York Eagles Junior Basketball Club

Four of our Eagles girls, Danika Croft, Alex Dunlop-Gibson, Maya Foulkes and Grace Roberts played in a She Hoops 3X3 U16s tournament organised by Leeds LDM on Saturday.

The girls won 4 out of their 5 initial games, equalising the 5th against fellow Phoenix players who they then played in the final, which they won with their best performance of the day. The girls displayed remarkable chemistry and ability to read the floor, with Maya scoring an impressive 53 points (13 3PMs), Danika exhibiting top-class defence, Grace perfecting drives and pro-hops that were impossible to defend, and Alex displaying beautiful shots and much-needed assists.

An example of what resilience is. A depleted team of 7 travelled to Sheffield Hatters who finished 2nd in Northern Premier in 23/24, knowing a tough game would come at us.
But the girls showed some great determination to play Eagles basketball. A great win against a top team shows foundations are set ready for a big step up from U14s to U16s for 2024/25.

Yesterday Afternoon, our U11s travelled to Howden War Horses to play in a friendly.

Our U11s came out victorious 44-26 with Harry George leading the scoring with 10pts.

Congratulations to Grace Roberts & Jack Bishop for a fantastic performance in this weekend’s Aspire All Star Tournament in Manchester. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Grace had some outstanding performances with 14pts & 19pts in the group games, and then 11pts in the Final, but came short vs South 43-74. But was the top scorer for North throughout the weekend 👏 🥈

Jack had a decent outing with 8pts/10rebs in one of the group games, as the North U13s boys came short in other games, but kept his best performance for the 3rd/4th playoff game as Jack had 10 BLOCKS alongside 8 boards + 3 points as they beat Central 66-57 🥉
