๐After Christmas, you can recycle your real tree in your brown bin. Remove the base and decorations and chop it down, so it fits inside. The trunk must be thinner than your wrist, and the bin lid needs to close.
Alternatively, you can take it to one of the recycling points located across the borough or to one of the household waste and recycling centres.
Further details on our collection points can be found on our website: http://ow.ly/FuHc50M8nBK
The has been doing some last minute Christmas shopping shopping in the village. He knows that there is still time to get everything you need... but you'll have to be quick. Santa will be here soon.
Remember, there are no planned changes to your waste collections this festive season.

It's Sunday so The Norden Elf has been taking it easy and reading all about whats going on in the village in the latest issue of & Streetwise Magazines. Cheeky monkey.
Did you spot him?.. The Norden Elf was out tonight to see santa turn on the Christmas Lights. He met the Mayor, fiddled with the DJs decks and had a lovely Christmassy evening.
Santa turns on the Christmas lights...
Today is so we have been out with lots of our local businesses who are all taking part in our campaign. Glad to see that everyone was nice and busy with people supporting independent retailers. We will be sharing more about them and some of their offers over the coming weeks so please keep giving them your support because without them our village just wouldn't be the same.
The Christmas lights will be turned on in this evening. There will be a road closure on Edenfield Road from the bus terminus to the war memorial from 6:00pm until 7:15pm so please adjust travel plans accordingly. For those coming there is lots to look forward to including lights the Christmas market and festive entertainment.

Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday. This is the 10th Year that this campaign has been running and encouraging people to shop local, support independent businesses and keep our local economies thriving. Here in you'll see our banners up and shops displaying their branding so please do pop in and see what's on offer.
Look out , this afternoon there was a crash and a bang in Garden of Eden and out from one of the crates of holly popped this naughty little elf. Christine tried her best to stop him but he was too fast and escaped into the village. I wonder what he will be getting up to when no one's looking. ๐ง๐ปโ๐
This evening (Saturday 22th October) our local Councillor will take part in the Springhill Hospice Fire Walk to raise funds for the Hospice which does amazing work to support people and their families in our borough at a difficult time.
He will be walking barefoot across burning coals, if you would like to donate you can do so via the following JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/peterwinkler
The hospice is an amazing charity and their work touches the lives of so many people in the borough, so please help Peter to help them. Thanks for your support.

Whilst out today I was reminded that lambing season is well underway on our local farms. The first lambs are already in fields around and . This is a critical time of year for livestock farmers and we should all be reminded to be cooperative and responsible when we are out enjoying the good weather. So please:
๐ Keep your dogs on leads at all times - however good you believe your pet is they can scare, harm, or even kill sheep.
๐ฃ Keep to footpaths, close gates behind you, and avoid entering or crossing fields of livestock.
๐ณ We all like to enjoy the outdoors especially when we have good weather, but please leave the countryside as you find it.
๐ฎ Take your litter home and don't light BBQs or campfires.
TH96 TH96 Run is a charity fun run set up in memory of Tommy Hardman who died suddenly aged 21. It is an annual event which raises money for CRY (Cardiac Risk In The Young).
**UPDATE**
This morning an emergency notice was received that work has to be done to fix an electrical mains fault on Edenfield Road at the junction with Somerset Grove. Although this is quite a way down from Cadent's gas works our officers have agreed with both contractors that Cadent will concentrate on footpath works until the Electrical works are completed, so just one set of lights at a time. Hopefully, this will minimise any disruption.
**ORIGINAL POST**
I have been informed that Cadent will be doing essential gas works on Edenfield Road (between Norden Way and Tenterhill Lane) from 15/03/2022 for approximately four weeks. The works will include traffic lights which will be manned at peak times. Please consider this when traveling this way.
Following issues on Norden Road a few weeks ago I have spoken to our Highways team to ask that no other works be planned for the area at the same time that could further impact on traffic.
* * * Nursery places in for September 2022 * * *
Norden Community Primary School still has full and part-time places available in their Nursery for September 2022.
If you have a child, or know a child, who was born between September 2018 and August 2019 and are looking for Nursery provision, then look no further!
Parents/carers are invited to visit their website www.norden.rochdale.sch.uk or ring the school office on 01706 641013 to arrange a meeting with a member of the leadership team and a tour of the school.
The school has a fantastic Early Years Unit that is run by our hard-working and friendly staff who plan and deliver a stimulating curriculum based on play. The Nursery is teacher-led and has a range of outdoor areas for the children to use including extensive fields and a woodland area.
They also offer before and after-school provision (as well as holiday clubs) so we can help with childcare to fit in around your work commitments.
Wow, what a night!! Huge "thank you" to Debbie at The Bury Black Pudding Company for the loan of their van tonight, and heck did we pack it full with donations from last nights collection.
We had some amazing support tonight from Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club - rrufc with packing up the van, it was tight but we squeezed everything in.
Over at the collection hub in Bury the centre was an absolute hive of activity but they were extremely grateful for the generosity of people in and . Our donations will now be packed up for convoy.
With so many donations coming in they have asked for a short pause to catch up so we will turn to helping at the centre for the moment and arrange a further collection when they are ready. Thank you to everyone again it has been hard work but feels like we have done some good for a desperate situation.
