a holiday home, guest house or B&B please asks your guests to park considerably

56% of emergency workers who contacted us said they didn't have anyone else to talk to. If you're finding things tough, we're here to help.

All emergency workers can text BLUELIGHT to 85258 to talk anonymously with a trained volunteer, at any time of day or night.

Don't work for the emergency services? Text 'Shout' to 85258 for free, confidential support.

I have been where you fear to go.
I have seen what you fear to see.
I have done what you fear to do.
All these things I’ve done for you.

I am the one you lean upon.
The one you cast your scorn upon.
The one you bring your troubles to.
All these people I’ve been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart.
The one you feel should have no heart.
The emergency worker with lights of blue.
But I am human just like you.

And through the years I’ve come to see.
That I’m not what you ask of me.
So take a ride, come one everyone!
Will you take it? Will anyone?

And when you watch a person die.
And hear a battered baby cry.
Then do you think that you can be
All those things you ask of me…?

Look out for ticks after visiting parks, woodland or long grass. They may go unnoticed but can cause which damages the nervous system and joints. Reduce your risk by covering your skin when walking outdoors, staying on paths, and check yourself, children and pets before returning indoors. Use tweezers or a tick remover to gently pull and lift away from the skin. If you find a circular rash or become unwell speak to your GP or pharmacist.
