Early Morning Window Cleaning within the small "window of opportunity" between events at Hylands House this morning. Its going to be a lovely day for a wedding!

Stunning restoration to the finish on this acid etched marble today. Acid Etching or erosion on natural stone can happen when the calcite mineral reacts to a sometimes even weak acidic solution causing the calcite to dissolve. This particular etch was left behind after a small drinks spillage which was then walked on. Standard cleaning lifted the drink and revealed the damage to the stone. Acidic Solutions are by far the most common reason we have been called out but also: Cleaning chemicals used by domestic cleaners in bathrooms/showers or incorrect chemical selection for floors made of natural stone. Alcohol, including cleaners such as hand sanitiser, nail polish remover (acetone) If this happens, don't worry, most are easily rectified and even the heavy duty ones can be restored using some diamond power.
