NCT Holme Valley & Emley Moor
We are the charity that supports people as they become parents.
Every year NCT supports over 250,000 parents on their unique journeys through pregnancy, birth, infant feeding, and into early parenthood. We connect, inform and support parents through our antenatal and postnatal courses, peer support programmes, and community-based events. We provide access to evidence-based information through our website and free Infant Feeding Support Line 365-days a year.
Can you give a few hours a week to host a Walk & Talk to support people as they become parents?
We would love to hear from you!

Between 10% and 20% of women have depression and anxiety in pregnancy and after birth.
If you’re suffering from postnatal depression, just some of the symptoms you may be experiencing could include feeling down or teary, worthless, having trouble sleeping or bonding with your baby – but also many more. Please remember that PND is an illness and there is help available.
Take a look at our information on postnatal depression here:https://www.nct.org.uk/life-parent/how-you-might-be-feeling
You could also contact organisations like Mind and Pandas Foundation (Pre And PostNatal Depression Advice and Support) for a listening ear and support.

You may use a car regularly to get around every day. Or perhaps you just need a baby car seat for occasional trips in someone else’s car or taxi (like the journey home from hospital after your baby is born!)

It's not just mum's body that changes during pregnancy, dad's does too! 🤓
Volunteering for your local NCT isn’t just for mums, dads can get involved too. Get some inspiration from NCT Doncaster’s Andrew 👇🏼
What exactly do NCT volunteers do? Andrew, NCT Treasurer and Dads' Walk & Talk leader in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, tells us a bit about what volunteering looks like for him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dP59nAcaxnI
Andrew says: "I'd never had experience in being a Treasurer or leading walks before. I saw this advert on social media asking for a dads' walk leader, and I thought it was an excellent opportunity for me to get involved and promote dads' mental health in and around South Yorkshire."
Andrew also supports finances for local NCT groups, including Bumps, Babies and Beyond. Watch his video to find out more 💚If you're interested in volunteering, check out our link: https://www.nct.org.uk/get-involved/volunteering

PANDAS Central Support Call Are you a parent and feeling the strain of the current situation, then this is the call for you!?
We hope your Easter has been full of lots of these things 😊
HAPPY EASTER 🐣💛 We hope your day is filled with lots of tiny happy things 🥰
If you aren't eating chocolate for breakfast then you're doing it wrong 😘
Newborn babies brains grow to full size faster than any other part of the body, using about 50% of their energy intake 😲🧠 (an adult's brain uses 25% of their energy!)
Whilst their brains are growing in those first few months, the basic understanding of language is growing too 🥰
Babies have the ability to hear the sounds of different languages and tune into the ones they hear most 👏
So it's a no brainer (pardon the pun) that the more you talk to them, the more they begin to understand how language works 🙌

⏰Don’t forget the clocks go forward an hour this weekend!⏰
It is a good time to start making changes to bedtime over the next few days -gradually bring your routine forward by up to 15 minutes a night; starting at teatime.
Don’t forget to wake your child up earlier the next morning to gradually change their body clock. Do this from now until Sunday and hopefully you won't notice the change! 🤞🏻
